      I kind of think that story may have passed. Instead, it may be like the theory I've seen a few times, where we go through an introductory level on our way to find Ganondorf, then we have both Skyloft and an underground (Metroid-style?) labyrinth as we climb our way to the castle proper.

  • @huttonlyn7701
    @huttonlyn7701 3 ปีที่แล้ว +426

    I’m really holding onto the theory that the hand is heavily related to the hero of 10,000 years ago. I have no idea how, but this game, with the trailer music being the first botw’s trailer music in reverse, the huge skyward sword vibes, it all feels very lore heavy and I’m hype as hell

      It's nails are similar to Ganondorf's tho as can be seen in the first trailer.

      @NORWAYORNOWAY 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Well -- if we recall the story Impa told of 10,000 years ago, the visuals showed a Link-like character with a glowing green right hand -- so yes.

    • @FadeRadio1
      @FadeRadio1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      Straight up, I think we ARE the hero from 10,000 years ago.
      In this trailer, Link looks effectively IDENTICAL to the link portrayed in the mural of the battle 10,000 years ago. On top of that, the trailer includes a lot of reversed sound clips, and a reversed shot of a water droplet falling on the ground. It's clear that the 'reversal of time' will be a key theme in this game in some form or another. The Zelda series is also not shy about the concept of time travel. Hell, the series is in no small part BUILT on the idea of timey-wimey shenanighans.
      How does one add depth to a game world we've already thoroughly explored? Well, you could add underground areas (like we've seen), areas floating in the sky (awesome), and... perhaps a some point in the game.... we might see what Hyrule looked like 10,000 years ago. Think about it. It'd be a great way to re-use land assets, but still have a whole new unique look on the lands.
      I've floated this idea a bit before, but now I'm much more confident it's not just a baseless idea. Hylia is, after all, a goddess of Time. I've always felt the battle from 10,000 years ago was too fleshed out for it not to be an event that would become more relevant at some point.

    • @jamessweeney5490

      Theory: The Link in the sky/floating island section is actually the hero from 10,000 years ago, possibly older(pre or post Skyward sword) and the owner of the green glowing hand. Note the way he is dressed, it's almost ancient(similar to ancient Greek/Roman dress) the hair is different as well.
      I think that after Link loses his hand(first few seconds of the new trailer) he gets the green glowing one(somehow) and the sky sections are flashbacks that give us the story on how things went down/ how that hand and Ganondorf ended up down there. And maybe a playable way for Link to upgrade his arm(new Sheikah slate)

    There's a really good theory video about the shrine of resurrection being a stasis chamber to keep someone alive and not as a healing room (i don't remember who made it) after seeing this trailer I'm starting to believe that the malice ripped link's hand off and the green hand fused with link to save him.
    Now back to why I mentioned the shrine of resurrection, maybe the sheikah made that shrine to keep the hero from 10,000 years ago alive so he could defeat the calamity again, but since the shrine is empty when link used it that means something happened to the ancient hero.
    I believe that the ancient hero sacrificed himself to a seal to keep Ganondorf sealed under Hyrule castle and became the green hand (maybe at one point it was the whole hero but as the seal weakened he started to disappear)
    Evidence to support this is that in the mural the ancient hero had a greenish yellow hand and is literally depicted to seal Ganondorf.
    The reason the hand saved link is because the ancient hero recognized that it's his reencarnation and saved link knowing that he'd be able to defeat Ganondorf.
    Past reencarnations have been seen to coexist with the present hero like what happened with the hero of shade in twilight princess.
    I believe that the ancient hero is part of the zonai tribe and was a magic user and that's why link has powers now.
    While looking at the Barbarian set which is believed to be the armor the ancient hero wore has it's right hand completely covered with bone and gloves unlike the left hand that only has a sleeve and no glove.

    • @JordenBarry

    Couple things I noticed that I haven't seen many people mention:
    1) New symbol on Link's shield while in the sky is similar to a sheikah eye, however the eye is looking upward. Up to the sky?
    2) The Zelda's Lullaby stab at the end uses the same instrumentation as the music for the dragons.
    3) When Link is in the sky, we can see one area with those big mushroom-tree things. Can't for the life of me remember what it's called. Anyway, we can see that same exact area later in the final shot of Hyrule Castle, but there are no islands to be seen. This suggests one of two things. One, the islands aren't visible because they're above the cloud barrier. Or, two, the islands literally aren't there, and Link has some kind of new time reversal power that allows him to travel back in time to when the islands existed, as evidenced by the animation of the water drop falling in reverse.
    4) Link's clothing while in the sky is quite similar to the outfits of the Skyloftians, as well as Ganondorf's robes.
    -5) While Link no longer has the Master Sword, I notice that many of the swords he uses have scabbards. If I remember correctly (and I may be wildly incorrect on this point), only the Master Sword had a scabbard in BotW. Is this simply a graphical improvement? Or, does it imply that these weapons are more permanently equipped, and so weapon durability is going away?-

    • @BellaLovesSSO
      @BellaLovesSSO 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the reason that you can not see the floating islands is because hyrule castle floating is likely going to be one of the first events in the sequel, and the reason you cannot see the islands is because of the cloud barrier, which was made by Hylia to separate the sky from the ground. The reason that you can only see it later in the game will likely be because Hylia’s power is starting to weaken.

Also you never see the master sword or any Sheikah tech (there's a spot where the camera pans to the Talus and you can see the Dueling Peaks, but the tower isn't there). I believe that the Wired ancient robot with Sheika symbols on him is not an enemy but actually, a house/hub keeper robot. I believe this because if you look at the stomach there is a circle with a symbol of a broom in the meddle. The symbol is most likely very connected with himself. Usually in video games the broom is usually connected with cleaning or housekeeping, usually someone who you can come to to change things in your home or help equip new gear. along with this he looks a little bit friendly with his big ears. I am guessing one of the islands you can find will be a place where you are able to make abase you can teleport to and from. then this robot once you activate it will help you and serve as an NPC that you can talk to as a way for customizing you bases or storing weapons. along with this we could find more island with different robots with different help full traits. (ex. Blacksmith. Armorer enchanter. extra side quest giver, inn manager ex.) Ether this or you right arm can turn into a broom and that shows that you need to brush dirt at it to defeat it... or it shows you need to fix it for it to start working and they can be used as way points.

This isn't concrete evidence, but if the islands were to rise up you would think we would see malice around the floating islands (at 0:48) or evidence that the areas that become floating islands are rising (like malice or dust similar to around the castle in the first trailer.).

    Here's a little theory that you can pry from my cold dead hands:
    So, the Sheikah created the ancient tech right? Well how the hell did they power that stuff? Throughout all the games the Sheikah have pretty much been ninjas that have been known to use shadow magic and that would be far too unstable/probably useless when it comes to powering giant robots. So here's my theory: The Sheikah stole the Zonai magic (the green glowy stuff that let Link phase through a wall) to power their technology. Now I know it sounds dull but here's how I think it played out:
    The Sheikah heard of these (possibly) barbarian people that used glowy green magic and had developed it enough to power machinery (evidence: the funky robot in the trailer). Knowing that they needed a power source for their own technology, the Sheikah decided to steal this glowy magic. This also explains why the Zonai disappeared. They were being hunted down by the Sheikah and decided to (probably) escape to the skies where they wouldn't be followed. The Zonai did this by using their magic to reverse time and phase through the floating islands above or whatever it was Link did. They did manage to save some of their magic but the Sheikah got their hands on enough to power the guardians, divine beasts and their other stuff. However, the green glowy magic was probably far too unstable to be used as a power source for their robots. If they used it to give the guardians the ability to reverse time (or some other weird Zonai ability) it could hugely backfire on them. So, Sheikah scientists found ways to modify the raw Zonai magic and contain it enough that it was the perfect source of power for their robots. This explains why the ancient tech is a different colour to Zonai magic (it's blue when active and orange when inactive rather than being the green of the raw Zonai magic) because it has been modified to suit the needs of the Sheikah. This could also explain a theory that I've seen where Link's new Zonai hand 'absorbed' the Sheikah Slate, hence why it's not with Link or Zelda in either of the trailers. Why would a Zonai hand absorb the power of Sheikah tech? Because it's powered by the same stuff the hand is made from *mic drop*.
    Anyway I had this idea and ran with it. I doubt it's the case but it's still cool to think that the guardians and divine beasts are powered by the same stuff that allows Link to phase through walls and reverse time like in the trailer. Sorry this came out so long I just needed to get it down before I forgot :D

    The gimmick this time for BotW2 seems to be time manipulation. We see this with Link seeming to freeze the spiked boulders and then send it in reverse as the screen went grey. We've also had the continuous use of backwards music in these trailers which further confirms this as a central feature.
    This also explains what happened to Ganondorf. The Zonai trapped him in an eternal near death state by accelerating his aging using the vambrace. This means he has the Triforce of Power still as it is known to be how he heals any injury and has near immortality. What you have here is Ganondorf just barely managing to counteract the rapid decay of his body.
    As is evident in the trailer, this Zonai hero let go of Ganondorf to save Link and Zelda when the floor collapsed. A mistake that gave Ganondorf an opportunity to escape.

    The holes in his chest are from the hand holding him down. If you look at the first teaser trailer, the close up shot of the hand shows that it has very long nails. The holes are probably from the nails of the green hand digging into Ganondorf's flesh. The markings on his body are probably residual scarring due to the green arm merging with his body, not zonai war paint. They look like they are arranged in a more of a swirl pattern, like the green swirling energy from the first trailer.

    I noticed two things, or technically I didn't notice two things.
    A: The Mastersword isn't in this trailer, at all. It is never seen. However in the original teaser that starts off all of these events, Link has it.
    Where did it go? How did Link lose it? Will we get it back?
    B: The Sheika Slate is missing as well. I wonder if Link and Zelda retired it or if it fell down with Zelda.
    On another note, I'm wondering how the developers will have us start at lower hearts if it's post game. Maybe it has something to do with the hand and the scene where Link is lying down next to it.

    • @peterchu5609
      @peterchu5609 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I suspect that the loss of hearts and the Master Sword could have the same solution because Malice is covering Link's arm, that could be draining his life force, it's also the arm that he holds the Master Sword in, we do see part of the hilt so potentially it could be corrupted serving as Ganondorf's blade. As for the Sheikah Slate it's probably with Zelda or it's held for research purposes elsewhere.

    • @avon_c6199
      @avon_c6199 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A: Theory could be, that when the Malice latches out to Link (possibly to infect him as a new vessel) the "magic hand" gets a hold of Link and tries to suppress the spreading Malice within him...but the Master Sword repells evil and as Link is infected with Malice despite the hand holding the "infection" at bay, the Master Sword defies Links attempts to use it, so he may have to ditch the sword or put it to rest somewhere.
      Maybe the initial contact with the hand is the most basic "fitting" Link gets for his new arm, but later down the line, similar to when we acquire runes for the Sheikah Slate in BotW Link can upgrade his newly acquired "multitool arm" through laying down on a pedestal and being "charged with magic".

    • @avon_c6199
      @avon_c6199 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Peterchu I have difficulty trying to sort my thoughts xD cause there are A LOT of ideas and different (contradicting) theories happening right now.
      Ok so... based on your idea of Ganon taking the sword.
      What if, as many comments on other videos have already theorized, we're going full circle here with a timeloop that leads back into Skyward Sword.
      But as we have already seen with BotW, the Master Sword can be damaged so this incarnation of the sword is not as allpowerful and totally impervious to damage, so what if Ganon actually gets a hold of the Sword with Malice so Link has to resort to other means of combat, the spirit in the sword (Fi, which we briefly heared in a BotW memory with a faint sfx once) slowly transforms into what later becomes Girahim, at the end of the game some cataclysmic event is close to obliterating the land and Hylia or maybe Zelda as her incarnation of the goddess steps in (whether she is actually dead with her fall in the trailer I don't think so, that would be super dark) and she ascends the remains of civilisation to the heavens to escape the Calamities wrath (which came from underground just as the tale of Demise was said to have risen in SS)
      Problem is, now that the Calamity (or Demise?) has got a hold of the (infected/transformed) MasterSword, she has to forge a whole new sword which later, as we're coming full circle with the newly ascended islands, will become the goddess sword and the new MasterSword which set of the events of Skyward Sword.
      Also notice how in BotW we never hear anyone mention the Triforce at all, except I think some minor depictions of it here and there?
      Sorry, its all a lot to comprehend and much of it surely contradicts given events from BotW etc.
      Maybe the final game wont be near as complicated as we're trying to make it out to be. xD *lol*
      I myself am just trying to vent some of the (crazy) ideas that sprung forth since yesterday. ^_^

    Just wanna say, those wounds on Ganondorf’s lower chest, upper stomach is probably where the second hand that dug into Gandondorf was, not sword wounds. It’s not the right shape. Like, we pretty much agree that there was a whole person that sealed Ganondorf away, and it looks like by doing so they had dug their fingers in. So it looks like both hands had gone into our favorite villain, since the wounds are circular and at least three. (This makes me wonder if it’s harder to see all of the holes or the second hand didn’t have all five fingers.) You can even see those wounds in the first trailer, but it’s a tad hard to see. So far I don’t think anyone else had pointed it out in videos and I guess your comment about it being sword wound kicked me into gear about commenting lol. Good videos btw!

Also the eye at 0:31 of the video isn't quite sheikah with more squared off ends which match the "eyes" hanging from the new creature in the cloud area (its near the same type of temple as the ones when Link travels through from the bottom). I'm only new to the Zelda franchise with BOTW but is it known that the sheikah and Zonai existed at the same time or is possible that the zonai existed then the sheikah evolved from them thats why these eyes are similar but not exactly the same. the big green robot thing seriously reminds me of skyward sword. both with the ancient lanayru robots and their architecture, and with the lizalfos (& their statues) in that game. just the bright vibrant colors and art style of that shot scream skyward sword to me

    That big robot enemy gives me big skyward sword time shift stone ancient robot vibes.. maybe it’s not an enemy and something that was unearthed when all the islands went into the sky

    The green thing looks like some kind of one eye chameleon robot. The stone style and technology of it might indicate Zion. Reminds me of the horse god, maybe it’s friendly and gives you enhancements?

    The Stone "Robot" thing @4:01 looks like it has hands floating at the bottom of the image, it reminds me of Bongo Bongo, from the Shadow Temple in OoT, also don't you fight a similar boss in The Wind Waker before collecting the 8 shards of the Triforce in that game? This trailer has me so excited thinking of all the possibilities!

    Anyone else notice how similar Link's new clothes are to the Ganondorf mummy's?

    Anyone notice that the bokoblins in the trailer have long moblin-like horns and moblins have old boko horns? It’s very interesting

    4:50 I think it's really cool that the ore deposit on the talus is guarded by Bokoblin camp walls.

    You forgot at the very beginning of the trailer the malice tendrils going up links arm..that might be where the markings come from, or why he needs the new green hand/arm

    The hand is corrupted by malice then to keep it from spreading the jewelry looking stuff looks to be added. You can see his skin looks to be discolored from the corruption

    Link cant get a break. He already killed Gannon once and a few weeks later he learns he has do do it again. That's rough buddy.

    After link’s hand is caught in malice, he has to chop it off, and the sealing hand replaced hit, or it merged with link in an attempt to dispel the malice and save him

    4:00 That looks like some kind of mechanical reptile if you look at it from a certain perspective. The eyes on the side of the head, the white under the mouth...

    The green cloth link is featured with reminds me of the champions sashes, but obviously in his signature color. He also doesn’t have the masters word in any of these scenes (arm & sword fuse? Fi true powers?) , & they neglect to show his face as well. The buildings near him after they show him warp through the stone also have writing on them. The new look seems eerily similar to the tapestry of the hero prior too.
