    Tip for your windows. Go to a dollar store and grab big cardboard paper/bristol boards. Hold it up to your window and Trace out and outline of the window. Cut it out with a box cutter or scissors. Then I like to add a duct tape border to each window cut out, this helps them stick in the corners of the window better and also prevents them from ripping plus you can make little adjustments with the tape if it doesn't quite cover every little spot, then you can throw them up in about a minute

      Dollar tree also sells the aluminum foil looking window shade thing. They are flimsy but you can block off all windows for under 10 dollars. I recently tinted my windows though. Only have one decent windshield four thing (mane wtf that shit called?) Lmao I'm stoned af while typing this... 👽

    I'm currently homeless and sleeping in my car. It's too bad it's illegal here in QLD Australia, and that my back seats don't go down, and that I'm 6ft. And it's surprisingly hard to find isolated spots, and when I do find them, people still tend to bother me as I stand out looking like an abandoned car or something. I have a tent but then I have to leave my car alone with everything that I own. Thinking of getting an upgrade eventually and driving far out into the outback.

    Good stuff! This is kinda what I’m halfway into already with my 91 Camry, except I’ve taken out the top part of the backseat to give myself some more vertical space and a flatter base to “build” the bed padding on. Good to know it’s working out well for a fellow traveler! So many years of being stupid/lazy/uncomfortable and never thinking about this option...

      If you’re going extreme with it fully remove your back seats, take out the back “dash” idk what it’s called where the speakers are behind the heads of the back seats, put in a wood flooring with small brackets that you can in screw to remove the trunk portion of the floor to get your spare tire out and you can do the same in the back seat where your head is but with hinges so you can fold it back and have a small storage compartment for clothes drinks etc, mount a small 23in tv/monitor on the backseat ceiling either a mini pc, console, DVD player under the drivers seat or in part of the storage under your head, solar powered battery bank/inverter to power everything, install the solar panels on the cars roof, Velcro a artic air chill AC to the front dash for sleeping at night powered off the inverter keep a set of tire patches in the glove box, a small electric air pump in the glove box for flat tires (this is what I plan on building soon) either in a SUV for full sized sedan because I do DoorDash and Instacart full time so I’m not stuck to one location and I want to start traveling around the country without worrying about having to pay rent and other bills back at home when I can live a minimal life exploring

    I was thinking of doing something like this when I often go solo-camping in National/Provincial Parks. I often get a campsite and setup a tent but sleeping on ground in a tent is kind of uncomfortable. I have a new Hyundai Elantra 2022 and one of the additional ideas is that since it has a sunroof, I could maybe keep that open a bit, and just take along a little fenced screen (to keep the insects out) that I could put on top of the open sunroof on the outside of the car to get some nice ventilation while sleeping.

I’m being forced to look to camping for awhile. I hate the way the backseat area is designed in the Chrysler. For bigger women like me- I just don’t see this being comfortable. Excuse me for asking but what do you do for security? if you're ever confronted by individuals that wish to make your night unpleasant?? I would think safety is 1st priority?

    • @BudgetTravelKids
      @BudgetTravelKids  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question! That’s why I sleep in the car- because I can lock the doors. Much more safe/secure for a solo female traveler than sleeping in a tent

    Aren't those curtains obvious? You should put in reflectors anc cover them with black tape would be much better and less obvious 👍🤔

    I drive a 97 buick lesabre. It feels like a living room and I'm 6 foot. If you had one of these it would be like a luxury suite! I only drive old school American luxury sedans, just incase I have to live in my car. I've had to do it several times. I technically live in my car now. Great video! 👍❤

This ctually helped a lot of people out including myself who aren’t doing too well and are going through things who may be new to this and have limited to no options. Stay safe sis!

    I am about to take a long trip and planning to sleep in the car to save some money. Question: do you crack opened your windows for alittle bit to allow airflow during the sleep or is it a bad idea?

    • @BismuthKnight
      @BismuthKnight 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Would suggest getting window shields/deflectors and some kind of screen mesh, you can crack the windows and they wont look open from the outside and the mesh keeps out bugs. I think the deflectors are worth the investment, you could probably rig the mesh cheaper than buying a kit though!

    In times of heat you can stop at the home depot or anywhere that sells heat reflective material and carve it out to fit your windows. It’s not 100% but it will help w keeping the heat away.

    My father chose to live in his van. When he sees these vids, he says living in a car is great if u r a minimalist. He says most vids have too much in the vehicle. Cooking, u don't need to cook. Fast food chains. No dishes no shopping no cooking. The battery fridge is all u need for coke juice beer.

    You can also slide the front seats up and fold them down forward maybe not to give you more headroom, but give you some space for your arms to stretch a little haha

    You fit all your stuff in your car well. Wondering...why don't you lay on the passenger side (move the front seat forward (or lay it down forward), then have most of your things on the driver side? I think you would still have enough room to sleep, yet keep your valuables hidden in the trunk area. Just a thought. Stay safe dear! :)

      @@BudgetTravelKids Basic setup was plastic bins to hold my clothes, a mesh bag to hold my dirty clothes, a futon mattress in the back, legs extended into the trunk at night for sleep, curtains, Planet Fitness for showers. It was at least 10X easier to do it when I could come back for the weekend, recharge, and stock food for the week. Over time I bought supplies to make myself better at it, 12V fridge and a power supply and so on. The problem I never really resolved was keeping enough of a charge to keep the fridge working the whole time.

    I tried outting my feet in the trunk but it was too tight tonturn around in and it lets in alot of air. I have a longn4 door sedan Buick that I lay the passenger seat back and I can stretch out fine and Im 6 ft. I work locally butnhave been sleeping in my car for a year now and I love it!! I get a room for the weekemd every month just to sprawl out some lol. I have storage for my stuff and the gym forna shower. I get to enjoy my money more this way and save more. When I pay my car off Im gonna take so close weekend getaways every month.

      I recommend testing it out before you go. You could potentially move the front passenger seat forward and build up a base behind that seat to expand the length
