I fell in love with 103 instantly. I compared both 102 and 103 and omg what a difference. Idk maybe my ears are too sensitive (hurts to hear an out of tune guitar even if it’s just a little 😆). 103 made my voice sound better. I bought a used one and super happy about it.
I'm currently using Harlan Hogan VO1A (MXL 2006), and I really am still pleased with it and love it. Though I am tempted to get TLM 103 or U87ai (which Harlan Hogan's website used to have the comparison demos of U87ai and VO1A and led me to the latter), plus my first voice over demo was recorded on TLM 103.
Thanks for the review. I'm thinking of getting a TLM 103. I have a question - doesn't the higher freq boost favour lower voices, actually, and perhaps over-accentuates higher-pitch voices?
I feel like the opposite. For music it’s not my favorite on low mid heavy voices like mine. Maybe better for female vocals. It’s a great voice over mic for male and female. The industry standard. But for music and vocals I’d get a TLM 102. It’s cheaper too. Or a different mic completely. I really love Lewitt mics. I have a few more mic reviews coming soon.
@@TheMixWithABD Make sense. Thanks for the reply. I am considering the 102 as well. Seems it needs a better acoustic treatment of the room, though? Maybe a bit more sensitive than the 103?
@@TheMixWithABDCan you explain more in detail why you think that? What parts make it sound good for alto/soprano/tenor or worse as you said for bass/baritone?
My favorite microphones right now are the Neumann TLM49 and the Shure KSM44A. I am considering whether to spend the money on the TLM49 or go for the TLM103..
Hey, thanks for watching! It’s an 114e you can get it for about 800 USD. It’s perfect for most things. It’s acoustic-electric. Great sounding electronics. Sitka and walnut, striped ebony board. I love it. I don’t feel the need to buy another acoustic.
Hey there! Nice video :) I have a little question, I was looking for a mic to do voice over professionally. I'm a man and I have a mid to low voice, is this a good investment for me?
@@TheMixWithABD My vocals I sing in my shitty square room, only has bass traps no high end treatment, just gone done watching a vid we’re a guy tested the Tlm 103 against other mics and he found it has added top end indeed, but like I said no matter what I do it’s my vocals end up harsh as my 5 o clock shadow in the morning lol
@@EL_N0IR_2201 you can always try low passing the high end. To roll off some of that harshness. There’s a bump around 10khz that you could remove with a curve too. Maybe your room is treated too much. As long as it’s not super echoey in your recording space you should be good with maybe a simple gate at the beginning of your vocal chain.
@@TheMixWithABD you know that’s not a bad suggestion but I’ve had this mic for about 7+years and it’s like this mic is hard to work with it just ends up sounding thin after rolling the low and high, I mostly blame my room and probably forgot to mention I already have a nasally voice and it’s not deep for a male so this mic no bueno for my type, I’m selling it and getting a mic with flatter curve I know technically an EQ can do this but not entirely it’s hard to describe I feel like the high end is baked in somehow. I’ve tried bro it just idk.

That boost made me sell it though i loved how generally quiet the 103 was.
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏻, Sounds amazing! My favorit is the EKG C414 for voice, TLM 103 or the U87 is my next mic, hopefully! Great vodeo thanks for sharing.
Great video! My favorite is 102 but 103 is my next Neumann.
Thanks for watching. I’ve tried both mics and like them both. You’ll be happy 😎
Well brother just imagine if you like those what the Neumann U87Ai sounds like
Nice comparison thank you!

The single best voiceover mic for most people is the TLM 103
How did you get the shock mount on the mic stand my shock mount is just like yours and it won’t fit on my mic stand
Check to make sure there isn't an insert threaded into the shock mount. If there is you can just unscrew it with a coin or something
TLM 103 (along with many sensitive condensers) are pro-studio mic. They will not sound good as a SM57 in an untreated space
So what would sound good on a baritone voice.
A brighter mic like the lewitt 440
@@BenDover84932 I would for singing. I have a review coming soon
I find it harsh but I am in an untreated room, no matter what I do the vocals sound terrible
What kind of vocals?

@@EL_N0IR_2201 you may just want to go with an sm7b. There’s also the new modeling mic from UA that I want to check out. It’s only $500.
