I remember when the 8C out and for me, it was one of the most beautiful dropdead stunning cars that I had seen in modern times. All it needed was a manual, converting these cars will be perfect.
What a superb episode, the visuals, dialogue, intimacy of circumstances, the shared joy. Many thanks Luke. This is a new branch on the Cars with Luke tree. Congrats.
If I were a wealthy guy, this is exactly the way I'd want an Alfa 8C to be. So glad to see someone doing what I'd do, if I had the means. Very cool! Thank you.
Oh my goodness !! The sound of the exhaust and of the gear box it’s absolutely stunning!! Has put a pure smile on my face! Many thanks for the video Luke! You do a great job !
Highest level of car related videography on youtube Luke! Being old subscriber - A1 Quattro times - enjoyed this one and have to admit when I got new oled 4k tv few weeks ago first thing I had to do was re-watching most of your videos at least once. Seeing them on the big screen with decent speakers is pure joy for eyes and ears! Your content is getting better and better on the top level. That being said I wouldn't mind more 5 minute Fridays with no plan whatsoever 😃 Last but not least, due to recent Alfa content I had to visit local dealer and now I am in love with this brand - have to buy one soon!💚 All the best and waiting for more videos to come 😍
The intro, the guest, the architecture, the car, everything on that video is absolutely perfect!! And my gosh that sound is incredible, I fall in love immediately when he started her up! Thank you again for that moment!
As former designer from Centro Stile Alfa Romeo in Arese and from Ticino too, I had this particular 8c model on radar, but i didn't knew this had a manual conversion. Greetings
This is a truly special one. Will never forget Clarkson's review of the Disco Volante, and givne that those will never really see the light of day, the 8C to me is spiritually at least the same car. You've managed to capture that very same magic that Clarkson did all those years ago. What a piece of engineering, what a piece of cinematography. Grande.
10:56 was actually my very first thought when I saw this announced on insta by you. It's not uncommon to convert 599's, E46 M3 CSL's, Vanquishs and Gallardos which have been available as manuals but this car has never existed with a manual gearbox, the 4.7L neither had it in the Maserati nor in this one. Then again, the 8C's stock gearbox is a single clutch robotized manual gearbox (just like a 599, a gallardo or an E46 M3 etc) which means they probably could have kept many stock parts including most of the gearbox itself! However for the parts that have to be changed (Shifter, Pedal Box, Linkage, Wiring Harness, ECU tune etc.) they couldn't just grab them from the shelf or copy them from an existing manual version, I assume. I understand that this is quite a big deal and I assume the ECU bit was a nightmare 😀 All in all this is just an utterly amazing car and I bet the price for the conversion is justified, especially considering the low production volume. If I had the money, this car would be on the very top of my wish list. The open gated shifter and this engine sound is just something else. Great video!!
Hell, yeah, that's a guy who really knows what he's doing. Every e-throttle I've driven sucks compared to even some cheap, decades-old shitbox with a cable. These programmers whose underwear are covered in skid marks because they don't know how to wipe their asses think they can program it to be better than a predictable, linear cable and fail miserably-tip in throttle response of an old worn points ignition, front-loaded throttle plate opening leaving 1/2 the throttle travel worthless, lag response in some conditions when the ECU deigns to honor your request, etc.
The 8C has always been my modern dream car, but what a conversion, wow. I bet the Mito driver you briefly followed at 15:09 will remember this moment. I've once heard an 8C on the Arese factory track at full chat, and I'd definitely never ever change the exhaust. 🍀
Such a great video and legendary car, your friend has done an astonishing job with that mod👏 For the next videos, I would suggest one with the Alfa 4C Mole, that'd be epic for sure as well 👀
Fiat Group politics decreed the 8C had to be half-baked because it wasn’t allowed to compete with / eclipse any Ferrari. Ditto Maserati. But the MM finishes the job, although I’d prefer the OEM seats (if it ain’t broke…). Overall, bravo.
@@technom3598 maybe. You can tell from the white color and general spotlessness that this facility is very well kept and organized on a regular basis. Most tuner/mod garages look like parts bins with clutter everywhere lol.

The world has become so manual obsessed that I heard a reviewer comment disappointed that a DB12 does not have a manual. We'll have Rolls Royce manual conversions soon.
Hey Luke, in a distant 2016 I went to Zug. While walking at that main street by the lake, I saw a A1 Quattro parked. The main thing that came into my mind was: "maybe it belongs to that British guy from TH-cam...". While I was still looking at the details of that car, just like magic, you drove by in your A1 Quattro! 😄

11:00 The 8C is a shortened Maserati 4200 coupe which has a manual or cambio gearbox. Its why you service an 8C at a Maserati dealer.
