Kerala’s Vibrant Folk and Classical Dances Enthrall Chandigarh Audience
Kerala Tourism brought the rich cultural heritage of the state to life in Chandigarh with a mesmerizing showcase of traditional and folk art forms. Held at The Lalit Chandigarh, the event featured electrifying performances of Theyyam, Mohiniyattam, Kathakali, and Kalaripayattu, leaving the 200-plus audience spellbound.
The afternoon began with Mohiniyattam, Kerala’s graceful classical dance, inspired by Mohini, the female incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Dancers in their signature ivory and gold attire performed intricate movements, captivating the spectators with their elegance.
The performance lineup also included the ritualistic dance of Theyyam, known for its elaborate masks and dramatic storytelling, and Kathakali, Kerala’s iconic dance-drama, with its striking green-faced makeup and powerful expressions. Adding to the spectacle was Kalaripayattu, India’s oldest martial art, showcasing stunning combat techniques.
As part of its revamped tourism strategy, Kerala Tourism is highlighting the state’s diverse cultural offerings beyond its famed beaches and backwaters. Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas emphasized this shift, stating, “We want to transform Kerala into an interconnected tourist haven, offering a mix of experiences-from houseboats and eco-adventures to heritage and cultural exploration.”
With events like these, Kerala Tourism continues to position the state as a holistic travel destination, blending nature, adventure, and culture into an unforgettable experience.
चंडीगढ़ में केरल के पारंपरिक और लोक नृत्यों की मनमोहक प्रस्तुति
केरल पर्यटन विभाग ने चंडीगढ़ में एक भव्य सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया, जिसमें राज्य की समृद्ध लोक और पारंपरिक कलाओं का शानदार प्रदर्शन किया गया। द ललित चंडीगढ़ में हुए इस आयोजन में थेय्यम, मोहिनीअट्टम, कथकली और कलारीपयट्टु की अद्भुत प्रस्तुतियों ने 200 से अधिक दर्शकों को मंत्रमुग्ध कर दिया।
कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत मोहिनीअट्टम से हुई, जो भगवान विष्णु के स्त्री अवतार “मोहिनी” से प्रेरित है। पारंपरिक सफेद और सुनहरे परिधानों में सजी नृत्यांगनाओं ने अपनी कोमल और मनमोहक भाव-भंगिमाओं से दर्शकों को मोह लिया।
इसके बाद, थेय्यम की प्रस्तुति हुई, जो अपने विस्तृत मुखौटे और नाटकीय कहानी कहने की शैली के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। इसी क्रम में कथकली, जो अपने हरी मुखाकृति (ग्रीन-फेस मेकअप) और गहन भाव-भंगिमाओं के लिए जाना जाता है, ने दर्शकों को रोमांचित किया। कार्यक्रम में कलारीपयट्टु, भारत की सबसे प्राचीन मार्शल आर्ट, ने भी अपनी जबरदस्त युद्धक तकनीकों का प्रदर्शन किया।
केरल पर्यटन विभाग अब अपने पर्यटन अभियान में बदलाव करते हुए केवल समुद्र तटों और बैकवाटर्स से आगे बढ़कर राज्य की सांस्कृतिक विविधता को भी बढ़ावा दे रहा है। पर्यटन मंत्री पी.ए. मोहम्मद रियास ने इस पर जोर देते हुए कहा, “हम केरल को एक परस्पर जुड़े पर्यटन स्थल के रूप में विकसित करना चाहते हैं, जहां पर्यटकों को हाउसबोट और एडवेंचर एक्टिविटीज़ से लेकर सांस्कृतिक और ऐतिहासिक अनुभवों तक की विस्तृत श्रृंखला मिल सके।”
इस तरह के आयोजनों के माध्यम से केरल पर्यटन विभाग राज्य को एक संपूर्ण पर्यटन स्थल के रूप में स्थापित कर रहा है, जो प्रकृति, रोमांच और संस्कृति का अनूठा संगम प्रदान करता है।
