I love when Duck push the guy off the piano and his brother is right behind him and has his back like "do something", lol.
Never noticed that and this is my favorite movie. I know it word for word lol
That Sistha in the front row shoulda got an OSCAR !!!!😂🔥💥😂🔥💥😄
I can never get tired of this movie. Like ever!
The five heartbeats and the temptations is my favorite movie when I am watching either movies I am member lol
I don't know how Robert Towns came up with this Scene let alone the whole entire movie. Pure Genius... I swear I can play ever person in this part
He wanted it to be more of a comedy but after interviewing The Dells he saw how rough it was for them. The Dells sing this song also.
Most of my life i thought this was a real group.... Until i realized they was just performing the same songs.... Didn't find out till i was 19.... Im 33
When his momma got up with that look of pure JOY ON HER FACE GETS ME EVERYTIME ! THROWS HER ARMS OPEN AH I'M CRYING RIGHT NOW . LET KNOW YOU UNDERSTAND !!
Wassup troy, I see you bringing in the new year with some good taste
Classic! One of the greatest scenes in movie history! I can watch this a thousand times in a row, and not get tired of it.
Poetic Nation that’s a fact bro especially when choir boy comes out and sits that note and flashes reaction in the audience
Skyler Williams
I hear you - So true. This whole scene seems/feels like part of documentary (It hits a note in me every time)
I came here to say the exact same thing lol. It really is one of the most moving moments in cinema. It’s just as impactful now as it was in the theater 25-26 years ago.
Can't nobody sang like Eddie Kane Jr, that's a fact.
But Choir Boy came off the top rope lol
That is very true no lies detected! But I think this time choir boy for the 🏆
@@darnellnelson4253 nope. Billy Valentine from the Valentine Brothers did the leads on the movie version. Marvin Junior from the Dells performed the soundtrack version
One of the greatest movies ever made!
Yes, glad to have met Robert Townsend on the set of making Little Richard. So nice and real.
Omg....ole girl in the front row got pregnant and delivered a whole baby off that one Song!!....Sang Eddie!
Anytime this movie come on, I gotta watch it. No matter how many times that I've seen it
Robert Townsend need his flowers for this movie really had me thinking this was group
I thought it was based on The Dells or did they sang the songs for the movie?
@@user-fz4vj6qq4s The Dells sang some of the songs, and they helped inspire parts of the movie, but it's not based on them. It was inspired by other groups of that era as well.
This is based on a real group just like the temptation,, go back in time and open the arkive back in the day that's all sweetie 🥰
Any Black person born before 1990 knows all of the words for The Five Heartbeats and Friday.
Y'all knew it was about to go down when Eddie loosened that tie lol
Flash looking at Eddie like Vegeta looking at Super Saiyan Goku for the first time.
Vegeta was proud af and actually congratulated goku with a smile when he first saw ssj goku fighting frieza. There was no hate or jealousy at all
The Dells definitely get the recognition that they truly deserved
Yeah we don’t acknowledge how cold they were. Took this movie to the next level
This film will never lose its luster.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE PARTS OF THIS MOVIE!! SHE TALKED ALL THAT ISH AND GOT WETTER THAN THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER WHEN HE STARTED SINGING!! LOOK AT HER.....PASSED OUT!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
@A. Teresa Robinson you funny as hell for that got wetter than the Mississippi river, lmaooo 😂😂😂
Give the light man a big raise.. He was dead ass on time with the spotlight for Choir Boy💪🏿💪🏿😂😂😂😂😂
Lawd she tried to fight it 😂😂😂 …..but when Eddie hit that note you can feel it!! One of the best scenes ever…had me in tears of joy & im not afraid to admit it
That mom jumped up with her arms stretched out like she was getting saved! 🤣🤣🤣
But the father had a look that says, he will not change his wicked ways. He eventually did, but not before killing and being doped up. Which is more important?
This part always gives me goosebumps
This will be a nice movie to put back in the movies again for it anniversary
Man I just love how when Duck push the guy off piano, his brother JT and Dressa is right behind him and has his back like “We just tryna sing but if you wanna do it we can do it” .
The Dells were a singing group that was a powerful presence in the music industry back in those days when music was real, about true love, family, friends, community and peace. A fight was a fist fight and not a shooting. Man those days no longer exist.
EDDIE TOOK THAT NOTE TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL
This movie doesn’t get the credit it deserves! This will forever be a classic can watch it over and over as if it’s my first time watching it!… Robert Townsend did a great job
It was nice to see the smile on his father's face. Priceless
Some people never have to do another thing in life and they will still always be legends. Robert Townsend is one of those people. 💯
I love a cappella harmony!💖✨ Real singers back then’ This is a priceless scene in a family favorite!!!💙💙💙💙💙
Shout out to the real voice behind Eddie Kane, the one and only Marvin Junior!!!!!
Movie voice of Eddie King is Billy Valentine….Soundtrack song is Marvin from the Dells🫡
Eddie King’s singing voice was performed by William “Billy” Valentine.
Surely this happened a lot of times back in the days. Would have loved to be there 🔥🙌🏽
One of the best scenes in this movie 💯👌🏽
Damn I get chills when I hear this part maybe it's just me
Is there heart ? Is there heart in the house tonight???.... I'm mexican a grew up off this movie! That's more crazy
!Que' loco! Soy Negra y hablo Espanol. Tambien, me encanta la pelicula 'La Bamba'.
No worries I’m black and I grew up on Selena ctfu funny how the world works
Church boy definitely delivered towards the end yessir 👏🏾👏🏾😅
Thank you Mighty Dells for the song.
still get chills when Eddie starts singing man! This and I feel like going on, two of my favorite song scenes
Sitting at home and this scene popped in my head and had to look it up... damn chills after all these years
THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST SCENES IN THE MOVIE!!!
I love when his mother stand up, " like God, Thank you for my boy".
I GET CHILLS EVERY TIME THAT EDDIE KANE GRABS THAT MIC & SING. SUCH RAW, UNDENIABLE PASSION
Red smilin an cheesin gets me every time! 😂😂😂😂😂 classic shit
JT and Dresser coming to Duck's aid just in case someone had something to say about him taking over the piano. Love.
I'm mad I didn't know that was Harold Nicholas of the Nicholas Brothers, one of the greatest dance dous to ever do it. This scene, this movie. Tops!
I'm a soprano and a Pastors Daughter 🙌🏾 Sleep in Paradise ♥️Rev Lee W. Lavernge , so my heart will forever cheer for choir boy when he comes out and hit that high note 💫
Still one of the best black movie songs ever
Still getting chills and cheap thrills from this hit in 2022🎶🎶🎶😍😍😍😎
Lawd!!!! Can't nobody sang like Eddie Cane Jr!!!!
@@chocolatepower11 Please check the credits- the character's last name is listed as King, he just pronounced it with a country accent. In fact, there's a video I saw where either the actor or Robert Townsend confirmed is King.
From Wikipedia:
Donald "Duck" Matthews, Anthony "Choirboy" Stone, J.T. Matthews, Terrence "Dresser" Williams, and Eddie King, Jr. perform
@Just Debi I saws that I'm saying how he pronounced it in the Daaaannnnnnngggg
This movie is timeless, a true masterpiece.
This is a timeless movie
Wonderful 👏
Choir boy with the scream 🙌🏽❤️
CLASSIC!!!!
When he hit that first long note, he made his MAMA feel it, and with PRIDE she forgot where she was and who was around her and jumped to her feet saying THAT'S MY BABY!!!! Tears drop from my eyes because I know that there is no greater feeling than making your Ma/Dad that proud of you!❤
I take this personally because both of my parents are gone... I miss and love them so much and if I could go back in time to the points in my life where I made them feel this way, I would be so happy!
He hit that first note drawing courage and strength from his mother and she immediately stood up and sent that MOTHER'S LOVE straight to her son!
One of the most underrated movies of allll time!
This is my favorite movie I can never get tired of it. The talent that was in this movie is priceless.
Yep. I still cry at the end when we see Eddie and then see Baby Doll still by his side!! 😭
This gotta be the greatest acapella singing of all time! Ive this a thousand times...tho its a fictional movie, can you even fathom the powerful harmonizing sounds of the group accompanied by the energy of the crowd!?! This whole scene is Oscar worthy hands down!
Eddie sang the soul out of ole girl she ain't never been the same since 🤣
This movie is my go to movie when I have nothing else to watch I can never get tired of watching this movie over and over I love it.
Nas flipped this as a sample so lovely on the song LEGIT. Wow!
“I still gots da pipes🗣🎶” Eddie was the TRUTH!!!
@0:27 This !!!!!!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽👏🏼😩 I get chills every time I hear this part one of my favorite childhood movies and I will watch it over and over 💖💖💖💖💖
Yessssss! I can remember me and my sisters climbing in my momma bed and watching this and The Temptations and The Color Purple every weekend ❤❤❤
One of the greatest scenes in movie history. Don’t care what nobody say. Shout out to Nas and Hit Boy for bringing me back here. KD3 Legit 🔥
"SANG THE SONG BOY!'
This is my second favorite scene in the movie. Did Eddie make Bird's cousin cream herself. The way she was twisting in the seat 😂
I believe he did lol. I always thought that every time I watch this scene lol
Nah, Bird's cousin was the host. That was Bird's woman that was splash waterfalls. 😂
One of my favorite scenes from the five heartbeats…. BAD AAAASSSS!!!!…. Great movie
Can't nobody nobody sing like Eddie Kane
The way Eddie hit that high note he got everyone attention they knew from that point they were nothing to play with
Sing The Song Boy! That get me every time lol 😂 love this movie
When choir boy came out there with the high note it was over!
"Aw,he ain't nobody!" - random audience member. I swear to God,I don't know why that part ALWAYS cracks me up. But,I still got this movie on VHS,had the soundtrack on tape, and oh my God - the memories of watching it on TV for the first time ❤🖤🤎🖤❤
Best Black Movie ever made IMO,it showed black based teamwork, trials & struggles with systemic racism which we deal with today, the resiliency of (certain)black people back then & today.
One of the best senes in movie history under Appreciated
I've must have watched this movie 30 times when I was a teen.
A classic that cannot be duplicated! One of my all time favorite movies!
Eddie Kane Sang His Heart ❤ Out
I love the way JT stepped to those two guards like, " You bet NOT touch my brotha." HELL YEAH.
WOW!
Timeless classic!
Y'all want ole Eddie Kane to sang 😭😭😭
Thw way this guy flew off the piano seat 😂😂😂
My favorite song/group. Are we not going to recognize that fact Dresser singing bare tone was on point…A heart is a house..
THIS MOVIE IS A MASTERPIECE! SO MANY HIDDEN GEMS JUST IN THIS CLIP.
1. When Eddie jumps down with the look of anger in his eyes.
2. How he keeps looking and shawty in the red like (bi@ch, u dun f'd up now)
3. After Eddie kisses her, dude behind her stops awkwardly clapping and is in awe like: WTF?
4. Flash having a moment realization.
5. Big Red's eyes lighting up with money signs like Mr. Krabs
6. Some random dude in the back (around the -1.00 mark) yelling out something like "That Bass is killing it"
Most powerful scene in the movie in my opinion 🔥🔥🔥🔥straight classic this never gets old my all time fav movie as well
One of the best movies ever made!
Me and my bro’s watched this movie just about everyday, sometimes twice a day when we were kids. Great movie, great story.
Five ❤ beats, yall are making my ❤ beat fast in 2021!!
What I find so amazing is, I saw this in the theater 4 times- each time, theater was empty except maybe 1-4 other people, plus the people that I'd bought with me (putting them on), so the fact that's its now deemed a culture classic makes me ecstatic, because back then with the very low theater firm out, I was afraid many would miss out on its excellence, which would've been a shame!
My experience as well when I first saw it. The theater was practically empty. Too bad the appreciation it has received now was not present back then. But....everything happens for a reason. Check out the Making of the Five Heartbeats documentary. It reveals so much regarding the obstacles Townsend faced in producing this classic.
@@nasadeen1972 I have... thankfully he didn't let them stop him from his goal! Hands down, one of the classics in the culture!
I think those are always the Best ways for Serendipity to happen. An out the box hit is great but them word of mouth movies? Those the ones that are always true classics.
Eddie Cain was the MAN!!!! CLASSIC!!! I live this movie. Donnie Simpson once brought Robert Thompson to the gym at Bethesda Naval hospital back in the late 80s. You talk about a class ACT!!!! ROBERT TOWNSEND!!!! 👍🏿
The one part of this movie that I can't sing note for note and word for word all day everyday loved this movie man. Can never get tired of this amazing classic.
Yessss! Eddie did that! Choir Boy! Lol, They all did that! CLASSIC! 😘😘😘
one of the best movies, ever!
Yes sing it. I got chills listening to this. Wow I got tears in my eyes listening to this.
One of my movies and songs of all time.
Can't nobody sang like Eddie Kang.🤣😂🤣😂
There’s only one David Ruffin lol
That's a #fact 😁😁😁😂😂🤣🤣
It's Eddie kane
@@larundascott4243 King
@@larundascott4243 LoL it really is King! Us southerners messed his name up by calling him Eddie Kane (Kang)
