assault move in a game like that makes my eyes bleed:( We're talking about really high rate of fire here. Units carry LMG's, assault carabines, 30rds mags... I;d say that infantry charging enemy position is suicidal. Especially open field anyway. It;s not WW2 Flames Of War where such things could happen. There; are only few incidents in modern history where unit actually assaulted armed enemy like that and survived.
+Brightgrey Assault is still a very valid modern drill and is practiced by all miliatry in the world. It's not charging with bayonets, it's a coordinated advance with lots of covering fire, when ovewhelmed the enemy usually abandons their position before it gets to hand to hand. The way I would look at this assault demonstration is that after taking heavy causalties the russians overwhelmed their opponents with their firepower and they decided it was better to pull out, then the remaining russians advances to the positions now abandoned by their defenders. Search "US Marines Squad Assault Tactics" here on youtube, there is a video where they practice an assault in the middle of the desert.

Skipped over the AA attack phase....why do Guided AA have a fire power if the aircraft are just rolling for save???

Good Lord Flames of War sucks.
+Patrick Williams look up Flames of War bootcamp. It is much better and shows the main WW2 game.
