I just watched this for nostalgia and had forgotten how good the Toronto fans were to Verlander and the Tigers that day. Thanks for helping make that day special, Blue Jays fans. That's a class act and is much appreciated.
Sincerly,
A Tigers Fan
Bud probably a Yankee fan 🇨🇦 hater 🇺🇸🔫
As long as it wasn't a really important game (no game in May really is), and your team is losing that badly.. Any baseball fan would start to root for history after about the 6th or 7th inning. I've been to probably 100 baseball games and a 2 hit shutout is the closest I ever saw to a no-no.
Probably the only no-no I've seen is braves get no hit by the phillies on Labor Day in 2014 I think.
In general Canadian fans are better behaved.
Jack Son hahaha really what about that guy that threw a whole beer at a player
4:20 is the perfect sign of a no-hitter lmao.
All 4 infielders had that ball. Any other situation (besides a playoff game or something), maybe only 2 of them are making sure to get there.
Should be 8 in Tigers history and we all know what I am talking about.
Yes - The Imperfect Game.
Galaraga. Man that one had to sting.
I watched that one....yeah it hurt for sure
@Kenneth Cox 2010 game against the indians. Armando Galarraga should’ve had a perfect game but the first base ump blew the call on what should’ve been the last out, called him safe at first but replays showed he was out
He had a better than perfect game if u ask me. He had to get one extra out after the bad call in which he got. So really 28 up 28 down 💯
This was a solid team effort. The whole team should've been credited a no-hitter. Some of the best defensive baseball I've ever seen.
Justin Sane to get a no hitter or perfect game requires everyone, at every position to be dialed in and on their A game. Technically it belongs only to the pitcher but everyone is aware how critical the team is when these things go down. I’d bet verlander showed some real appreciation to them after the game
?
"Hey JV ease up on the throttle today, okay?"
"Yeah sure thing"
*hits 101 mph*
- And Verlander just did it to the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre AGAIN this afternoon!!
ckendall67 yeah
Good luck in Houston, Verlander. Pleasure watching you in a Tigers uniform
Im from the future. He gets his 3rd career no hitter against the blue jays in toronto💀
Verlander is a class act who always acted with dignity in a Tiger uniform and worked his ass off all through the years and tried to help the team win. Thanks JV. From a Tiger fan since 1973
I was at this game with my friends as a celebration for my 11th birthday that happened 3 days earlier. Seeing this no-hitter was one of my best birthday presents ever!! A day I will never forget!
Man, out of boredom I have watched a few of these MLB no hitter cuts in a row and I am not saying that it is luck, but you need a few good breaks. In this no hitter in particular, there is some seriously stellar defense happening behind Verlander. But Verlander was dealing. Good for him.
Theres always at least 1 really good defensive play that saves it. Cabrera had a nice jumping catch at 1st. Its not common for the pitcher to make nice plays with the glove but the way Verlander got to the ball that hit off his leg was impressive
Thank you Justin! Very heartbroken to see you leave Detroit... Thank you so much for the memories that I will always have of watching you with my dad growing up. Now that he's gone, it's hard to lose you too... Good luck! Go Tigers!
No one else is saddened that he was oh so close to a PERFECT GAME? He only allowed one base runner! That almost brings me to tears.
His look at the end says it all
He just did it’s again in an Astros uniform, go JV!
Had to look back to the days when he packed a 102 MPH heater
Nick R and wasn’t as good
@@braydenmiluszusky1168 Verlander was amazing with the Tigers tho?
Verlander may have three no hitters under his belt, but he'll never approach Nolan Ryan's record of seven, much less break it.
Kevin Miller he doesn’t have too 3 no hitters is an accomplishment
Tigers need to see if he's willing to be their pitching coach in the future
You gotta love the pitcher-catcher relationship. That little moment verlander and avila had before the rest of the team came was priceles
Closest I came to witnessing a no hitter, was Armando Gallaraga's near perfect game. Watched it at a local poker room the day it happened. Went to the game the following day. The owner, the late, great Mike Illitch, presented him with a brand new Corvette convertible. Then, in a total class move, manager Jim Leyland had Gallaraga present the day's lineup card to home plate umpire Jim Joyce, who, the night before TOTALLY admitted his mistake. It was a "feel good" moment for the ages !!!
Best pitcher of his generation. He'll always be a Tiger to me.
one of the best years ive ever seen by a pitcher. And now, 8 years later, after seemingly passed by his prime, he appears to have an even better season brewing.
JV.... Congrats on your WS win. You are sorely missed.
Signed,
Another Tigers fan
8 years into today, he's doing it again.
What an amazing team. Great memories.
Toronto fans being classy. Their team got shut out and they’re clapping and cheering for him. Can’t help but respect that.
Side note, that’s how you know they’re real baseball fans there. No hitters are rare so to witness it, that’s special.
I love seeing Verlander pitch to Avila, that's a good duo there
It’s called a battery, not a duo..
so humble with the first pump
Justin verlander has been a top five pitcher in the big league since day one. At 35 justin Verlander is pitching as well as he ever has just wait until he the 2018 postseason. I'm calling it right now justin verlander and the Astros will repeat as champions.
this guy threw harder as the game progressed
Michael Gonzalez he's always been like that and still is....I've never understood how that's possinle
Fun fact: That was the JP Arencibia's first walk of his entire career. He hasn't walked since.
lol
wtf are you talking about???
www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/arencjp01.shtml
watch the base on balls
bari dante he was joking
all right I have to say, the description for this video is completely redundant. "Justin Verlander throws the second no-hitter of his career and the seventh in Tigers history, getting all 27 outs without a hit". yeah no shit there wasn't a hit in a no hitter
+robbeh salz uhm bro. you can walk a guy with 2 out then either FO, GO, or SO the very next batter making it so he faces a total of 28 batter. in other words he pitched a Imperfect Perfect game, since he faced the minimum but had a base runner. Idiot. cmon now know your facts before acting stupid.
+x DMR Mrkiller (xDMRmrkiller) 27 OUTS, not facing 27 BATTERS.
+epilepticshrimp he faced 27 batters. the MINIMUM
Louis Adams who? verlander? even though it was a no hitter, meaning he faced more than 27 batters?
robbeh salz there's people who actually ask "how is it a no hitter if there were _ runner(s) on base?"
Thank You Detroit Tigers fans for supporting Verlander helping the Astros win the World Series
We love JV !
That was the game that lit a Fire under the Tigers to start their Quest for the AL Central Title in 2011.
First Ballot Hall of Famer
When J.V pitched for our tigers every time he took the mound you knew you could see a no hitter every time
It’s insane how must class Toronto fans had, they knew it was a part of history and they supported that
I bet all 14 fans at the game in Toronto were really excited to watch a no no
8 of them were drunk hockey fans who stumbled into the wrong place.
2:18 Verlander's lucky that was a Encarnacion a big slow guy
BmoreFan219 That's true
And thats honestly what's so awesome about baseball..those unique situations where if thats almost anyone else running, he's probably on base.
I saw the two lines
"Verlander has done it again!"
And
"The second no hitter in his young career!"
In my Detroit tigers hometown heroics DVD. Those dislikes are Blue Jays fans
old verlander was elite man
have you seen his ERA since the all-star break? dudes been killing it. Houston is a good fit for him. hurts me to say that as a Tigers fan, but I'm rooting for them since my team sucks this year
regression the comment was posted years ago
Who's here after he did it again?
Congrats again sir. As of today marks another one!
Brandon Inge is one of the best defensive 3B of all time. So smooth.
Thanks Toronto fans for your support.
Aaaaand just got his third in the same ballpark
And 10 years later, Spencer Turnbull throws the 8th no-hitter in Tigers history!
Oh no no no he didn't do that again ! Good job Verlander! He did it again yesterday. No hitter number three is in the bag
He just did it again against the jays
ASTROS NO HITTER!!!
This was a perfect game. 27 up 27 down. The batter JV walked was forced out in the double play.
alan Tony for it to be a perfect absolutely no one can reach base at any time
0:04 : Verlander did indeed "Limit the damage early." :)
1:07 "YOU SUCK" 😂😂😂
I don't know how in the world this team didn't win WS.
When Jay's fans weren't bandwagons...
They'd show the same love even though they are good now. I'd like to think most home fans at any park would give a strong ovation.
I was at Verlander's first no hitter (I love saying that) and the emotions you get from witnessing that are pretty intense. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a little tear forming leaving the stadium.
+Brandon Lehman I was there too. Unfortunately I was only 4 and could care less about anything but the ferris wheel.
Astinn Gaming More like "when jays fans weren't dicks"
2017 jays had an awful season, still top attendance in the AL this year.
- "When Texas Rangers fans weren't butthurt"
Best bday present I ever got
That comebacker though.
God I miss this team
I just got recommended this the day after he threw one against the blue jays
Wow TH-cam just recommended this to me
When verlander gets his third no hitter
2:17 encarnacion's stance and swing back then was teh lolz
That will be epic if Verlander throws a perfect game.
JV in Detroit and now in Houston has not won a World Series game. Will the Hall be calling without that elusive big game series win!
I’m here after he no-hit Toronto AGAIN.
Haha same mad respect for JV beast of a pitcher
Sept. 1nd 2019 No hitter #3
Who is watching this after his 3rd one
Today is the anniversary of JV's No Hitter vs TOR
September 1 is the new anniversary
Verlander is the greatest pitcher of all time @ me please
Anyone else watching when Verlander threw another no hitter in Tortonto ?!
⚾️⚾️⚾️
"limit the damage early"
JV: Say no more
Miss him as a tiger
Ah, everyone except the right-fielder got in on the defensive act. Now JV has three no-no's.
God I wish my Tigers would have won one of those last 2 World Series appearances so he would have had one with Detroit.
Who’s here cause of verlander’s recent no-hitter
One ball away from a perfect game.
Who’s here after he just threw another against the jays
And that walk was probably a strikeout with a better frame
Surprised these announcers didn't jinx it
Who’s here after watching his 2nd no hitter against the Jays?
I was at this game! Yes I was only 5 but I was there!!
Verlander was still reaching 99mph last year? Damn, what happened
he is still topping out at about 97 but average is 94-95
He still is, to this day
It is not like the balls were never even leaving the infield. All fortunately went right into the outfielders.
5:40
No hitter
4:02 call New York
Literally an inch away from a prefect game
If you think about it, JV should really have 5 or 6 no-hitters already.
lol really nice one youtube 4 years later no hitter again
No one even notices it’s a perfect game
It's not, he walked someone in the 8th
Austin Jackson may be the only position player to be on the side of 2 no-hitters in a career. Would have been 3 if they didn't blow Galaragga's game.
Who’s here after number three?
I am Way to go JV!
Why is this in my recommended once he throws his 3rd one
Why does verlander look like jack from lost
Anthony Delgado I get it
Koop Dogg haha do you also see the similarities ?
Anthony Delgado Sorry what, he was breathing too hard I couldn't hear you.
+ Angel D Rodriguez I agree
If only he threw that ball 3 inches to the righy
Watching both no hitters makes me miss these days and Mario and Rod so much. Nowadays were stuck with Boring Gibby who's been ruining my life since 2015. Worst commentators ever: Kirk Gibson, Joe Buck, George Blaha, Greg Kelser, Jason Strayhorn, Ken "The Hawk" Harrelson, Fred McLeod, Austin Carr, Marv Albert, Brent Musburger, Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Ralph Lawler, Grant Napear, and Mike "Doc" Emerick. Best commentators ever: Ken Daniels, Mickey Redmond, Mario Impemba, Rod Allen, Neil Funk, Stacey King, Gary Thorne, Bill Clement, Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth, Don Orsillo, Dave O'Brien, Dennis Eckerlsey, Jerry Remy, Pat Hughes, Ron Coomer, Len Kasper, Jim Deshaies, Bill Land, Sean Elliot, Bob Fitzgerald, Jim Barnett, Frank Beckmann, Jim Branstatter, Dan Dierdorf, Johnny Most, Chick Hearn, Joel Meyers, Bill Macdonald, and Stu Lantz.
Why does he remind me of Billy chapel from that movie
Watched this after JV got traded and HOLY SHIT WHAT HAPPENED TO SCOTT SIZEMORE?
4 years later no hitter
its amazing what women can do. kate upton made this man lose focus
+Toastghost Or maybe it was the surgery....
I'd lose focus if I had Kate Upton too.
hes still a beast
Mr. Rod Justin Verlander is still good even with Kate Upton by his side
I mean shouldve won the cy young last year
Jays fans are great
Ausmus would have pulled JV in the 9th...
Uhh his ball 4 pitch wasn't a ball, that was a CLEAR strike
Umps ruining perfect games is their favorite thing to do
and..... Chris Illitch - in his infinite wisdom- traded JV off for a bag of batting practice balls.
How did those Tigers teams never win?
