Hi Camellia, I want to ask you how you managed when doing your PMHNP degree with Clinical’s? I have 4 classes left and all of those are clinical practice and I am finding it a little difficult between my job and finding clinicians that are willing to precept and for the most part I have to pay out of pocket for these hours. If you could share your experience and give me a few tips I would appreciate it. Thanks and Happy New Years.
@Nelson Ramirez Thanks for your questions and for watching! It was definitely tough to land consistent preceptors when I was completing my program, so I can relate to this challenge. I worked during my program as well, just reduced to weekender and eventually PRN to allow some flexibility with my schedule. (Of course, the drawback was poor benefits temporarily, but it was worth it!). This also freed up my Mon-Fri, which is when most are willing to precept. I have a video on this channel about finding preceptors, but I would reach out on LinkedIn, job boards, the ANCC preceptor bank, and mere networking with providers who may either moonlight or have private practices. The issue is that most are no longer willing to precept without some financial compensation.....:( I hope this helps. Hang in there and please reach out with additional questions. W2 means full time work typical. Is that right? Do you mind sharing if you are remote working or have to go into a office 40 hours a week?
@mccaroll78 W2 means that you are an employee of an organization versus a contractor. It can be full-time or part-time.
