    LEAD IN :
    There are very few places left in the world where Aramaic, the language of Jesus Christ, is still spoken.
    The people of the village of Maaloula in northern Syria speak the ancient language in everyday life.
    STORYLINE:
    It feels like history has stopped in the small Syrian village of Maaloula, some 50 kilometres (31 miles) north of the capital Damascus.
    Along with the neighbouring villages of Jabadin and Bakha, it is one of the last places in the world where Aramaic, the language of Jesus Christ, is still spoken.
    Maaloula means "the entrance" in Aramaic, referring to its dramatic location at the entrance to a rocky gorge.
    Perched on the slopes of the Qalamoun Mountains at an altitude of 1,500 meters, Maaloula overlooks a vast green carpet of fig trees, grapevines and poplar trees.
    With its blue-roofed houses nestled into the rock, Maaloula a picturesque village, is one of Christianity's oldest sites.

    I have a very close friend who is a Muslim Syrian. He is from Aleppo. He used to tell me all the time that, during his childhood, he saw monks and imams, Christians and Muslims, churches and mosques co-exist in peace and harmony. I realized, it is not religion dividing people, it's people's own twisted thinking and choices.

      Yoshev Haaretz the people? these people, i agree. however Muslims following Islam and not what the Quran and other Islamic literature calls hypocrites, but true followers are only to claim peace if they can't win a war. then they wait till they can. like muhammid did. there's plenty more.. point is true Muslims are at war with infidels hypocrites... lizards.. if you believe that bio of muhammid... see acts17apologetics yt channel.

      I don't care if they're hypocrites or not. I will respect those people more than I respect most of my fellow Christians. Those people may not Be Christians, but they follow the teachings of Christ. The Samaritan was better than the priest and the Levite.

      Yoshev Haaretz true, i'm worried due these in the video. those who truly follow Islam (true muslims) are going to want them(the hypocrites) dead. :\ and there is alot in Islam to become a hypocrite. exposing Islam seems loving to me... i mean idc if they're hypocrites, true Muslims do. warning is the only thing to do, a?

    Thank you for this beautiful video! It is so wonderful to hear that elderly gentleman say that everyone Christian and Muslim are all the same, are all brothers, there is no difference between them - how wonderful to note that they live in peace and harmony with each other, which you dont see in the Christian community in the west and in other parts of the world, there is so much division, separation and disconnection. The church has become so driven by its own agenda and programs, focused on itself like an isolated group of individuals. We as the Christian community have much to learn from humble people and communities like these about the true meaning of the church, our sense of community and belonging to the family of God and living in peace and harmony with each other as Christians and believers in Jesus Christ, following the Word of God.

    Why do people who don't read Quran say "Islam is religion of violence" I am Muslim but I live in peace in my home in California. My parents are normal people with normal jobs, we hate Osama Bin Laden, ISIS, and other terrorist groups, and we are MUSLIMS. I respect Christians a lot, they are very nice people, but please respect Islam too, we are only human, we are not murderers, we are 1.9 billion people who live our lives like a normal person. We have a lot of beliefs you guys may not agree with, we believe that Jesus was a prophet, and we believe that Christians and Jews have the same God as us. Disagree with me, but I stick with my beliefs, and I respect yours.

      Well the last time I mentioned to my father to do prostration----the fact that Jesus Moses Solomon David EVERY ANGEL EVERY PROPHET almost every single commoner in the Gospel/Torah DOES PROSTRATION.... did not matter at all----and I was told NEVER to bring up that crap again. "Because those people came over here and attacked us..." SCREW THAT NOISE. I'VE SEEN THE LAMB OF GOD WITH THE 7 HORNS (NOT) ALL ON HIS HEAD---IN THE HIGHEST HEAVEN, IN JANNAH AL-FIRDOUS. I AM TRUE ARCHANGEL SENT BY ALLAH SWT. _AND EVERY ANGEL IS MUSLIM._ EVERYTHING IN THE UNIVERSE IS MUSLIM---BUGS, TREES, WATER.... ONLY BEINGS IN FREE-WILL UNIVERSE (3RD DIMENSION/4TH DIMENSION, UPON THIS INFINITE, FLAT PLANE OF EXISTENCE WE CALL EARTH) HAVE ANY CHANCE WHATSOEVER TO NOT BE 100% PURE MUSLIM.
      BECAUSE MUSLIM MEANS ONE WHO SUBMITS TO THE WILL OF GOD.
      WHAT DOES "TAO" OF TAO-ISM MEAN????? "THE WAY"
      SO WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE???????? THEY DON'T HAVE ANY TRUTH PRESERVED FOR THEM ABOUT WHO IS WHO, WHERE IS WHERE, WHAT IS WHAT, AND WHY IS WHY.
      TRUTH IS EVERYWHERE.
      TRUTH IS SO EASY TO SEE ONCE YOU HAVE SEEN IT ONCE.
      AND THERE IS NO RELIGION IN THE WORLD THERE IS ONLY THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE.
      ALL WHO READ MY COMMENT.

      MY NAME IS ABBAS. I AM 1 OF 144,000 ARCHANGELS WHO ARE THE MOST ELITE ARMY IN ALL THE UNIVERSES.
      ABBAS MEANS LION; STERN; AUSTERE; GRIM-FACED.
      I LOVE YOU.
      I WANT YOU TO EXPERIENCE THE TRUTH. HERE. IN THIS DREAM. IN THIS NIGHTMARE. WHILE YOU'RE HERE-------!!!!!AT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!! BECAUSE YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL AND BRAVE AND BLESSED.

    Folks, it is a scientific fact that the life span of a language is about 900 years. Consider English or French. You would not be able to understand spoken words from 11th century. Similarly the only way Aramaic could survive would be as a dead language such as Latin or ancient Greek. Languages go through constant corruption and modification almost daily. I would have a difficult chance of understanding my great grandmother today in native Scots.

    • @BurnBird1
      @BurnBird1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is Neo-Aramaic and Jesus would have spoken Old Aramaic, so sure. However, there's no "scientific fact" stating that the lifespan of a language is 900 years. That's just not how language works

      @@briancaldwell283 not necessarily, but where do you get that number from? The language from 890 years ago would be way similar to the language of 900 years ago. It's a gradient of slow change with no cut off point. Then there's also the fact that languages can change at varying speeds. Icelandic for example has very conservative features compared to the other, equally old, Scandinavian languages

    • @briancaldwell283
      @briancaldwell283 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BurnBird1 I think we are in violent agreement. The 900 years is a moving time span. Languages as you well know evolve as new words are added, slang terms adopted and so on. I don't even understand half of my grand children's texts!
