Tiger (Chota Matkasur) gets angry and growls as jeep hits a stone in Tadoba Tiger Reserve (TATR)

  • Junior or Chota Matkasur is a big juvenile male seeking a territory in Tadoba Andhari Tiger reserve or TATR. He was sitting gracefully in the middle of the road and we had a brief terrifying moment when he got irritated because our jeep hit some large stones while backing. The commotion attracted his attention and his menacing looks sent shivers down our spines. What an experience! This guy who is bigger than Matkasur, the reigning male tiger, is huge and will be a force to reckon with in the next few years.
    When we saw the tiger the excitement spread like a virus in the body!
    In more recent times he has moved to the Navegaon area and settled himself. He is a very strong and huge tiger and has mastered to hunt and live independently now. He has had scuffles with other tigers and also fought with Maya and left the panderpouni ain bodi area. That he killed a mighty big Gaur or Indian Bison speaks volumes of his ability to take on large prey.
    These days he is not often sighted and moves like a spy in the jungle.
    Its heartening to know that owing to the Lockdown in the wake of Covid-19 Pandemic, TATR authorities have decided to telecast the daily updates of TATR through the TH-cam Channel (TATR 4K Live). What a wonderful thing to do by the autorities!

    Tiger is magestic animal . But not An Animal of our definition. Will never touch you in anger mode. I had encountered a female tiger in Nagzira with cubs due to our disturbance, cubs scattered. She got angry ,charged our group 12times .we were on morning bird watch walk.Walk I.e. were on ground . Sitting still.but that animal didn't touch . I was so close ,I could see her whisker hairs and face hairs standing in anger . But no she didn't touch me .That day I got lesson that being mighty with control on anger makes Tiger a King , Magnificent Animal. I remember that day of 2may 2002....and respect increased for The Tiger....

      The records so far is straight. The tiger sees the jeep as one unit. There is an unwritten rule the tiger understands--that this jeep just keeps moving but does not interfere with them. The jeeps are driven by trained drivers and the trackers that compulsorily accompany them are experts in animal behaviour. Generally, it is expected that tourists are serious nature lovers and not wannabe, curious onlookers. If an untoward incident happens it is 99.9 per cent not the tiger's fault.

In the savanna, tourists roam in open jeeps or just with a canvas covering the whole day and are surrounded by lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, rhinos and cape buffaloes. Yet, no one makes any comment. Then why this comment here? Have you been to Indian forests to experience its beauty. It’s more natural than game safaris of Africa. As another example, our head-on encounter with Mighty Mahaman male in Bandhavgarh was so thrilling because it’s rare to sight a tiger. We were, yet again, lucky to film it.

      @@gmvn19 this is my personal advise, I booked 7 Safari's, both
      morning and afternoon Safari's, total 3.5days. I could barely spotted 1, that to from very
      far only visible through binoculars.
      I was very disappointed
      But the last day which is 4 day, as we have afternoon flight from nagpur I decided to do my last Safari as early as possible, bcoz
      Believe me we spotted 4big tigers and Maya with Cubs between 06Am to 0630am . Trust me then I understood , like humans animals also don't like to go out during sunny hours. So the best time to go is to start your hotel or resort by 5. I bet you will never get dissatisfied.

    cheetahs, lions, leopards & tigers have jumped onto open vehicles and 1 day it will be for them a meal on wheels. Ban open vehicles befor it happens.

    • @itsnotgonnahappen6031
      @itsnotgonnahappen6031 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it happened recently with a leopard that grabbed onto a man's arm that he was dangling outside of his window. The leopard wouldn't let go so the only option was for the man to drive he's jeep over the leopard and the leopard ended up with it's back legs broken. This incident could of been prevented if the driver had his window shut.

    • @kasturiranganp
      @kasturiranganp  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, actually the royal Bengal tiger is taller and length wise bigger than a Siberian tiger. The Siberian tiger or Amur tiger is heavier. It also has for more density of hair to protect it from extreme winters.

    Three vehicles overcrowded with humans parked side by side blocking the entire road. I bet the tiger must have thought what a bunch of idiots he was looking at (no wonder he yawned!) and that they were as tasteless as they were ill-mannered to even bother pouncing on and eat. Really, there ought to be rules and regulations on the number of vehicles allowed in these animal reserves and how the tourists and their driver ought to conduct themselves. And what's with the corny sound effects. There ought to be nothing other than the sounds of the forest. The sight of the tiger and nature is majestic enough to require stupid sound effects. Sheesh!
