    It would be so very helpful to do a slower and larger needle version of the starting of the knocker. It's difficult to follow the needles when transferring from one needle to three and then to see how to arrange the needles for the round. I tried so many times to understand the technique and finally bought a Knook instead of trying to knit! The Knooked Knocker came out great but I would still like to accomplish the knitted version. Thanks for your consideration of making an additional video.

    Hi I´m from Cali, Colombia, two friends are breast cancer survivors and they wants learn to how to knit knockers but all the videos that I watched are in english, I don´t speak english, and neither do they. It would be very helpful if some tutorial will include the subtitles in spanish as that is a global need and your videos is of great importance.
    Many Thanks to you and your colleagues who assist you in this task.

      Great idea. If only we had the resources to do that! We could use it in French, Dutch, Spanish and beyond! We are all volunteer and survive by donations. Maybe someone would be interested in helping us fund that! It shouldn't cost too much :-)

    The actual instruction starts at 1:45, so after you've seen the beginning and just want to review how to start, that's where you'll go.

    This video is impossible to follow! I tried so many times and like everyone says, it is impossible to see which needle is next after you have three chains in every needle. I just gave up and now I will try the crochet version. A slower and bigger version of this video might help to follow the instructions. I ordered the recommended yarn and it is very soft and nice!

    When do you put the stitch marker on your needle? I have watched video no. 1 several times and haven't seen you put the stitch marker on. I see a marker later on in the video.

    I have tried making the knocker, but when I come to knitting the three needles I have a problem with the third needle. Problem is increasing between the last 2 stitches. There is a twist in the wool which makes it difficult to increase and leaves a small hole. What am I doing wrong? I'm making this for a friend so would like to make it right. This is a great idea.

    I have been knitting for over 40 years. Never done any DPN and I have watched this video a number of times and find a number of problems with it. Being so small makes it very hard to see what is being done. the important steps aren't shown to the camera. On MO you say to put the tip of the left hand needle into the strand between the last 2 stitches and knit into the back of that stitch... At this moment that strand can not be seen so I'm not sure of where I'm to put my needle point.
    An earlier place was when the Icord is started. I wasn't and still not sure which strand to work with. I noticed that to work with the long strand (which is the logical one) it was looped from 1 side to the other to actually use it. That should be clarified in the directions for those of us that are doing the knocker for the first time. I know there are other places that should be slowed down and explained better.
    I love the idea and thought this would be something nice to do. As the 2 people that have been doing this the longest you need to think about the problems you had when you first started.

      between the last 2 stitches there are 2 little bumps. in between the two little bumps there is a little bar (I call it) I had a very hard time picking it up with the left needle so I pick it up with my right needle and put the left needle over the top and under the little bar and slip onto the left needle. Then I knit into to back of it. I hope this will help. I tried many many many times to do a knocker and spent about 6 hours trying. At one point I was so happy because I was finally knitting a knocker. Then I said to myself this doesn't look right. I realized I was knitting it wrong side out. OOPS Start over and try again. I Finally got it right. I went to you tube to see how to do an I cord. It does help me if I watch the video full screen.

      Also you can google you tube how to make one in knitting. I have learned a lot from watching you tube. I'm not an experienced knitter but you tube hasn't failed me yet.

    Would -you consider doing another video for the version without the I-cord? I'm having trouble getting started and thought it would be better to learn that way first.

    • @KnittedKnockers
      @KnittedKnockers  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Kristen Snellings I wish we had the funds to make more videos. The way to start without the I-cord is to cast on the 3 stitches. Then knit in front and back of each stitch. You then have the 6 stitches to transfer to the other needles and start following the pattern. Starting a knocker can be a challenge but don't be discouraged. Once you get the hang of it then it becomes easier and fun!

    • @kristensnellings1851
      @kristensnellings1851 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Knitted Knockers thank you for responding! I have tried starting without the I-cord several times. I keep ending up with a hole in the middle even though I tighten the stitches up as I go. I'm experienced with DPNs to knit tubes such as hats or mittens, but I've never knit anything that starts in the middle and works its way outward, like this pattern does. Once I get a few rounds in, it works OK but that very center is just not happening for me. I might need to find some other tutorials on the general technique, or get another knitter to help.

    • @KnittedKnockers
      @KnittedKnockers  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kristen Snellings That hole by the I cord can be covered up when stitiching down the I cord. We stretch the I cord and twist it tightly and stitch it down covering that hole :-). Thanks for your persistance! If you want to make them with an I cord and send to us, we will stitch them down for you. We appreciate your efforts!

      +Knitted Knockers I"m making one for a specific person, so I'll be giving it to her myself. The hole is appearing in the ones without an I-cord. Perhaps I'll try one with an I-cord so I can stitch it down over the hole or just stitch up the hole when I'm done. I just think I must be doing something wrong to end up with the hole. :(

      Yes. I know. We revised the pattern after recording the video. We were finding too many people had trouble making the knipples small enough so reduced the rows by 2. Thanks for noticing!

    I tried following this video as I would dearly love to contribute to Knitted Knockers BUT as I am deaf and rely heavily on hearing aids, having music played in the background all the time while you are talking is very distracting - there is no need for it.

    If they stop the background music, it would be much better. Make simpler directions by shutting the music off. The music is distracting and interferes with the voice when you are trying to give directions, you loose your audience with noise around. Thank you!

    You need to stop asking questions, and just explain what you are doing when your knitting.
    As for the crochet you are teaching her and she ask two many questions I am lots with the crocheting.
    I wish you would just crochet and explain what you are doing.
