It's a costal country & one of their civilization's strongpoints was marinal transportation. Hell, one of their three main gods was Poseidon, the god of the seas. What I don't get is the time manipulation powers. I mean, I'm not well versed with Centaurs, but I don't see a connection between them & Chrónos.
