The second part of the MPD 26 video where I give you a closer look at each function buttons on the device. Hope you enjoy if so than please give it a thumbs up. Cheers.
great video man. I am a rapper/songwriter and aspiring producer. My girlfriend bought me this MPD26 today which I am excited about learning how to use. This video helped out with a few of the basics. Thanks alot
Thank you. I am still going to be updating more on the mpd's, rather more into the functions and using them to control other midi devices and controllers which I hope will help so many but thank you for your support, appreciate it.
yes 100% you can change not only the notes of the pads but the program of the pads and channels which is something I've been doing with the mpd connected via midi to the maschine.
Hello Slovenia :) I presume you have already crop, sliced some samples using your desired daw software. Once you have got the samples you like it's just a matter of assigning them to your mpd pads. Use the editor you get with the mpd and load your samples on each pad, remember to save your edits so you don't have to repeat. Edit the midi channels from c1/cc going up for each pads also for the correct pitch of the sounds. The mpd editor Vyzex is there to aid you with adding sample on the mpd pads.
I've heard of both plugins but not used them myself so I can't really say how well the MPD will work. The MPD should work well and was made to control these type of plugins because I've had no problem when using Native Instruments Battery 3 Drum Software or Drumagog Virtual Drum which are similar.
hi thanks for all these videos is there anyway you can layer notes from software to each pad? I have watched all your videos and read some of the manual and cant figure this out.
Thanks for the video Elias. I use Logic, and also sample a lot of vinyl. I'm considering this controller, but what does it hook up to within logic? Does it have it's own instrument, or do you have to use a Logic instrument? Cheers
That's great, I was thinking about to buy a second MPC1000 but this product will be perfect for us, now we can control two bank at the sametime. Thanks for the video, it helped me a lot. By the way I saw a 'Repeat Note' button, it works same like MPC, right?
is there any recommended customization for logic? in the context of using it as a midi controller rather than using it to control logic, per say loading samples into it with the exs24? is that a plausible function?
You can't get sound out of it, it's not like a mpc or synth, it's a midi controller that can only work connected to a computer daw to trigger and send midi notes of that software. The midi out and in's are only there for you to be able to control other midi hardware.
I Recently bought a brand new Akai MPD 26 and when I open it up it displays "UPGRADE No Firmware" and it seems to be stuck at that. How Do I resolve this issue? thanks
No I don't believe its possible, I could be wrong but I've been trying for ages and all I can really do is trigger sounds, you can't load any samples at all, every thing is in your software. You'll have to pretty much create your own custom templet.
By going into your daw settings and modify the controls. I have a vid already "Logic Pro Control Assignment" that demo how to do this but for only logic, however the same applies to other software. I also have another bit in "Part 5" which shows you how I did it.
Still i have this MPD26 and still hit very good is one of my favorites from Akai except from MPK Play Mini is fake 100% !! It broke all the keys with the first two months with out hard use!! so sad for Akai i will never buy something else from Akai turnitin into a problematic because i'm not the only one with that.....!! 😔
Can we control a sampler (like MPC 1000) with this gear? Actually the question is, can we change the pad note numbers? If we can, I can control my mpc with this (direct midi, without daw). Am I right?
ok thanks i already figured it out :D But can u tell me how to put some samples on cuz i cant figure that out i just got it today :D greetings from Slovenia
you have to remember its not a unit that has built in sounds, its a midi player that plays sounds from you computers software. You need to run your music software and make sure its midi connection is connected to that software.

Thank you saved me from buying a new controller by finally understanding how to expand my own. and for that you respectfully earned my subscription.
thanks for you all tutorial of mpd 26 its help me a lot !!!!
Thank you. I am still going to be updating more on the mpd's, rather more into the functions and using them to control other midi devices and controllers which I hope will help so many but thank you for your support, appreciate it.
OK ! Good videos!!! Greetings and happy new year!!!
great review :))

Yes, if you want the full version from the lite version that comes with the controller.
that would be really nice! Thanks
Yes, the closes preset would be "Fxpansion Guru" or you can try "GM Drum" they should work but you may still need to do some customisation.
Yes the note repeat feature is the same and tap tempo along with the time division.

awesome tutorial
+Joseph Diw i could hear your cat in the background at 6:30 and laughed
Thank you!
Depends on the software your using with the mpd? sometimes it's required to assign add-on in the software to the channels. What daw are you using?

Thanks mate!

Thanks for the video, it helped me a lot.

It's fully customisable with logic only, it's not automatically preset for logic, that something you will have to do yourself.
thanks for the videos but how can i attend the knobs?
is there any recommended customization for logic? in the context of using it as a midi controller rather than using it to control logic, per say loading samples into it with the exs24? is that a plausible function?
Thanks, I was hoping to use it with Studio Drummer/Superior Drummer. Would you reccomend this product for use with those? (If you've ever used them)
also do you know how to get aftertouch to work? thanks
no, this is really a stand alone device but you can however connect other midi hardware to it to control various functions on that device.
Thx that helps :)
So you have to connect it to a computer? Like you cant plug it into speaker or a mixer thats leads into monitors?

Hey just curious but what would you say is the best Midi Keyboard to attach to a pad like this?!
I Recently bought a brand new Akai MPD 26 and when I open it up it displays "UPGRADE No Firmware" and it seems to be stuck at that.
How Do I resolve this issue?
thanks
Can you plug right into a mixer?
No I don't believe its possible, I could be wrong but I've been trying for ages and all I can really do is trigger sounds, you can't load any samples at all, every thing is in your software. You'll have to pretty much create your own custom templet.
Midi clock support?
Dude How can I put my "Note Repeat" "Tap Tempo" and "REC" working in ableton?
how do u assign the faders to the DAW that u are using? cos I have got the stop, play and rec functionalities to work but the faders dont work

If we can, I can control my mpc with this (direct midi, without daw). Am I right?
How do you get the sound out of it? do you use the midi out? and how does that go into speakers?
I demo this in Akai MPD26 Part 5 Review.
is this controller fully working with logic ???
ok thanks i already figured it out :D
But can u tell me how to put some samples on cuz i cant figure that out i just got it today :D greetings from Slovenia
I noticed Reaper wasn't included in the presets, is the MPD26 compatible with Reaper?
can u add sounds to it?
anyone who knows how to edit the faders to be like they're the volume control in Logic Pro x??
New at this got my akai mpd26 hooked it up,gets no sounds how do I get presets or it the mpd26 to work?.
you have to remember its not a unit that has built in sounds, its a midi player that plays sounds from you computers software. You need to run your music software and make sure its midi connection is connected to that software.
thanks,still trying
Do you still have to buy the software?
What if your pads dont work when you've loaded all the programs and shit and still you get no sound from your pads
Can I make beats on it with out a computer or software ?
+Shacolon Warren you need a program its a trigger board. DOPE ASS FUCK put any and every sound on it
Got one on ebay 9 years later for $100
