Bodark makes great knife handles. Once your handle is shaped rub your bare skin against it. The oils will cause it to glow gold

Amazing how an ugly chunk of wood could be transformed into a beautiful piece of furniture. Is the sawdust usable for anything?

I suppose the sawdust is the same as any other species in general. It’s very carbon rich and can be acidic, so for the sake of building soil it needs a lot of nitrogen contribution to properly compost.

My 1220 has been a tough little mill. Even if stuff does “break” I can usually do a bush fix or go to town for a few bolts and get it going again. All in, I love it. Only downside is it’s a fully manual mill, but if you’re used to that then it’s ok. It is labor intensive, but if you can stick to cutting premium price ($/BF) sort of stuff then it’s a money making SOB! I spend some time up front planning a log to minimize how many times I have a to deal with rolling it over or setting slabs on and off for edging or whatever. Some good planning up front will pay you back handsomely later with less time spent handling. The TK community is awesome and I’ve never had any problems with customer support! 😁
