You are what i have been looking for, for ages. Someone who will just explain the bare bones of these wonderful melodies. I play piano and keyboards and can't wait to try it. Pachelbel's Canon in D is another one to do 😄
That was both touching and entertainingly fun! I love the piano- cant play but love catching onto the keys and tones that its magic creates within. Thank you for this tutorial, throughly enjoyed!
I just came across your TH-cam channel, let me for now watch your videos one by one, learn from them and if any supplemental help is needed I will let you know. Thanks.
Thanks very much for this GREAT piano lesson. So impressive, touching and yet seems easily attainable, however little knowledge i have in piano when it comes to rhythm. ❤ ❤ Incredibly useful ❤ ❤ ❤
Hi Rob. Somehow I ended up here after watching your video on hand coordination:-)-great video as always. I was very hopeful that when you mentioned that you can’t sing Let it Be in the key of C so you usually perform it in G that you might continue with your tutorial in that key; I find so many online tutorials stick rigidly to performing songs in the keys as recorded which invariably doesn’t suit my voice. Oftentimes you will also notice that the artists themselves (not sure about Mr McCartney) rarely perform the song in the key which it was recorded in as this was when they were maybe 20 years younger. I feel that many people struggle unnecessarily trying to sing in a pitch that doesn’t suit their voice and that most songs invariably sound better in a key that suits their range. I do feel however that there is an unrealistic expect from audiences to hear songs in the key in which it was recorded and this has been a very limiting factor for me as a performer over the years….or maybe it’s just my perception that audiences want to hear songs as close as possible to the key in which it was originally recorded? I’d be interested in getting your thoughts on this as well as from some of your subscribers….but in the meantime please do some tutorials of songs in keys that suit lower voices. Thanks again for a great tutorial with the usual interesting background information.
I agree! The first rule when trying to sing, as I now know, is to pitch it to suit your voice. Otherwise you might convince yourself very quickly that you can’t sing for toffee. By the way electronic keyboards let you play as in one key but pitched in the one that suits your voice. Once you’ve found the right key you could transpose it and learn it in your correct key for when you only have an acoustic piano. (Guitarists have done this for years using the capo.) Thanks Rob for the great video.
@ hi, thanks for replying. Yeah if only someone would make a capo for acoustic pianos :-) I accept what you say about using the transpose button on electronic pianos/keyboard but personally I find it easier to just learn the song in the right key from the start and use the appropriate fingering- I like the tactile feedback of going from chords of C major to maybe eflat for the next song. I have friends though who are quite happy with just knowing the chords of C/am and use the transpose key.
Hi Mr Fremulshmat 😊 Yes, choosing the right key for your voice really is make or break for feeling comfortable and giving a good performance! I have a full course on Let it Be on my UDEMY platform in the key of G. Just search 'UDEMY ROB BEE'. This full tuition for the song will be on my Rebel Piano programme in January too. We're open for students right now if you'd like to take a look. rebel-piano.com/ Yes, singers who try too hard to pitch in the original key end up sounding bad - and usually end up straining their voice! I nearly always drop the key a bit these days. Best. Rob
Eddie - enjoy your trip to Liverpool... and the Cavern is such a brilliant atmospheric place, loads of good bands play there. Yes, get on that keyboard 😊🎹
Rob. You're one great teacher... thank you for sharing. So glad I've happened on your channel! I love to sing... you are exactly right that the problem comes if you have to "stop and think" about changes... it's been frustrating. I live in Florida USA...so appreciate the UTube!!
