CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The prom is stepped up a notch as the students launch into a choreographed dance the campus D.J. (Usher Raymond) taught them.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
If Hollywood can shoehorn William Shakespeare into the teen-movie treatment with Romeo and Juliet, and Jane Austen with Clueless (from her novel, Emma), why not George Bernard Shaw? While his Pygmalion has been staged and filmed endless times, most famously as the musical My Fair Lady, here Shaw goes to high school. This time around, a Los Angeles' school's most popular guy Zack (Freddie Prinze, Jr.) loses his girlfriend Taylor (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) to television star Brock Hudson (Scream's Matthew Lillard). Zack then vows to his friends that he can take any girl in school and turn her into the prom queen. With five weeks until the prom, his friends pick weird, art nerd Laney Boggs (Rachael Leigh Cook). Zack predictably gets more than he bargained for as he falls in love with his "creation." Eldon Hudson and Kieran Culkin, stars of The Mighty, play Laney's best friend and little brother, respectively. Robert Iscove, director of television's Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, makes his big-screen debut.

This movie gave me too much expectations for high school.
This movie is nothing like the highschool I went to... that being said, I went too an All-Boys school... things are a bit more low key.
***** Did you get to run around with guns made out of clip-on pens, and scream dank memes?
***** Ooft, that kind of behaviour would've gotten you ostracised at my school. Everything was geared towards academic success. If you were that one guy out partying, you were going to be bringing down the ATAR average of the year group.
ATAR is the Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank.
TyTimeIsAwesome mines was high school musical I thought it would be fun and have great food no
Given these actors are all older than 18, this is more like a College formal. And yes they are fun. Not choreographed but still a lot more fun than high school
.
People don't realize they actually practice this dance. When Usher says "let's do the dance I taught you" Coordinated by the dance club. I love it.
Finally. He even said, "And I know you've been practicing."
Yes! And we learnt something similar at my high school ball (I’m Australian). Not nearly as coordinated but we all did it that took the lessons
Lol still those moves were very intricate and too sophisticated for a casual line dance. Not that I'm complaining, I still love this scene lol 😆
I was just commenting that when someone listed that as a fault, he said he'd taught them the dance. It's not uncommon for schools to do that. Even in Harry Potter 4, they taught them to waltz for the ball.
@@Jorie921 I can’t believe it’s been eight years since I made that comment! Good lord!! A lot of people missed that line!
The fact that EVERYONE missed the part where he literally calls out the DANCE CLUB to take over while everyone else stood on the sidelines, still annoys me 20+ years later. The whole school wasn't doing this dance. 🤦🏾♀️
IKR?
OH MYGOD THEY DID? LMAO, I NEVER NOTICED
Exactly, it was the most creative way to explain why an entire room of people would break out into a choreographed dance and soooo many people missed it. It's a shame because they finally made it make sense!
@@jonathanbutler3346 Well he did say do that dance I taught you.
*whispers* I didn’t realize this until two days ago lol
Did anyone else notice the DJ was Usher?
yaaa....thats my cutie (ursher) he was also in The Faculty. ..he's just so danm adorable
+Geoffrey Adams DERP!
Yes they added him to the movie, and this WHOLE SCENE during final filming, because the director decided the movie was too short (1 hour 25 minutes). So they quickly choreographed this dance to stretch the run time
.
Geoffrey Adams um... Were you seriously unaware this was him until now? Did you not watch the movie?
Not at first
This surpasses Carrie has being the most unrealistic prom scene ever.
Well, telekinetic powers aside, the prom stuff from "Carrie" has happened in real-life. It happened to a girl in Texas a few years ago.
ERAUPRCWA Why do kids do that shit? High school is four years of your life and doesn't mean a damn thing when its over.
lkgrave
I know, right?
lkgrave For some people high school is the height of their career (as the sports jock, or popular girl). They remember those years fondly
.
Yeah but it's so fucking cool, so who cares. The 90's rules.
Imagine being a date from another school and seeing this. You’d be like “wtf is going on?”
🤣🤣🤣
I know
lmao 😂😂
Agsfahdgahs😂😂😂
Needless to say I was wildly disappointed when this didn’t happen at my prom...
I mean Usher wasn't the DJ and most people did not know how to dance.
Birdie Wolf well... yeah by usher came out my senior year so you can say he was the DJ
You guys have prom?? 💀
☹😞😩
My hs did a flash mob at prom
1:16 that dance move is so satisfying
Usher says “dance club let me see what you got” Obviously they expect them to dance
I was forced to watch the horrible remake. This movie was golden!
U weren't forced stop being dramatic and stupid
I still haven't seen it yet
I'm not surprised because the remake is all about commercial gadget & how to become viral ( the millenial lifestyle)
Me and a date went to see this movie at the Berkeley Cinema movie theater. 2 years after we saw it, he asked me to go to prom with him and I did😁 And yes, the dresses were this pretty😁 And no, no one had these types of dance moves😂 Being a teen in the 1990's/early 2000's was everything😍
I have prom this weekend and although I know it's ridiculous, I still wish something like this would happen in the middle of it. At least get everyone to do the macarena.
prom in the 90s was not so tight fisted jeeze from what I hear, schools might as well be like footloose good lord, theres no prom king & queen or royal court, its just "prom royalty" pretty stupid if u ask me... whats cool about this scene is its choreographed so well, it looks fun and awesome...
Curious did they do the Macarena? Lol
squishymonkey0518 A synchronized choreographed dance?
My prom was the only really good part of my high school experience. We didn’t elect a queen and king. But I know who would have won. They’re married now.
Wow how old are you now
I only just realised the movie actually contains a sort of justification for the crazy synced choreography when the DJ says "we're gonna do that dance *I* taught you". Also, this movie introduced me to Fat Boy Slim.
Do you know how they call this kind of sync dancing?
Jeremy Stillwell yet here you are
Ahh...so this is where Wednesday's cool dance came from. All you have to do is pay attention to the entire dance sequence, and you'll see all of the iconic moves there. Just my opinion, of course.
This was such a coming of age movie. This clip was the best dance part. I've always wanted to dance like that.
ginger4238 same I remember being little trying to do the choreography to this scene 😂
I know this doesn’t usually happen at proms but like I’d still wanna go to school during this time.
My favorite is the kid in the white 🤍🤍🤍 shirt
I choose this dancing style over twerking and other none sense nowadays dance moves
Too much cheesiness in this scene lol
I want to renact this for my future wedding.
So do I. Also, a future dance party!
This is so much better then what was in He's All That.
the first teenage movie I have ever seen and I am still loving it
90’s baby ❤.
i love you mr. DJ Usher 💃🏼🥰🤗💖
Screw the remake 😒 this one is awesome
ICONIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok but the front man with the white shirt was killing it
One of my favorite movie dance scenes 😍💃
No high school dance has ever been this cool 🤣
I was very disappointed when prom was not lit like this
The best scene of the movie
This is such a great movie.
Rip paul walker
It’s funny, you’d never suspect that everyone in this school was a professional dancer...
iconic!
USHER, best movie DJ ever!
Who's here after that dreadful prom dance from he's all that. LMAO
Usher ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is Bryan's life before he met Dom
This scene confused the heck out of me the first time I saw this movie in the best way. It just caught me completely off guard. I was like wait. What did I just see?!! I remember rewinding it to make sure I didn’t just imagine it. It was so out of place with the rest of the movie but so fun and so well done!
Usher was the DJ!
love the professional dancers
"Everyone at this school is a professional dancer." - Not Another Teen Movie
I laughed at the thought of the whole school choreographing this months in advance
Lol why can't my prom be like this ?
This movie is why my prom was disappointing
My boy Paul Walker is in this movie
Weeeeeeey hace 23 años ,ya estoy anciano 😭
Who would have thought there would be so many professional dancers at a high school prom.
i want to do this as a flash mob
Nobody can beat the 90s cool era
Usher's done a great DJ-Performance
I’m glad they put a similar dance scene in He’s All That. It’s just as ridiculous and unrealistic. 😂
Freddie was fine Asf and Usher is a legend! 💚
2000 was the best year !!!!
Cena icônica!!👏👏👏👏
time was never get old, time is timeless
*i dont like he`s all that
I love watching them dance
When you can tell that is not Freddie in the last dance scene, Taylor is there in front of him in the “pyramid” but there is just enough facial difference that you know it’s a dance double. Not to mention Freddie never removes his jacket but pretty sure they try to imply their that’s him.
People really overexaggerate what this scene was. There's like 20-30 students that were dance club members, everyone else was standing and watching, and the main characters didn't even know what they were doing. It wasn't like the entire school broke out into a choreographed dance, lol.
THE DJ (usher) did say show me the dance I teached you ..
I miss the days when every high schooler was a professional dancer. 😂
I feel like this is where wedding dance entrances stemmed from lol
Eu amo essa parte do filme 😍🤩😘🥰
I was a freshman i college when this movie came out and i was forced to watch it over and over again by my GF. This scene in particular gives me PTSD of that time in my life
I love this scene ❤️
I love when Usher started telling all of them to split like the red sea. I saw Sarah Michelle Gellar from Buffy the Vampire Slayer in this movie but wonder if she was at this prom or not.
❤💗💜🇧🇿WHY I woke up this ? Cute couple ! Gotch Ya !
Love how realistic these movies were..
Those are some interesting dance moves they have there
Seems logical. Everyone danced like that in the 90s at their prom. I don't know what kinda school they're at but nobody at my school danced like that. It's like they're professional dancers.
I became an instant fan of Fatboy Slim because of this movie.
usher was the radio dj through out the movie
This never happened at my prom. Then again, not everyone was actually 20-25 years old either.
Release the dancers!
It's obvious that the shots of Usher were filmed after the movie finished shooting and added in post production. Someone noticed that it was nonsensical that all the promgoers were perfectly in synch with their dancing. So Usher came in and gave instructions.
Usher is in this? Amazing
This dance scene was much better in my head as a kid vs me as an adult
I seriously don't know wtf happened with the remake smh if it ain't broke don't fix it lol
This is the most ridiculous scene of all the movie xD
Oh, that's Gretchen! 😄
I miss Paul Walker lol
Eu amo esse filme ♡
Qual é o nome do filme?
I've never seen this movie but I'm quite sure this is the most worth it scene. By the way, did white americans just turn into pro dancers just hearing the announcer?!
The graduation scene is good too. It is the end but it shows that it is just high school.
Yes, yes, a thousand times.....lala
Goodnight..
me encanta esta pelicula me recuerda a mi infancia
Exactly how my senior prom went.
Best scene
Whenever I see this clip, I always want to have my hair cut short like the blonde girl, she looks like she is having the best time.
When did they have time to learn all the choreography? 😂
Guiedment is everything about my parents
Please don't forget .... these were still just 'High School' Seniors🤪
Funny how many of the comments talk about how the entire school has a bunch of professional dancers.
Why does this have like way better cinematography than the remake 20 years later?
New one looks cheap
Because this one was made for theatrical release and the new one was made for Netflix so it has lower production value.
Because this dance scene you transition into more naturally then the random long dance scene in the 2021 remake. I was confused as hell wondering if we just transitioned to Stomp the Yard or something lol.
@@R7v4 There's plenty of quality looking Netflix movies. This just didn't happen to be one of them. Also since the new one was made during the pandemic, one assumes things had to be carefully maintained with both how many extras were on set and what the choreography looked like to not put people at risk.
The dance from the remake sucked tbh
When everyone turns into a PROFESSIONAL DANCER.
At 0:36 he says "alright dance club, let me see what you got" ... so I took it the people dancing in sync were the dance club.
No todos, solo el club de baile
🤣😂🤣
Ted Mosby in Not another teen movie.
Lol formal
"Funny isnt it? You would never suspect that everyone in this school is a professional dancer."
+Eamon McGillicuddy I was gonna say that........ but you beat me by only 4 months lol
it's called choreography
+Eamon McGillicuddy we do this at my school all the time at least 3 songs half the ppl break out into a choreographed flash mob bc we've performed it before or shocker it's a dance craze!!!
jennylane Jennifer Its called a joke
jennylane Jennifer he's quoting the parody of She's all that(Not another teen movie)
"Funny, isn't it? You would never suspect that everyone in this school is a professional dancer."
Michael Ashton not another teen movie

Someone commented the exact same thing a year before you
You coppied this from someone else
Just saw He's All That and they really thought they could replicate this masterpiece.
they did???
@@la_monga ywo
@@la_monga With Addison Rae of all people🙄
@@la_monga for real. I can’t stop watching the dance off in hes all that
@@la_monga they tried lol
I would have rather been a teen in the 90s
I was, at least up until 1999.
I was it wasn’t that great... this is so well choreographed, an timed so everything matches
being a teen now would seriously SUCK
I was a teen in the mid 2000's early 2010's :(
Nah, I graduated the year this movie came out. Never had synchronized dances like this at any of the proms I went to, nor did we have a campus DJ for my school. So cheated.
I just remember a group of girls trying to recreate this at a homecoming dance, only 4 people were part of it, but I must applaude their achievement no matter how small.
I hope they’re living their lives
Which year did you go to high school?
@@AllenHanPR would have been the 99/00 school year.
