About the Josh Snodgrass the Guitarist: "My dad is a pastor who taught me to play guitar in church as a child. I played many of these wonderful hymns growing up in our small country church. When I grew to be a teenager I didn't understand how a good God could allow suffering in life and I left the church and entered a time of dramatic rebellion in life. After several years of addiction and experiencing a lot of destruction, much like the prodigal son in scripture, I cried out to God for forgiveness and placed my faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Because of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, I was forgiven of my many sins and now I am a new creation in Jesus. I now understand that suffering in life happens to all as a result the fall and sin (our own and others) but for the Christian God can actually use it for our good to make us stronger in Him. I now have a wife named Sarah and 2 sons which have been a great blessing to me. I have had the blessing of serving hundreds of churches with live music and I look forward to the time when I can resume "in person" ministry events. Dear Father,
I now believe that Jesus Christ is Your only begotten Son, that He came down to our earth in the flesh and died on the cross to take away all of my sins and the sins of this world. I believe that Jesus Christ then rose from the dead on the third day to give all of us eternal life. Lord JESUS, I now confess to You all of the wrong and sinful things that I have EVER done in my life (Past/Present/Future) Lord Jesus, I ask that You please forgive me and wash away all of my sins by the blood that You have personally shed for me on the cross. Also Lord HELP ME TO FORGIVE MYSELF, and others, I am now ready to accept You as my personal Lord and Savior. I now ask that You come into my life and live with me for all of eternity. ( This Prayer is merely a guideline to lead you into repentance).

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. I couldn't stand these hymns as a kid. Didn't understand them and certainly didn't appreciated them. But over the years as I matured, I discover how they nourish my soul more and more. I have always loved these hymns and my mother gave me a love of instrumental music when she put me in piano music when I was 8 years old - my love has branched from piano to guitar violin etc.

Thank you very much for sharing your music AND your story. Have you read Tim Keller's book Prodigal God? He makes the central point that "prodigal" often and formerly had the meaning of lavish or extravagant. So according to Keller the sons are both just different types of sinners. Meanwhile, the father is abundantly generous and gracious with both sons. Even willing to bear their shame as they both show signs of selfishness and foolish rejection of dad's love and values. So we are all the wayward son and God is lavish in His searching for us and inviting us and celebrating us. He bears our shame. He pays for our wrongdoing and throws a party if we respond. I am glad you responded.

I went looking for it and found it only in your sets, so suspected it might be an original. Hi Josh - I'm curious if these are your arrangements or are they from another resource? Like yourself, I love playing these old hymns on my guitar. I'm a writer and I mostly listen to instrumentals...such as what you have posted here. Your playing is a blessing, for sure. May you continue to be blessed with the God-given skills that so obviously shine throughout these 3.5 hours of playing. "Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, (on your stringed instruments) and shout for joy."
Thanks Dave, These are my arrangements. I kind of have a system I use to arrange most of the songs. Sometimes I will alter the chord progressions a bit.
