    “What about what people will say?”
    “I don’t care what they say.”
    The Idea of You is the smart and sexy new movie from Amazon MGM Studios starring Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway as a 40-year-old single mom who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet. Join star/producer Anne Hathaway in conversation with the film’s (all-female) producing team, Cathy Schulman, Gabrielle Union, and Jordana Mollick. Hear about how the bestselling book by Robinne Lee came to life on the big screen, and what this refreshing romance has to say about modern love and a woman rediscovering herself.

    I love this movie. Anne and Nick can both portray so much emotion, without saying a word. As an older female, the story brings hope and joy. We need more like this. And maybe a sequel.

    Gab Union is brilliant, stunning and such a go-getter. She has become a true leader in the industry producing TV Shows and now movies. Keep going queen.

    I have watched this over and over again since first seeing it. I have never done this with any other movie. It hit so many important feelings I have gone through as a single mom. I cried and cried and cried over this movie as I was reliving all of it. Quite the cleansing/healing process. The realness of the connection between Hayes and Solene - the chemistry, I felt was off the charts and it makes me want to experience that again.

    I loved this film, it reminded me of a person I was long ago. Now at 70 I have to live vicariously through others eyes but I so longed to once again see my late younger husband walk back through that door x

    The colors validated the intensity of Solene and Hayes relationship-- it was like a kaleidoscope of their relationship and now they had to move on in separate directions to fully heal their wounds. Powerful! And, the end, super inspirational!

    ❤Great movie with indepth emotions that need exploring more in the future. Nick&Anne are a great pairing. I thought Anne was a little more stiff in her character than Nick. But the more i watch the movie i love the love that Nick has for Solene. I am not crazy about the (5) yr separation. Izzy needed to watch her mom fall in love&fight to keep it. Thank-you all for being women who make a difference❤

      Oh, come on!
      Izzy could not fight for Solene and Hayes. Some of Hayes' obsessive fans were far too aggressive to deal with. The man himself did nothing to calm down some of these morons. Solene had to withthrow to save her daughter, her business, and herself.
      We all know that the internet is full of hate.

      ❤and you definitely fit that description. I was hoping that Solene& Hayes would fight to keep their love intact&show Izzy how important it is to stand up for love no matter what. The book was “an affair”. The movie was “reality”. Hayes was very much “in love” with Solene in both venues….

    Next, I would like to see single women in their 40s with no kids who aren’t dying of cancer falling in love and living their lives. And maybe failing at it. We need it. Maybe women who were never married . We need some representation

    I appreciate Anne telling the story of the painting. I fell in love with the painting, which doesn't exist, as described in the book. Anne spoke of it having a "woman going into focus and out of focus at the same time" - which is beautiful, but there is also an anemone, which carries the idea of blooming and unfolding - when Hayes says later to Solene "you let me unfold you." It recalls the book. I did think the painting in the movie was beautiful, and now having heard the explanation, it gives it more meaning. But I would still love the painting from the book to be brought into being.

    💖 I feel like I have to see this film now . Love what the lady 7/8 mins in said, powerful ! As the lady 11 mins in said, how is it men are allowed to be complex, but women we get compartmenalized ? And when Anne said , why did I choose to be the bigger person ? , exactly, we often do as women. Understanding human complexity is the height of maturity and the complete opposite of insecure , lazy ignorance. People should make space for each other , as Anne said.

    Cathy is Great. She is correct that Hollywood male execs are interested in comic books. Ironman, Marvel, Batman, Antman, Spider-Man. These execs have a IQ of 10? All not our kind of movies.

    Anyone who enjoyed The Idea of You might also like the Swedish series Love and Anarchy (nerflix$”, 2020). Also a “reverse” age gap, gorgeous actors, the most unbelievable chemistry, epic first kiss (unexpected and understated, in broad day light, but really epic), top notch acting, especially by the female lead Ida Engvol. Also it being European, there is true, unabashed, natural sensuality.
    Most importantly, it explored the story of a 35-year old woman who is realizing she hasn’t been living an authentic life and is kind of unraveling just to kind of find herself by the end of the series. Her unrevealing and coming together are set into motion by an encounter with a 22-year old pure, free-spirited (somewhat conveniently so) guy.
    Also, the first time I heard of Nicholas Galitzine was when reading reviews for the show - people kept saying how the young actor in it looks exactly like Nicholas.

      You’re welcome. If it has on you the effect it had one me (and pretty much everyone else who had watched it among my friends), it will be like the chemistry, gazes and glances of The idea of you but multiplied by 5 in both the effect on the viewer, execution, frequency and that “ah!” factor🥰

      well, thak you. I'll try it. I wasn't totally buying Nick and Ann's relationship. So I am curious. Personally I think that as much as I really like Nick, perhaps this story could have had a bigger impact as an "odd" romance with say someone like Vik White as an example, (he's a member of August Moon, I had never heard of him before) instead of Nick. I will insist, I find Nick's performance perfect but not as breaking clichés of age gap. What I don't know is if that Vik can act, apart of dancing.

      dear elena, THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!! I just finished LOVE AND ANARCHY. And now I got the guts to say what I thought when I watched The Idea Of You. IMO a dumb banality with just the powerful Amazon promotion. I so much wish that Love and Anarchy were promoted by Netflix like that. I have Netflix but they come out with so many titles that I just can't figure out what to pick. And yes, the actor playing Max looks like Nick in some takes (many), I thought him terrific. And then there's Sophie !. That woman is gorgeous and she does a great job, like everybody really. Nothing like inanimated Ann Hathaway. She has only a dozen of acting registers and keeps to them like a robot. Sorry, I know she's a dear to everybody. Well not to me. Now I realize that it wasn't Nick my problem with this couple. It's Ann. Anyway, sorry for this long diatribe. And MANY thanks again I'll watch Love and Anarchy again, and again, and again.

Now I'm afraid of the already announced second season of Red White And Royal Blue. Hoping for the best and expecting the worst. We'll see. Anyway, thanks again for the joy of the first of Love and Anarchy

    Great interview but why do people still wear leather? Do they not know that it comes from animals that had been SEVERELY abused and killed? What kind of message exactly does a leather jacket worn for nothing other than style (or, to be precise, the wearer’s The Idea of Style) send into the world? That animals are a commodity, a raw material, that their pain receptors and human-grade physical suffering don’t matter?

    • @Bklyngurl85
      @Bklyngurl85 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Majority of clothes today are not made with real leather. I can’t imagine that these women in particular are wearing real leather.

    • @elenasingleterry5854
      @elenasingleterry5854 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Bklyngurl85 This is a real leather suit, as stated by the many media that published photos of Anne wearing it that day. This year she had also worn a Versace leather dress and later complained she couldn't move much while wearing as it was so tight - it being leather that's only ever meant to be on animals that were born with it. Sorry to say but this suit is from a slaughterhouse :(

    Thanks for this great panel interview. I'm obsessed with TIOY, and having insight into Nick's casting and how the movie was made helped me understand it more. Should out to Annie who gave such a heartfelt portrayal of Solene 🫶🏻
