    Awe mate, there has been a lot for you to get your head round (and the same for Alex as well). At first when I heard about Alex and yourself going down different paths, I did feel a sense of loss, because I spent a lot of time during the lock-downs watching your videos and they did help my sanity. Now I'm thinking I've gained a channel in the form of Just Alex. Brilliant video as always, and I can't help thinking this but "Fish with Carl and Omi?". Our central heating went down for about 10 days but it was not all gloom and doom though as my wife, myself and our cat snuggled up under/on the duvet and watched a few fishing videos and a fair wack of midsomer murders lol. Right, I'm away to see what Alex is up to now... All the best guys.

    Brilliant Video can totally relate, I work as an IT Engineer at times gets so stressful just recently returning to fishing has helped me learn to cope with the stresses, recently had a session at Risby Lakes and the heavens opened sitting under the Brolley the sound of the rain on it just unwound a horrific week, keep them coming, please.

    I actually fished this 'secret lake' my entire childhood, and even caught the same fish I see you catching throughout your videos (even from 8 years ago) - Absolutely mad to see anyone else posting fishing videos on this little gem. I won't give away where it is here don't worry, I never even did to my closest fishing mates! Glad to see it's still being fished. Nice one!

    Love your videos! Many of them take me back to when I was a kid, fishing with my ol fishing buddies. Most of them are dead now, some alive but no longer fishing and moved away. I, on the other hand, am still fishing the same lakes, creeks and ponds I did back then. I hit the surf sometimes as well. I have taught hundreds if not thousands of people to fish in my day. Some as kids and they have seen me decades later and told their kids. shake hands with the man who taught your daddy to fish. It is a awesome feeling to have been a part of so many lives, just as YOU are doing with your videos. Carry on and your lady makes a very nice impact on your overall story. Best to you my friend. cheers from CA.

    This video (like you said) paints a picture of what carp fishing is all about for me. Secret lake, cosy under the bivvy with 1 of your favourite people, no one else around. AND your catching fishing...perfect session.

    I’ve just got into fishing and I’m gravitating towards carp fishing as like you said it’s relaxing n you don’t have to keep watching the rod. It’s an amazing hobby. My friends don’t understand fishing, they say all you do is sit there n wait, but it’s a different type of waiting. You’re enjoying the nature n the suspense is overwhelming.

So i am very grateful for that and hope u keep the amazing videos coming. I hope i can meet u,Om and your brother one day as u are such inspiring and amazing people and are my favriout youtoubers. Man, you nailed it with that introspective on bottom fishing for carp. I had this EXACT same thought today, finally getting around to float fishing with mealworms and nightcrawlers for the first time. I'm so used to highly active forms of fishing - fly fishing especially, or using lures that require constant retrieval speeds or actions like jigging or jerking - that initially I was bored to tears standing there staring at a little float, willing it to bob even once. Didn't help that the bite had switched off about an hour before I got on the water. But after awhile, I acclimated to the surroundings and started really clearing my head and just relaxing. Well done, Carl!

    • @fishwithcarl
      @fishwithcarl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers! Yeah totally :) it can feel uncomfortable at first. But after a while of sticking with it, the mind does finally settle and clear, and the body relax. Having that focus on something else, while also doing nothing but look out at the world can invite that calm to come in once the initial agitation of lack of stimulation, and/or any intrusive thoughts/ worries have passed haha!

    Carl your absolutely spot on with Carp fishing. Iv gone through quiet a few blanks and it’s far different from fishing a normal match fishery where you simply pull them out one after the other. Carp fishing is so therapeutic. Just being outside and finding the fish is part of it and getting them results particularly hard fishing during the winter is so rewarding!!!

They, sadly, area not fishermen, they are both music producers but like you and Alex, after a long time working together they have chosen to go in different directions within their chosen careers. They love and respect eachothers life choices, of which I am also very proud. They're now heading in different directions but, that's ok, really. We are all as close as ever. Things have changed a bit but, in essence, it's still the same. Very old and wild looking carp you have there Carl. Those not clued up about wild carp probably would say (Yes but they're small) they really are beautiful though and fish to be proud of. They are pretty much the same as the original carp brought to Britain from the Danube Delta hundreds of years ago and what our carp of today were bred from. They fight like bone fish and are great fun on an avon style rod. Well done Omi on landing that one on her own. I've seen plenty of anglers mess up playing them in to the net. Keep the videos coming, they really are enjoyable and now we have two different types of video to watch with Alex's also. Don't get too stressed out making them. Life is for living and enjoying!!

    As an adhd sufferer I find that it's only when I'm in nature or indulging my other passion, motorsports, that I genuinely can gather my thoughts and concentrate on things...... 2 very different extremes but those are my "happy places" 🤷‍♂️ aslo it may be handy but my dad always taught me as a kid that a restless fish will calm right down if you pop the tip of your thumb in their mouth, obviously ensure clean hands and it's not something I'd recommend as everytime practice but it definitely works

    2 excellent points made in this video, Carp fishing being the most relaxing way of fishing and expectation... when i talk about it to my non fishing friends and they say its boring and what have you, i remind them about escapism, being a family man (house full of women in my case) its nice to to find somewhere quiet to relax away from life in general, carp fishing is a by product of relaxation, an extra bonus if you catch something (expectation) when the first thing was to simply get away from it all... then they get it

      Yes, well put. So important to have time for the mind. After a session returning to life reset and refreshed. Means we can show up better for ourselves and for the ones we love. Such a lucky pursuit to have. All sorts of hobbies do the same thing for many. Yes exactly, catching can a bonus.

    Honestly it was admirable you guys managed to work in such close proximity for the time you did, and now there's no pressure to make content together you might find in the future your channel paths cross into easy collabs, so it could come full circle.
    Just try and enjoy the process man rather than only feeling good from the result 👍

    As for lowering your expectations, as you mentioned: I was happy to even catch a bream on my session two days ago, since the water is still freezing cold over here in the Netherlands :) It fought unusually hard too. I first thought it was a small tench or a tiny carp, hah! One of my resolutions for this coming year is to go from constantly hoping for a carp or a nice tench to lowering my expectations and being happy with any fish I manage to catch. Another great vid, keep up the good work :)

      Cheers Emiel! Can I sneak in the question?
      I am planning to go on my first ever freshwater fishing trip here in Netherlands, still deciding where to go and what to do.
      But I was thinking maybe guided kayak fishing trip, should I have my hopes up to catch any predatory fish this time of year?
      Thanks if You happen to answer this

    • @Emielio1
      @Emielio1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jd2379 Since I had a pike chase my lead yesterday, I bet you will do fine :) Predatory fish are generally pretty active during this time of year. In my experience though, with the water temperatures still being pretty low, you have a better chance using deadbaits, although they surely won't ignore a lure if you drop it on their heads :)

    Great video, just shows that they are still about even in the depths of Winter. Had my best ever season for Carp this time round (2021/22) and picked up quite a few tips from your channel that have helped - Although, crazily, the 3 times I have beaten my PB (Including my first 20) have all been float fishing on the inside ledge with caster and tares targeting Roach whilst the smaller piggies have hit my margin carp set up!
