    Been driving my 2018 Nissan. Over 100,000Km mileage and still good !
    This looks almost identical to my current Leaf. Don't know how much it changed in the inside but Leaf is very ideal for the average driver.

    How a company that was so beloved and early in the EV space couldn't do better than the Ariya is mindboggling. Nissan should be the top ev manufacturer right now. Especially given the fact their ICE vehicles haven't been selling well for awhile. I hear the Maxima is coming back as an EV. For me, that is top of the list to go test drive when it happens. One of my favorite ICE vehicles when I was younger.

    I’m an EV tech and my main concern with Nissan Leaf is Battery cooling. Air cooling is not ideal for electric cars. Hybrid fine but not electric cars. It should be liquid cooled. I think the reason is to cut cost, but it is the reason why Nissan Leaf have premature battery issue.

    • @higheroctave32
      @higheroctave32 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The chemistry of the Leaf battery was changed several years ago and is now significantly less prone to degradation due to heat. It's really not an issue now. Fast charging on the other hand on a hot day could hamper a trip if you really need to go farther and need to fast charge more than once to get there and can't cool the battery actively.

      Agreed. EVs with short range and/or can charge slower than 150 kW should not be over $20K. 150 kW should be minimum of today's world (yes, I'm talking to you, Bolt). It wastes the owners' and other people's time waiting to charge at stations during the peak times. 46 kW and 55 kW are painful for Leaf and Bolt.

    It's a good choice for very short trips. But like Lyn speculated, since Nissan has the larger Aryia, the Leaf will likley be discontinued since the charging port is outdated and everyone wants a crossover for their daily driver instead of a sedan or hatchback.

    One pedal driving works well regardless if you're in B mode or not

    You cannot disable the backup sonar sound can get annoying
    Love this car for our daily commute and errands around town

    The Tesla Model 3 is less than $33,000 with the Federal Tax Credit and even below $30K in some states that have additional incentives. Plus the Leaf has no active heating/cooling system for the battery, meaning that longevity will be worse. Will likely need a battery replacement much sooner than other EVs including Teslas. It's cheap, but not as good of a value.
    Plus with Tesla you don't have to go into a dealership and deal with all of the price haggling nonsense that comes with it. You just pay the listed price, destination fee, and taxes.

    • @Jimster481
      @Jimster481 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tesla is a vehicle you don't own at all. Nobody can repair it but Tesla and battery replacements are insanely priced.
      They watch your every move and everyone you drive with and record everything you say. This is just a giant piece of spyware on wheels.
      Also the fit & Finish on Tesla vehicles is HORRIBLE to say the least. The cars are filled with cheap plastic and glued together.

Even with an active cooling system Toyota intentionally caps their platform at 50kW to preserve the health of the battery.
