I know everything in this movie is fiction, but some scenes actually happened or are happening in the world. As someone who survived the February 6 earthquakes in Turkey, I can say that one of the things you should not do after a big earthquake is to enter/stay in buildings. Because, apart from the aftershocks, There may be another big earthquake in another fault zone that is triggered by the first big earthquake . Just like another big earthquake happened here on February 6, 9 hours after the first big earthquake.sorry for bad english.stay safe everyone
@@adaezeobi64 If the survivors have established camps outside, that would be your best bet. Staying in already damaged buildings is indeed not safe as they can collapse at any moment after the earthquake, especially if the quake was strong enough to wipe out all the other buildings nearby. Your main goal should be to leave to quake zone asap after such a disaster, but if you have to stay then look for camps out in the open, built by survivors or outside help if there is any.
The strategy of the people in the building was pretty bad. Starting a war with the outsiders would quickly result a siege ring around the complex. For outsiders it's absolutely unnecessary to attack directly, just don't let them out. When the resources are over they would start kill each other inside or they need to break out and leave the complex. But anyway, staying is basically not an option in a longer term. In a destroyed city like this the supplies will exhaust anyway. Aftershocks also keep threatening the building to collapse. The mass of dead bodies are guaranteeing a pandemic outbreak in 1 or 2 weeks. The best possible option to survive without a relatively quick foreign rescue is to reach the rural areas.
They showed how they collected the dead bodies and got rid of them and practiced general sanitation. Dead bodies do carry disease, but not epidemic-causing viruses. Bodies don't suddenly become plague carriers unless they had plague when they died. The diseases in carcasses are ones of poor sanitation, easily avoided by good sanitation. The outsiders lacked the organization to lay siege to an entrenched force that's greater in number and has resources, commonality, shelter, and the chance to organize. Outsiders would turn on each other very quickly as they had so few resources. Each individual or each family would not have much incentive to help others over helping themselves, whereas inside the complex, SOME incentive exists bc they've established that helping and protecting each other is advantageous. They should've started growing food. It would not be enough, though. Still, with so many dead, there'd be a lot of food to recover from populated areas. Which i guess there was otherwise they wouldn't have lasted months. They do mention aftershocks. Their building was probably built over an area of unusually shallow bedrock, or some other fluke by chance, It must be an enormouos earthquake - like over 9.2 - and very close to completely topple that many modern, Korean residential units. Residential units must be built to the highest of structural standards, because it's probable that when disaster strikes, families will be home and completely vulnerable. Schools, hospitals and other emergency buildings also fit this category. Shopping centers, offices are lower. Lowest are things like warehouses. It seems like they are very modern, even newly built buildings. No time for structural degredation. However, it's not economical to build structures to withstand forces they almost certainly will never face. Even if Earthquakes are common, like in Japan, youdon't build things to withstand a 10.0 earthquake (which is ten times stronger than a 9.0) bc they've never been observed before. Earthquakes of 9.0 are very rare. Only FOUR have ever been recorded in over a century. We didn't measure before the 20th century, but we have an idea and the Earthquake that caused the massive Tsunami in Japan about ten yrs ago, was among the largest that even Japan has experienced. And they're used to them. They get them a lot. The Tsunami overtopped their massive seawalls in many places (which were reasonably expected to protect from 500+ yr return period events), but not many buildings came down. That's mostly because the vast majority of buildings in Japan were built after the war, and the ones that are pre-war, are very strong. Strong bc they've built for earthquakes for centuries and strong bc the war knocked down most buildings that weren't the strongest. Coincidentally, most of Korea's buildings were built after the Korean war. For similar reasons. And they were built with modern techniques and with understanding of how to withstand the immense stresses of seismic actions. Places like Pakistan, China, Turkey, and the African continent, keep having large earthquakes that kill tens or hundreds of thousands and then they rebuild much the same, and then it happens again 60 or 80 yrs later (or 25 yrs later but in a different tegion) and they do it again. In the US, we keep rebuilding flooded houses bc of red tape. Often, FEMA really wants to move people to avoid rebuilding their homes; the people want to move bc they're sick of flood destroying their lives even if material possessions are returned; but the red tape forbids everyone. Which is about as dumb as a society can get. Everyone involved wants the same thing, including the authority with the authority to do it, but their own red tape forbids it. That's a result of partisan politics in congress. Our society crumbles bc when it crumbles, one side or the other gains a TINY victory. The win costs them substantially more than all the losses have, but it's okay as lomng as the other side loses even more
Contrary to quite a few other comments, I do think the message of the movie stands. There's a reason humans startet living in villages, then towns, then countries - there is strength in numbers. Yes, they obviously didn't have unlimited food and space in the beginning - which is why they should have organized better right from the start.

Not only did they lose out on dozens if not hundreds of potential workers for search parties, they got violent against children and made enemies out of everyone surviving in the region by being marauders and murderers. Outsiders ended up prospering and their society collapsed.

What is peculiar about the class war in South Korea is that it is mainly between the middle-middle class and the upper-middle class. To the middle-middle class, the upper-middle, not the rich, are the ones that make them feel jealous. In this recap, a woman reminds the other owners of the apartments that the migrants were originally the residents of a nearby complex, who constantly looked down on them before the disaster. Where is the rest of the country/world? Did the earthquake happen all over the world? Even so, the military would regroup and try rescuing survivors. The rest of the world would be there with humanitarian aid and efforts. We don't just leave people in natural disasters.
Poki looks so offended he wasn't offered any treats 😂
What a awful dystopia! I love it! Good choice😘
Whole city is annihilated but we can see so many people who survived somehow, this is strange
Is it me or do the scifi movies in Asia have interesting stories compared to what we get here? This is the sort of stuff the Scifi channel should be showing.
That doesn't look like an earthquake
It didn't mention elites being in their bunkers..
"Always look out for #1" ...reality isn't kind to the weak or the naive.
I use to think that but looking back a lot of opportunities passed because I never extended a hand
@@younghentaii1772 Yeah yeah yeah, talk is cheap until you're in a single building after a catastrophe not knowing what's to come in the weeks ahead and seeing hundreds of people outside wanting to be let in while threatening you.
@@citrusbutter7718The Residents were the ones who enacted a policy of violence first. The whole thing is an allegory for Nazi Germany. After the Great Depression, Adolf Hitler (a popular outsider) talked about the superior race and how they had to cleanse society of foreigners and dissidents. This was popular, at first. But when you keep making enemies and stealing and killing dissidents people realize that you aren't a really good leader and rebel. And then while this rebellion was easily dealt with through violence, the outsiders you stole from and murdered brutally all formed a coalition to crush you.
"2012" looking ahh earthquake
lol
0:05 so it means no nature?
Young tak was a true badass
I love how they all come together to discuss their problems with the outsiders but let’s face it in these situations there is always the leader and the led. Situations like this turn into dictatorships quicker than you can say CCP.
CCP
Okay I gotta ask, is the voice behind these recaps a real person or AI
It's an AI (sadly)
obv ai
@@ArvalVampireI like the AI voice. Sometimes the writers humor cones through in these scripts. Its really sublte but the comedic value increases because this AI is reading it.
It's AI.. you can tell by the bad pronunciations
@@ArvalVampire I'm happy it's an AI because if that was a real person id think he's illiterate.... The number of times he's said words wrong, call people the wrong name, pronounce things oddly, and refers to women as "him, his, he" and males as "her, she, her's". With his voice being an AI it makes sense.
did no emergency airforce survive the earthquacke?
My question is: did this affect Pyongyang as well?
They’re so sterile that they cant build a shack
I find it very strange how not 1 person. Has a satellite phone or means on communication with the outside world.
Unless you assume the whole region is in complete chaos. Rescue workers would've been there within a few days, max.
The beginning shows the city flying up into the air like a wave that goes thousands of feet into the air. That would suggest that the earthquake was so massive the entire continent is in ruins.
sounds like how people are living in North Korea. imo
I wonder if whoever made this got sued for copying that one weird Japanese movie that is literally the same exact plot as this except has these mutant monsters in it and even the scenes so similar I thought at first this was that movie. They look like they were both shot on the exact same set using the exact same props and everything. This one is essentially just missing the monsters
whats the name of the movie
What is the name of this please... is it available on Netflix?
"...hundreds of bodies they are ignoring." - what will even a barely hundred people do? 🤔🙄
This was so sad. Nurse pissed me off with her self righteousness.
Blasted nurses always trying to help people and make life better, they really suck!!/s
😂😂😂
@@Klm49 You watched the movie right? She was literally judging the men on what they had to do to survive and keep her safe. See what that got her?

What is peculiar about the class war in South Korea is that it is mainly between the middle-middle class and the upper-middle class. To the middle-middle class, the upper-middle, not the rich, are the ones that make them feel jealous. In this recap, a woman reminds the other owners of the apartments that the migrants were originally the residents of a nearby complex, who constantly looked down on them before the disaster. In fact, this is the mindset of most South Koreans. They treat business owners or doctors as bloodless thieves, not humans. In their mind, it is the poor who are really humane and deserve any rights. We South Koreans think that It is a mystery how a market economy even exists in South Korea. No wonder communism thrives in North Korea.
After being a functional military dictatorship for 40 years it sorta makes sense that South Korea's society would reject the upper middle class that partook in the earlier regimes
They haven't thought about looting the remains of other buildings there could be food and supplies around
The military has no rights to kill the survivors
I am really confused by the ending... They had a place to live they were all doing fine they found out 1 guy was lying so try to kill him yea whatever but then they decide to bomb and destroy their own home and leave for no reason? Don't understand it at all lol
It shows what happens when people lose logic. They were doing well before because they were thinking logically. In the end, they started thinking irrationally and tried to kill the person who, like him or not, had the best leadership skills in the group. The irony is that they did it because of one lady's ego, and within less than 10 minutes, their world came crumbling down. The moral is don't let emotional people lead you to ruin.
The actor who played Yeong-tek was the Front Man in Squid Game.
Oh I never thought of this plot . It can happen
How unique

It's listed right at the very beginning seconds at the very bottom of the screen.

You got so much wrong, the can of peaches the dude traded for his watch when you said the can fell under the couch you didn’t say it was his,or when they asked the public servant they were talking to the main characters husband not the dude that put the fire out ,and on and on..double check the editing and a.i composition to make sure you get the little things that make the movie right.

the wife ruined it all. he got his husband killed. for saving herself from her conscience.what a selfish woman.
typical fem, contribute the least but wants to dictate the laws of others. They kicked out the person with the leadership skills to pander to someone living off the others and lost everything within less than 10 minutes.
wait but what happens next , what caused the earthquake?

If the imposter is doing a better job of leading them? Enough to do the hard decisions? Why care he was not the original? The goal is survival, not to starve from your high horse. 😎
Because he was getting tyrannical. If he stays composed and reasonable there would have been no concern for him.
Because he wasn't a better leader. He was literally an allegory of Adolf Hitler. Outsider that rallies the Residents by saying Residents are the superior ones. Purges the society of Outsiders with violence. Creates a coalition of enemies by being a tyrannical and cruel thief. The entire society collapses because he was a terrible leader like Adolf.
@@nicholascoob1350 in that situ? I'd take the tyrant. It's not like they can just hop on a plane or over a fence and be saved from all woes. Everywhere is shite and it's the lesser or atleast known evil.
The final scene is possibly the worst idea of any sane woman, go join the clearly unprotected group of women. It's like asking to be preyed upon. It's the usual script bs about a dystopia where people make decisions like they are still in a normal society and relatively safe environment.
So where is the rescue teams army or international relief teams?
eaten.
All gone because that earthquake was fucking massive. It threw a city a mile into the air. I think Asia if not every continent is in ruins.
Why young tak throw that girl? Answer please
I watched the movie but didn't understand that part
How did he sleep through the earthquake lmao
Why did they not just go to a new country instead of living in that city where nothings left
The earthquake was so massive it sent their concrete jungle a mile into the air like a tsunami. I assume the entire continent is in ruins if not the whole planet.

So, where's their government? It feels odd to see all this unfolding without any army, police, government officials on the job coming to their rescue.
Assumably gone or busy dealing with the total collapse of Asia after an apocalyptic earthquake that turned the ground into a literal tsunami.

Interesting fable on human society: the forttress countries are also from the inside un-free and ruled by hyporcites, I must think about Trump or Meloni here.
Yup it's the authoritarian mindset which is incredibly hypocritical, short-sighted, and counterproductive. This film did a good job of showing how unsustainable that "I've got mine f*ck you" philosophy is.
Lmao, that karen was so ready to out the guy who has done the most and executed the tough choices for the community. How the cards tumble after creating dissonance.
Created enemies out of potential allies, became a dictator, and murdered a resident while proclaiming a pure society of residents-only. You'd be a fan of this guy named Adolf. Was very similar.
It was chaos because outsiders toppled the wall honey! Not because the lying, murdering imposter was ousted! It was always going to be chaos if the outsiders planned a siege that day.
Correlation does not equal causation.
AND he had a dead body rotting in a washing machine in his kitchen! You're the type to say "J. Dahmer would be good to keep in charge if he was doing a good job and only needed to eat a few men to keep doing it." Would that be a worthwhile trade off? How much horror are you willing to overlook for a few scraps of bread?
