Nomen + verb = Komposita, the article of the Komposita Nomen is always the article of the last Nomen of the Komposita. Since we are „Nominalisierung“ the verb in this case the Komposita will always have the „das“, but in case of Kompositas made out of two or more Nomens, the article will depend on the last Nomen of the Komposita, hence it can also be „der“ oder „die“. I have also heard that we can not make Kompositas on our own whim, the Komposita needs to pre exist in the German dictionary „Duden“ for it to be valid. Otherwise, the Komposita will become „falsch“ and we will look like idiots to the examiner!
