  • The NYC Striped Bass bite has been kinda tricky for me. I've been skunked several days. Still fun to get out and explore. I've clocked more miles on my bicycle the past few weeks than any Fall I can remember. This particular session was great. With 20mph winds to my back, I could launch that shad like a trebuchet.

      Thank you for watching man!! It has been a lot of fun fishing lately. Little bit of a grind but that is the way it rolls, all good times. Hahaha I didn't think about that with the sunrise/sunset hours and you hitting up that night fishing bite. Totally true. Hope you are having a fun week Jerry!

    Wow! That looked like the encyclopedia illustration of a striped bass. Beautiful

      Hahaha thank you for watching Keith! That school seemed like it had been spending a lot of time in the Atlantic. They were very bright and not too much purple at all.

      It totally was that morning! It has been kinda hit or miss. Both the surf and jetty. Seems like some days they are there and others it'll go silent. Thank you for watching and commenting King-Pneuma!

    Looks like an awesome day at the jetty. I spent the other day fishing the inlet on the other side of the beach. Only got a lizardfish or speckled trout, couldn’t tell because it came off right by my feet. Was hoping to get a striper but nothing that day.

      Thank you for watching soufuds123! Sorry to hear about losing the fish. It is a bit of a grind but the striper are out there for sure. They've been a bit mysterious. I hope you catch one on your next trip!

    Nice ones, same with the skunking dude. Was just out on the jetty Monday morning/afternoon, not a nibble. Lovely weather though, still always a good time. Thanks for the video!

      Thank you for watching Stefan! I think I was out there too Monday and same scenario. I feel ya, the weather has been awesome lately. It might not be a crazy Fall with the Striper but a few here and there is still a blast. Hope you are having fun out there man!

    Beauties. Pretty cool how they were in the wash away from the rocks like that - a very good fall session for this year and all on 1 go pro battery! Lol always looking at the bright side of things like waking up later for the sunrise, love it

      Thank you for watching Peter! That hero9 has a great battery life. Yeah I am not sure what they were doing out there. There has been a pretty mixed bait scenario with some larger bunker schools here and there. Who knows, there could be a blast of fish in December with how wacky this year has been. The water temps are still pretty solid for Striper fishing.

      @@BobAquatic I agree, water temps are ideal right now, and I hope your right! but theyr already catching big girls in the raritan, idk we'll see

      @@PeterRanieriII Yeah they are totally on the move. I noticed the more northern states are kinda starting to catch the smaller fish. The Sound should still have fish for a few more weeks. Hopefully! If not the Tautog are still grooving.

    I love this spot,got a lot of over 30 inches this fall run.I met you last Monday on this spot.

    • @BobAquatic
      @BobAquatic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yo Polythinker it was really nice meeting you! 30 inches is a big bass. There has been some quality fish around. I have witnessed a few pretty big bass landed recently. Still some time left to keep on fishin. Hope to see you soon man!

    Great stuff man. Was just wondering how big the biggest fish was. Reason I ask is you swung them onto rocks and I’m wondering what the limit is to how big a fish I can swing is. That’s my main hesitation about fishing a jetty. Definitely can’t climb down with my whack knees. Also, what rod and line strength was that?

    • @BobAquatic
      @BobAquatic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Robert! I didn't measure any of them but somewhere in the 28-30" range I'd say. That is a great question! I usually look for a landing rock and then play it by ear if a swing up is possible. If the fish is too heavy I'll look around to see if another angler might be willing to hold my rod while I walk down to grab the fish. Sometimes on a larger fish with a longer fight a revive will be necessary so I've climbed down for that too. This was 30lb Flouro leader and 30lb power pro braid. Kinda on the light side for this type of fishing. I would recommend more like 40-60lb to be safer.

      @@BobAquatic ok one more question if you’ll indulge me. What weight was the jighead?

    • @BobAquatic
      @BobAquatic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robertyacoub9705 Ask as many questions as you'd like! I enjoy sharing. It is an Owner Ultrahead 3/4oz. I like that particular jig head because it doesn't catch many weeds.
