Mooney Ovation dual GI-275 Panel Upgrade - Part 1: DECISIONS.

- Part 1 in the upgrade of the panel of my 1995 Mooney Ovation. I am replacing the classic analog six-pack with two GI-275's. The one that will go in the location of the Attitude Indicator will be a GI-275 ADAHARS+AP and the second one will go in the location of the HSI and will be a GI-275 ADAHRS as a standby ADI and also configured as an MFD so that it can display a multitude of pages such as HSI, HSI Map, MFD, weather, etc.
Alternate options were: 1) a G3X with a GI-275 ADAHRS+AP so that I would have an interface with the KFC-150 currently in the plane, a G500 Txi with a standby G5, or a Bendix-King AeroVue Touch + AeroCruze 230 because of a great discount offer. However, the last alternative had a lot of problems including lack of communications between the AeroVue and AeroCruse!
The dual GI-275's were the most cost effective options.
About to go through this with a kfc150. Thanks for your efforts.

There are not many for good Mooneys for sale. Also depends on the model that you are looking for.

Smart move not going with King. We went with a KSN770 and a GTN650. The King has caused nothing but heart ache.
Big "G" is the way to go. Sorry about the issues with the KSN 770!

Learning it all now.
The KX155 should be able to send an ILS to the Garmin 275 HSI. I was flying my buddies plane today and it worked great.
KX155 can send VOR/LOC info to 275 HSI as long as it is not setup as a standby ADI as well.
I presume your buddy's HSI is a standalone HSI and is not configured as Standby ADI unit for another 275 ADAHRS (+AP) configured as ADI.
How Proficient are you at patronal panel like Needle Ball and airspeed. On my very first actual IFR flight after getting my Instrument rating I had a Gyro Horizon fail in flight. It wasn't Low IFR about 900' ceilings.
