I just spent half an hour watching this beautiful video. Maria, I have known you since you were about 16 and as you know I have great affection for your parents, and of course, you. I am a Jewish convert and 49 now, and my six beautiful children are much older now than yours and your friend Hermione's babies. But watching this sweet, honest and very raw video made me both cry and smile at the same time. Cry because you are both such beautiful souls, but more importantly, honest ones. People didn't make videos like this when I became a Catholic in 2000, or began home schooling....they were not as honest or as real. I think had they been my life may have been different, but maybe not, too. Hermione, you are a gorgeous mama...your eldest daughter (the little one with long tresses holding the baby) is a gift as are all your children. I love how honest you were and I especially loved the children's make shift slide; it made me smile so much.. I watched and felt pain: pain that I will never have one of my own babies in my arms again as little as Pia, and pain that I didn't have friends like you and Maria....but happiness too at your profound love for God and your children and your awareness of how broken the world is, but how blessed you are. I'll stop now, but thank you and God bless your Mother's hearts.
I have just read this beautiful message. I am so honoured and touched. Thanks be to God that we can be honest, true. So much helped by the nature of mine and Maria’s friendship- based on truth and real care for eachother. God bless you and your family xxx
It’s so nice to watch this video, makes me feel less isolated as a Catholic mum. I loved the bit where you talked about the woman with the two coins. Thank you. God Bless
Loved, loved, loved this! ❤️ What a beautiful video of your two gorgeous families. So refreshing to watch mums with the same views, trying their best to live life as modern day UK Catholics. You really made women like us feel like we are part of a bigger family, not so alone, I only wish this would have been around 20 years when mine were younger, would have made life so much easier. Thank you so much Maria, God bless both your families 🙏❤️ xx
Loved this episode! It is so refreshing to see moms being authentic in their roles as their children’s first teachers in their catholic faith. Been through that season in my life as I too raised five little ones. They are much older now but that time was truly beautiful! TH-cam wasn’t a thing during that time but I am so blessed to have found other moms at my parish and we are friends to this day! God bless you for offering moms around the world that sense of special connection through faith and motherhood!
Thank you for this beautiful video. It's very inspiring, and to me the most important thing is that you give a great example for other women, how amazing this 'regular' life can be. Reading comments made me feel like I might be the only guy who's watching your channel :)
Wow - beautiful! I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit as Hermione was talking, and her singing at the end brought me to tears! Thank you both for being willing to share and be so open :-)
Thank you for sharing your conversation and visit with us! You both have such lovely families!! Can you share the recipes for the amazing bread and soup with us written down??
2 onions, two sweet potatoes, 2 carrots, 2 sticks celery, 2 cans chopped tomatoes, 2 stock cubes, 2 tsp cumin, 2 tsp paprika, salt and pepper to taste. Place all ingredients (peeled and chopped) in the slow cooker and cover with water until you reach the desired consistency. Cook on high for 2 hours then reduce heat for 1 hour. Blend and serve with fresh coriander and a swirl of coconut cream (both optional). If you don’t have a slow cooker, sweat veggies in olive oil for 10 mins (stirring often), then add chopped tomatoes and stock. Bring to boil and simmer gently for an hour with lid on. The longer the cook the better the taste. Blend and serve. Bread: 700g bread flour (I use different combinations but mostly 200g brown, 500g white) 1 1/2 tsp fast action dried yeast 2 tsp salt 500g warm water Combine all ingredients until they form a rough dough, cover with a plate and set aside for 2 / 3 hours. Preheat oven to 220 C. Roughly tear dough into 12 equal rolls and bake for 15/20 mins until risen and slightly golden. I do all prep right after breakfast whilst I’m still in the kitchen and then lunch is half the stress. Hope that helps!
I made these both the next day after watching the video!! Had to convert to US measurements. Thank you for sharing your beautiful heart and story. I love seeing the Catholic family life being lived in the UK
Soup: I can’t even reminder what I did that day, but here’s one I do which I hope will be helpful. Slightly simplified but just as tasty.
