    Do you think the calendar integration makes sense in Home Assistant? And why or why not? Let me know in the comments!

      yes! We have a shared calendar for our home and we always forget to look at it! I need a kiosk-mode display by the front door displaying upcoming shared meetings. This is perfect :)

    I have a shared family calendar. I also have a wake-up lights automation for the morning so i will setup the automation to check if my wife and I have the day off work (in the calendar) so the lights stay off. I already use the inbuilt Workday sensor but the google calendar addition will be helpful and save me having to manually add these dates to the local one. Thanks.

    As i already had the G.A. integration in Home assistant, i just add the calendar API and then, followed from 2'53'' in video to add app OAuth and a new credential in my existing GA project and all seems to work fine ! thank you so much "Smart Home Junkie" ❤

    I think the calendar integration makes sense to a degree - but I would really like to trigger an event (say a conditional card to display) only when a specific entry is found on a calendar for that specific day which seems to be difficult to achieve

    • @GlasterLannet
      @GlasterLannet ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, this is what I was hoping for. I want to trigger different things based on the title of the event.

    • @dirkhilges
      @dirkhilges ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Should be possible. That's what i'm trying right now.
      The action is defined as yaml:
      service: "{{ trigger.calendar_event.summary.split(' ')[1] }}"
      data: {}
      target:
      entity_id: "{{ trigger.calendar_event.summary.split(' ')[0] }}"
      or
      service: "{{ trigger.to_state.attributes.message.split(' ')[2] }}"
      data:
      position: "{{ trigger.to_state.attributes.message.split(' ')[3] }}"
      target:
      entity_id: "{{ trigger.to_state.attributes.message.split(' ')[1] }}"
      light.xy ON / shutter.xy position 50% f.ex.

      @@RND-USA
      Sort of, yes.
      I was able to trigger events. But it was unreliable. Sometimes the calendar event triggered and so switched the light on/off, sometimes no event, and no log entrty.
      When defining a calendar event, the duration of the event itself has to be only 1min. No two events can occur at the same time (switch light on at 21:00 and a second event at 21:00 shutter down f.ex.).Also you have to define one calendar entry for light on, and a second for light off.

    Is there an easy way to have an automation where my LED strips (WLED) change colors/effects/presets based on a calendar event? I'm thinking to have a preset run on Easter, a different one on Christmas, a different one on Valentine's Day, etc. I have the calendar set up with all of the holidays and the start times, but I need the way to implement the automation with the device action.

    Hi! Nice video. Did exactly what you did with the notifications. However, notifications never arrive on my phone (they do when I use a text helper instead of the trigger.calendar_*) to send a message OR if I just send plain text after 'message:'). Error (tracing): Error rendering data template: UndefinedError: 'dict object' has no attribute 'calender_event'. Using it to send birthday notifications in my (local) calendar.

    Hi, is there any way to automate something if there is (or there is not) an event planned for the day? For example: trigger: at time19:00; condition: there's no event on the calendar today; action: turn lights off. thanks

  • @atomlabor
    @atomlabor 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    New Problem in HA with the automation:
    Use of the obsolete "calendar.list_events" service recognised
    Use "calendar.get_events" instead, which supports multiple entities.
    Please replace this service, adjust your automations and scripts and select Submit to close this issue.
