A literal translation of the original Greek text for Philippians 2:9-11 says that every tongue will "acclaim" that Jesus is Lord, not "confess". Every tongue will be ACCLAIMING (joyously proclaiming) that Jesus is Lord. Our Lord and Saviour will draw ALL things to himself! Do not cheapen his victory. May the blessings of God be with you all.
Thank you Father. I am truly grateful. I will always honor my freedom. I will always work hard and I am greatful my chains are gone and to overcome my addiction. Thank God for the cross. I will honor my family job and soon to be wife. I will be a good steward.
Wow! Just a few minutes prior to watching this video and having NO CLUE WHATSOEVER on what Pastor John would be discussing in his "Look in the Book" video, I was reading on Wikipedia about Unitarian Universalism. Then, I thought, I usually watch something from Desiring God Saturday night, so let's see what Pastor John has up there, and HERE THIS WAS. Maybe the Lord will bring a Universalist my way soon, and now I will have some ammunition to refute their error. What an insightful commentary and interpretation of this verse. Pastor John used scripture to interpret scripture and that is the way to do it. Thank you, Desiring God Ministries!
Has John Piper ever talked about what the 'elect', the 'saints', will be doing when they are reigning with Christ? This is super critical in understanding the plan of universal salvation. Those very 'elect' are ruling and judging the earth (psalm 2:9 and Revelations). And then we see the purpose of judgment in Isa 26:9 - it is so the people learn righteousness. This is still to come.
🙏🙏🙏🌎 Thank God I have overcome the world. Thank God I will always honor my marriage and family. Thank God I will always honor my respect my freedom and work hard. Thank God for another blessed opportunity.
Colossians 1: 23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
Instead of looking to other books of the Bible to determine what "all things" refers to, I suggest looking at the immediate context: 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. - Colossians 1:15-20
This should be the winning comment for this video. You are spot on. All he did was prove that the verse in Isaiah doesn't literally include everything. The one in Colossians does literally include everything, which was the point of the entire passage that you quoted in context.
John Piper: “Look how the paragraph is organized. The scope of verses 15-17 is all creation. The whole universe is in view. And the point is that Christ is preeminent over all creation, because he made it and he holds it all together. “But then in verses 18-21 the focus shifts and the scope is no longer the whole universe but the new creation, namely, the church. Notice how verse 18 turns from creation to the church: ‘He is the head of the body, the church.’ Then it speaks of his being the firstborn from the dead, that is, he was the great first fruits of the new creation, the church that will one day rise from the dead and fill the earth with his glory. “Then, in this context of the church, we read in verse 20, that ‘he will reconcile all things to himself in heaven and on earth.’ . . . Christ created all things in the old creation and he is preeminent over all (that is the point of verses 15-17). And everything that belongs to the new creation he will reconcile to himself and be head over all (that is the point of verses 18-20).” www.desiringgod.org/messages/the-hope-of-the-gospel
Thanks for sharing this. I still don’t see how “all things, whether in heaven or on earth” literally means “all things” in verse 16 but only “some things” 4 verses later. O well. I still love Piper and am glad to call him my Brother :)

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, Not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”- Ephesians 2:8-9. repent and put your faith in Jesus’ finished work on the cross. your sin paid for by his death on the cross, and his righteousness credited to you to make you right with God
Wouldn't a God that asks us to forgive our enemies and love them be an hypocrite if he can't himself forgive them? This is a serious question, I'm seeking the truth with all my heart recently and I felt that the idea that everyone would be saved eventually extremely comforting. Not for myself but for others that I feel might not accept this immediately.
Pier-Luc Lalande freewill is what drive us to destruction. God is not to blame. He gifted us with every bit of detail unique to own. If god wanted to intervene and prevent everyone from sinning, then why make us in the first place? There surely isnt a need for that. Alao God loves us so much that he sent his only son to wash away our sin and made a covenant to not show his wrath until the judgment day of 2nd coming. Which he still does keep. Now we as a human being with freewill keep choosing to destroy everything around bash one another keep going down the hills. Who is to blame? Its quite selfish to think everyone who keeps sinning and not turn his way around to be saved when hes given many many choices and guided but keep refusing. Love isnt a responsibility. It should come natural. No one wants love that is forced or done in a way just to get something back. He wants us to love him and keep showing the way to heaven yet we refuse to see. Many will be blinded and wint even recognize jesus coming even in churches and christians. Many questions but its a slow walk with God u cannot understand just in one day. Jesus said those who r patient and awake are to be saved. Read the bible and pray about it. It is quite foolish for anyone to say “everyone” will be saved becuz god loves when clearly it isnt so. Dont try and understand why god does what god does with our puny little mind and try and put him on our standards. U will see going the long road walking with God the answers. Ask him
@@dailylifeofanything399 what a bunch of nonsense, man, your fallacies make no sense whatsoever and are self serving mumble jumble due to your personal bias and blindfold understanding of the scriptures (eh, you don't even know what the scriptures say, you just blindly go with what flawed and twisted translation you have been brainwashed with)
God is not being hypocritical. Yes, God loves and forgives all of us as he sends his only son to die for us. But if our enemies refuses to accept that love, then it's not God's fault that they are damned because they somehow have to pay for their sins. If it's not through Jesus' blood, then it's through their own demise. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.
@@pandadude5169 That would be hypocritical because "eye for an eye" was refuted by Jesus in Matthew 5:38. "That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe." 1 Timothy 4:10 Do you believe that or not?
@@dailylifeofanything399 we are saved by grace not because we choose him he choose us he forgive our trespasses. ‘Remember Romans 9:15-16 ‘ For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." 16 So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. (Romans 9:15, ESV) .... so if you are saved by grace not because of your will or exertion how do you genuinely say they (sinners) didn’t choose to repent or come to Christ? God is hot and he is good you don’t need to defend him l! If you don’t understand, just pray that he revealed these things to you don’t comment on what you don’t understand. I cannot explain the verses about hell but am convinced God will reconcile all things through Christ because his mercy endures forever!
Beyond Today needs to take notes bc they took this verse completely out of context! The guy speaking said his dad wasn't much of a believer but he said he wasn't worried about him because he'd be saved anyway bc of this verse. Thank you John Piper for clarifying this for me. That guy left me scratching my head...
It’s just certain scripture like 2 Thessalonians 1:3-10 “3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, 4 so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and [a]tribulations that you endure, 5 which is manifest[b] evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; 6 since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with [c]tribulation those who trouble you, 7 and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10 when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who [d]believe, because our testimony among you was believed.” It just points out that there is no other outcome than ECT. I ask how does this verse support universalism when it comes to the end times and Gods judgement
It makes sense that God would reconcile himself with everyone. God is compassionate and merciful, but above that He is Love. If we are told to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us by Jesus, it makes sense that God would do that Himself. I'm not saying we should do whatever we want since God is Love and will always forgive us and receive us with open arms. If Jesus told us to forgive 70 times 7, it is likely that God would forgive too. So could everyone end up in heaven despite what they have done? I honestly don't know, it's not in the Bible. Could hell be a metaphorical place and not a final destination? Once again, I don't know. I just wish everyone would try hard to be just as kind and as loving as God is towards them. Just try. Nothing is impossible for God. Whatever it is someone suffered that has hardened their heart, God can make it soft again. Even if we all end up going to the same place, which I understand is not what Piper means, but it's not impossible either, then loving our enemies gains even more weight in our lives.
It is in the bible. Revelation says a second death. Like living a lifeless life without god and then dieing once again and sealing your fate. It's odd when I look into this topic that people dont see the proof right before their eyes in God's word...
@@amunra1324 first off, God allpwed mankind to sin and fall in the Garden even though He knows all things beforehand. So if hell was reall, that would make Him immoral, injust and evil, sadistic. Second, Jews don't believe in hell, the scriptures given to them by God have no shred of evidence for hell (why would God conceal something so important from His chosen people?), they only mention Sheol, which means "the grave". Third, Jesus made it ckear that Gehenna (the lake of fire) is TEMPORARY, not everlasting. Whoever ends there will eventually be freed once they pay all their sins (I can't quote the biblical verse right now since I'm typing from a old tablet, but it's the part where Jesus tells to reconcile with your brother before we may be thrown in the jail, from whence we aren't going to leave until we pay the last penny -Matthew 5.21-26). Fourth: the bible is clear that just as by one man, Adam, all mankind died (spiritually and physically ), so by the second Adam, aka Jesus, all mankind will be made alive! How can the bible be any clear than that? (Read 1 Corinthuans 15:22) Also look up the literal meaning of the Greek words translated as everlasting/eternal (aion, aionios) and torment/punishment (basanos, kolasin (derived from kolazó)), don't just trust in the nitpicked word choices from biblical translations, they don't tell the whole story
Colossians 1: 23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
"That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe." 1 Tim. 4:10
Forced worship does NOT glorify God. ALL will worship freely. Also only humans. Demons do not have knees. And no one can confess Jesus as Lord without the Holy Spirit.
All will be made righteous, just as Romans 5 says "the many" (the same "many" in Adam) will be made righteous. This is how it happens: Do you see it? God's grace and God's judgments do the SAME thing - they teach righteousness and thus all will be made righteous!
I've heard from rabbis that hell is temporary!? I have alot of respect for the people of the book and i'm all for a temporary hell and that all will be saved. But I'm more for the truth.
History is his story it all begins with him meaning the Creator and Jesus and ends with him it is his story . So pray & repent for your soul be saved . Please everyone wake up! Please cry out ABBA FATHER AND JESUS!
Under the Earth means the dead. Hell means the grave. Not a place where people are burning in an everlasting torture chamber. 🙄 Things in Heaven - Angels Things ON Earth - those who are alive at Christ's return. Things UNDER the Earth - those who are dead. There will be two resurrections. Don't forget that.
Isaiah 66 is taken out of context. He even underscores it. Verse 24 is said DEAD BODIES. How can you be dead but still aware? Isaiah is about the kingdom (1000 yr reign) that will be established. Where people who dont live by the rule of God will die or cannot enter the kingdom, that again, is esteblished here on earth in jerusalem. And people will be cast outside of that place. Also every knee shall bow and confess. Not against their will because if you read the next line it is said, with their tongue. If you read the letter of the brother of Jesus. You'll notice that what the tongue speaks of, the whole body is filled with. So if their tongue confess, their whole entire body believes and confess it. Another point in 1cor 15, how come it is said Jesus must stay king UNTIL every enemy is defeated, the last enemy will be death? Which means everyone is alive then? Also the "hell" will be throne away in the lake of fire (rev)? So how does that workout? 1tim2:3-4 God wants everyone to come to the truth. Who here believes that God will fail at that? If you do, than you dont believe in an allmighty God. Because He cannot accomplish what He Wills.
I cried when i heard Johns prayer in the beginning of this! I could hear how he knows HOW MUCH is on stake here- If we preach eternel hell- and NOT salvation for ALL in Christ! (JOHN! I URGE YOU TO STUDY THE WORDS "ETERNAL" ON GREEK! AION, AIONIOS IS NOT THE MEANING OF ETERNAL! WE WILL HAVE LIFE "FOREVER" ACCORDING TO THAT "AGE" BUT ITS BECOUSE WE CANNOT 'DIE" I cant stress this enough, the judgment is not going on foreeever, BECOUSE the Word on GREEK does not mean foreeever.) Now back to "the lake of fire" of the second death. The book of revelation is actually 404 verses and 350 of them are conected to Old Testament. There (in OT) you can FIND EVERYTHING about what God is doing when He judges and what the OUTCOME of His judgements are. (....i praise You Lord! Your judgements have a purpose! Amen! Holy are you!, sorry i just had to praise a little bit here) You can read about the lake of fire (the one hwo revelation talks about, that is INFRONT of the saints and the lamb) in the book of Daniel for exempel. God IS the fire. Cleansing fire! Malawi says "On the Lords Day (the Day of judgement) He will cleance "The sons of Levi" in fire like cleancing silver and gold! So that they AGAIN will offer to THE LORD!! All Christians are cleances with the fire of The Holy Spirit. The "Word says- ALL (meaning ALL) shall be salted with fire. And we have yet another scripture that says "If soneones work burnes down, yet Will be SAVED-" BUT LIKE TROUGH FIRE" WHAT IS THE "FIRE" OF GOD?......LOVE!!! GOD IS LOVE! LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE
Instead of admiring this pastor, you should try to look at your bible. Try to figure out if it is true what he is saying. Because he leaves out important parts. For example the entire passage is about all things and suddenly the last part is not all things? So Jesus is not the first of all things then? Also Isaiah had nothing to do with this part of scripture. He spoke of the 1000 yr reign, which will end after.... a 1000 years. Then something new will happen. Read the bible dont admire other people who are just as you and I too much. It can lead you astray from the right path
The word aionian translated as eternal does not mean eternal. But age abiding. Paul was the biggest advocate for universal reconciliation but each will be restored in his own order. Just as all died in adam so shall all be made alive in christ each in his order. That's in 1 Corinthians. Read the whole verse. It shows you the order and when all is subjected under christ, then he will hand the kingdom to the father and God will be ALL in ALL. The biggest problem with doctrine is not looking into the Greek and also not properly dividing. Also understanding the gospel given to the jews vs the body of christ. God will have all come to him in the fullness of times. Eternal conscious torment in flames is a doctrine of demons. The lake of fire is the second "death." It also is not eternal but once again, age abiding. Gods will cannot be thwarted. What is Gods will? That all come to the knowledge of the truth. What did Jesus come to do? The will of the father. Is jesus a failure? Certainly not. Those who believe will rule and reign with christ. We were predestined. But all will eventually come to the knowledge of the truth. There is no such thing as human free will. All things work together according to his will. There can be only one with free will and that is our sovereign God. It is self righteous to believe only believers will be saved. When Jesus said it is finished he meant it.
You said: "Paul was the biggest advocate for universal reconciliation but each will be restored in his own order. Just as all died in adam so shall all be made alive in christ each in his order. That's in 1 Corinthians." Re-read 1 Cor 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. Notice what it says: "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." The qualifier is IN CHRIST All men are not IN CHRIST...so all men will not be made alive...as in Spiritually alive. Who puts men IN CHRIST ? God does This applies to the elect...those chosen of God (1 Cor 1:26-29)...it does not apply to all men because He doesn't choose all men. Context matters But by His doing you are IN CHRIST (1 Cor 1:30).
@@paulmichael5021 not all are chosen to have aionian life but ultimately all will be saved. Its a matter of right division. Read the rest and you will see that God will be all in all. The context is the comparison. The same all that died in Adam( thats all of us) are the same all that will be vivified in Christ. Each in his own order. The chosen ones have aionian life. Life up to the consummation where Christ hands the kingdom to the father and he becomes all in all.
No sir, the word 'eternal' absolutely does NOT mean without end!!! You need to rethink your understanding. ◄ 1 Timothy 2:4 ► Who will have ALL men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
+C R..What Jesus said..is Not my opinion. Jesus said to Seek Him and His Righteousness. He did Not say seek men in the bible..churches and pastors. You listen to all the scholars you want. I will Listen to Jesus. He is an Individual Personal Savior and gives me revelation the same as any scholar. What makes you think some scholar is any better than i am? The Pharisees were the scholars too. Jesus didn't seem to think much of them. Go for your Pharisees. I Will Stay with Jesus.
A begrudging confession of "every knee will bow" is not any kind of glorification for God. Its simple: "If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." "No one can say Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Spirit" "Every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord"
Hello pastor.... I have a doubt in phrase "to reconcile all things in heaven or earth" ...earth is sinful so it is important for god to reconcile earth to him but why "heaven" and why god wants heavenly livings to be reconciled to him?? It is already with god....!!
Because some heavenly beings are also in rebellion with God. Remember the adversary and his demons are heavenly beings. But they will be reconciled with Him because God loves alll of His creations. He hates our acts but loves us as a being.
Tangy I just don’t think that is a correct interpretation. If it was, then it would be clear in Colossians that it meant the new earth and new heaven. I have to think a bit more on this...
I have a great question, I am a young adult and living currently with my mom. I wanna know if it's obligatory to go to the same church as your mother ? And is it bad if you don't ?
Punishment is for thoughs who are dead without god. So it's possible for everyone left living to be saved. I dislike arguing over the matter. If one wants to belive otherwise. Thats not really loving thy neighbor, praying and hoping...is it.
I thought I was finally going to hear a good refutation to universal salvation based on the comments here. But yet again, another bible "scholar" fails to grasp the meaning of the word translated as eternal. These are the words aion and aionios. Greek words meaning an age or pertaining to an age (respectfully). Translating these words as eternal is an egregious error which I can only surmise was done on purpose.
Do you think God's dominion is limited? Context here matters. If you really understood Greek you would understand the way the word is used is not limited, but eternal.
@@Domtronic G165 αἰών aiōn ahee-ohn’ From the same as G104; properly an age; by extension perpetuity (also past); by implication the world; specifically (Jewish) a Messianic period (present or future): - age, course, eternal, (for) ever (- more), [ n-] ever, (beginning of the, while the) world (began, without end). "By extension perpetuity" so Interestingly even Stong's Concordance admits that this word means "properly an age" and only when you "extend" it outside of it's proper meaning can it mean perpetuity. Aion is age, plain and simple. It's where we get our English word "Eon" from. The two words that are typically used by the KJV to mean forever are usually Aion and Aionios. These two words relate in the same way that hour and hourly relate. So if aion means age, how could then aionios mean anything but belonging to an age?? It can't. I don't expect you to grasp this concept based on your bias. But let me attempt to simplify a bit better... Revelation 14:11 KJV (11) And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up **for ever and ever** : and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. The greek here is "ice aion aion" which Young's Literal Translation correctly translates as "ages of ages." What would be the point of saying eternities of eternities?? How many eternities are there? What is eternity + eternity? There's some context for you. Obviously the KJV translators had no answer for this either and come up with a convoluted translation such as forever and ever which our brains have been indoctrinated to take as something normal. But if you stop to think about what "forever and ever" is really saying, one can only conclude that it makes zero sense. Yes, our Lord is the Lord of the Aions and He will rule until all His enemies are put under his feet. Until God is all in all. 1 Corinthians 15:25-28 KJV (25) For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. (26) The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. (27) For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. (28) And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. God is all in all once all the Aions are consummated. Obviously, after that we continue to exist, since aside from "Aionian" life, we are also promised immortality. Just one last thing... Heb 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world [gk: Kosmos]: but now once in the end of the world [gk: Aions] hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. Read that verse above... and tell me, with a straight face that you truly believe that no funny business was done in translating the KJV. One English word (World), two different Greek words (Kosmos, Aion) ... IN THE SAME SENTENCE! If that doesn't at least lift an eye brow, I honestly can't help you. Obviously they couldn't say "but now in the end of eternity" cause then their whole deception would come crashing down. May God give us ears to hear and eyes to see. Amen.
@@Domtronic Deception, ignorance, pressure... does it really matter? It's easily provable that it was done. Motivation is irrelevant. It's like asking why do wolves attack sheep? Acts 20:29 KJV (29) For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. These wolves come in many forms... false doctrines, false prophets, deceptions (wolves in sheep clothing) etc. We are to "try the spirits..." 1 John 4:1 KJV (1) Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. This is why I never understood the KJV-only movement. God's Word isn't a translation, it's a living, breathing Word and we need to seek out the deep things within it via the Holy Spirit of God. 1 Corinthians 2:10 KJV (10) But God hath *REVEALED* them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV (14) But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Spiritual discernment is necessary to unlock the Word of God, only God can provide that. There is truly nothing that we contribute to our own salvation. Not even the desire to seek out truth comes from us. 2 Thessalonians 2:10 KJV (10) And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they *RECEIVED NOT* the love of the truth, that they might be saved. At the end of the day, God is control of everything, even the minute details. Ephesians 1:11 KJV (11) In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh *ALL THINGS* after the counsel of his own will
+AlittleFurther AlmostThere..Matthew 7:21.. Jesus Said.."Not everyone that saith to me in that day, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the Will of My Father which is in heaven." Here is your answer..Jesus said it. What is not to understand?
When Jesus was on earth he did a lot of great things, and at his death, he took the sin of the world so that any one who believes in him (trusts that we can be reconciled to God because of what Jesus has done) and confesses that he is Lord will be saved. Jesus came and lived the perfect life that no one else ever has, so we can now choose to believe that he did it for us. We need to believe in him because we can’t approach God On our own because God is holy and sin is not. But we are washed clean by Jesus’ blood when we believe that he did die to save us
I don't see that being saved and going to heaven are the same thing. There are even some of israel that won't be saved under the "new covenant" it says not all of israel.. reconciling is apparently a form of accounting. No (I don't accept any other persons understanding even if they are correct) I believe you are working about this issue where yes the blood was spilled and it is on someone's hands. that the blood is the life and the life of Jesus Christ was taken and that the Spirit is like Him as in christ that is a spiritual adam, or man, a spirit in the form of a man and that something is like that about it.
The Way you are Saved and Freed..is to realize mens opinions are not Gospel. Jesus said to Seek Him for HIS Righteousness. Jesus is the One Who Knows what is Right for you. You are then Saved and Freed from men opinions because you now Have Jesus to Help you and you do not have to depend on Men..like the OT people had to depend on the Pharisees..who abused them. How does this man know what Paul meant? He is making his own extrapolation.
He's doing what Bible teachers do, it's kinda his job since leaving Bethlehem. If you don't like these videos then it might be an idea to stop watching them.
Kathleen, many other evangelical scholars who are as officially educated as humanly possible in the scriptures, also agree with John Piper. One could say the same about yours or anybody's "opinion". The way to salvation is found in the saving grace of Christ. Only AFTER on has been converted (born again) can one actually seek the righteousness of Christ.
Reconciliation in the case of God and man is twofold. A holy God is reconciled in that justice has been satisfied at the Cross, and sinful man is reconciled in that, in the case of the believing sinner, his attitude of enmity towards God is changed to one of friendship. The verb "reconcile" is apokatalassō. Vincent says that "the compounded preposition apo gives the force of back, hinting at restoration to a primal unity." Lightfoot says; "The whole universe of things, material as well as spiritual, shall be restored to harmony with God." We must be careful here to remember that when Paul wrote "the all things" he did not include the lost in eternity. Any portion of Scripture must be considered in the light of what the rest of Scripture teaches.
Hello Brother Ken.

Colossians 1: 23
If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
Instead of looking to other books of the Bible to determine what "all things" refers to, I suggest looking at the immediate context:
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,
20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
And everything that belongs to the new creation he will reconcile to himself and be head over all (that is the point of verses 18-20).”

Ask him

@@dailylifeofanything399 we are saved by grace not because we choose him he choose us he forgive our trespasses. ‘Remember Romans 9:15-16 ‘ For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."
16 So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. (Romans 9:15, ESV) .... so if you are saved by grace not because of your will or exertion how do you genuinely say they (sinners) didn’t choose to repent or come to Christ? John needs some David Bentley Hart in his life.
It’s just certain scripture like 2 Thessalonians 1:3-10
“3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, 4 so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and [a]tribulations that you endure, 5 which is manifest[b] evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; 6 since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with [c]tribulation those who trouble you, 7 and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10 when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who [d]believe, because our testimony among you was believed.”
It just points out that there is no other outcome than ECT. I ask how does this verse support universalism when it comes to the end times and Gods judgement
What Paul wrote.
Awesome teaching!
@@amunra1324 what proof? All I see is your biased views and misunderstanding of the scriptures
@@wallacesousuke1433 what's your understanding then sir.
(Read 1 Corinthuans 15:22)
Also look up the literal meaning of the Greek words translated as everlasting/eternal (aion, aionios) and torment/punishment (basanos, kolasin (derived from kolazó)), don't just trust in the nitpicked word choices from biblical translations, they don't tell the whole story
Amen!
I often take a shot at Piper for his Calvinistic inconsistencies but I thought this explanation of everyone eventually being saved was excellent.
Carefully read the entire chapter people and you will understand the "all things". It's obviously people who remain steadfast.

Forced worship does NOT glorify God. ALL will worship freely. Also only humans. Demons do not have knees. And no one can confess Jesus as Lord without the Holy Spirit.
God never created demons. So why think otherwise
When Everyone is Willing to Do Gods Will..instead of their own..we will be Saved! I do not see that coming soon!
???
All will be made righteous, just as Romans 5 says "the many" (the same "many" in Adam) will be made righteous.
This is how it happens:
Do you see it? God's grace and God's judgments do the SAME thing - they teach righteousness and thus all will be made righteous!
I've heard from rabbis that hell is temporary!?
I have alot of respect for the people of the book and i'm all for a temporary hell and that all will be saved.
But I'm more for the truth.
History is his story it all begins with him meaning the Creator and Jesus and ends with him it is his story . So pray & repent for your soul be saved . Please everyone wake up! Please cry out ABBA FATHER AND JESUS!
i thought "under the earth" means dead people (under the ground)
plz correct me if wrong.. what does the greek say ?
Under the Earth means the dead. Hell means the grave. Not a place where people are burning in an everlasting torture chamber. 🙄
Things in Heaven - Angels
Things ON Earth - those who are alive at Christ's return.
Things UNDER the Earth - those who are dead. There will be two resurrections. Don't forget that.
+Mon Sch.. I agree with you.
Maybe all things in this dimention?
That's in 1 Corinthians."
Re-read 1 Cor 15:22
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
Notice what it says: "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."
The qualifier is IN CHRIST
All men are not IN CHRIST...so all men will not be made alive...as in Spiritually alive.
Who puts men IN CHRIST ?
God does
This applies to the elect...those chosen of God (1 Cor 1:26-29)...it does not apply to all men because He doesn't choose all men.
Context matters
But by His doing you are IN CHRIST (1 Cor 1:30).

Furthermore, the very translation for
Gospel is GOOD NEWS! Ask yourself how this ties in with what you are teaching.
Its simple:
"If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
"No one can say Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Spirit"
"Every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord"
Hello pastor.... I have a doubt in phrase "to reconcile all things in heaven or earth" ...earth is sinful so it is important for god to reconcile earth to him but why "heaven" and why god wants heavenly livings to be reconciled to him?? It is already with god....!!
Because some heavenly beings are also in rebellion with God. Remember the adversary and his demons are heavenly beings. But they will be reconciled with Him because God loves alll of His creations. He hates our acts but loves us as a being.
So you mean "the things in heaven" in Col1:20 also refers to humans? which could not be concluded from your analysis.
Are all things in heaven or on the earth? What about hell? This question still remains after watching this video...
In what way do you feel this is unaddressed by the closing remarks of the video?
Tangy I just don’t think that is a correct interpretation. If it was, then it would be clear in Colossians that it meant the new earth and new heaven. I have to think a bit more on this...
Both god made both!
It should be mentioned that it’s talking about Jews that thought they were saved but are not. When it says the sons of God means the Jews.
He was close but missed the mark.
universalism is false, repent.
@@ricoparadiso I can't. I've done my research.
I have a great question, I am a young adult and living currently with my mom. I wanna know if it's obligatory to go to the same church as your mother ? And is it bad if you don't ?
As long as you respect your mother and know Jesus, go wherever God calls you.

From the same as G104; properly an age; by extension perpetuity (also past); by implication the world; specifically (Jewish) a Messianic period (present or future): - age, course, eternal, (for) ever (- more), [ n-] ever, (beginning of the, while the) world (began, without end).
Revelation 14:11 KJV
(11) And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up **for ever and ever** : and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
1 Corinthians 15:25-28 KJV
(25) For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
Amen.
@@rg442 So based on this, do you believe they changed text from ages to eternity to deceive? What's the motivation?
@@Domtronic Deception, ignorance, pressure... does it really matter? It's easily provable that it was done. Motivation is irrelevant. It's like asking why do wolves attack sheep?

These wolves come in many forms... false doctrines, false prophets, deceptions (wolves in sheep clothing) etc. We are to "try the spirits..."
1 John 4:1 KJV
(1) Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
This is why I never understood the KJV-only movement. God's Word isn't a translation, it's a living, breathing Word and we need to seek out the deep things within it via the Holy Spirit of God.
1 Corinthians 2:10 KJV
(10) But God hath *REVEALED* them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV
(14) But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Spiritual discernment is necessary to unlock the Word of God, only God can provide that. There is truly nothing that we contribute to our own salvation. Not even the desire to seek out truth comes from us.
2 Thessalonians 2:10 KJV
(10) And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they *RECEIVED NOT* the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
At the end of the day, God is control of everything, even the minute details.

But we are washed clean by Jesus’ blood when we believe that he did die to save us
Try looking up some Billy Graham videos. They may be a bit old, but I am sure they will help you so much
Wrong John wrong
I don't see that being saved and going to heaven are the same thing. There are even some of israel that won't be saved under the "new covenant" it says not all of israel.. reconciling is apparently a form of accounting. No (I don't accept any other persons understanding even if they are correct) I believe you are working about this issue where yes the blood was spilled and it is on someone's hands. that the blood is the life and the life of Jesus Christ was taken and that the Spirit is like Him as in christ that is a spiritual adam, or man, a spirit in the form of a man and that something is like that about it.
Pastor John supports BLM , which puts him on my no go list ... GOOD bye
What makes you think this?
Oh shut ur hole
Amanda J Product of John Piper ? Naw , not even he would own this heathen ! 😕
Controlling LIES!! Making sure that the weak minded fools fall in line.
If you're going to make those sort of comments maybe an idea to provide some evidence or proof
Listen, I am here to warn you for I hope you don't believe Jesus' precious blood was shed for forgiveness of your sins for that is a lie from the devil and his evil servant paul put into the corrupted bibles. The only way to be saved is to repent and obey Jesus Holy Law whose foundation is" love one another and all the creatures of God, love is of God and God is love" yea, if you still devour your mouth with flesh, you are guilty and can not be righteous. Here is the uncorrupted Gospel of Jesus written by Apostle John. please do read it and truth shall set you free. Listen for The kingdom of Heaven is near.
