Hello Dave, saw you out there the day you took video. Two guys in kayaks. Trolling motor on Kaku hit bottom all over Stickmarsh. Much of it is only 18” deep. Fished NS along east side. Few gar, water very dirty. No activity. Several (4) metal, welded angle iron fish attractors exposed in channel or along edges heading south towards Farm 13. Found fish in Backlot along few banks with vegetation. 7 up to 3lbs on shallow diving Crankbaits. Purchased a Kast King reel recently. Usually stick with Shimano, but gave it a try. Very impressed. The deadbolt reel is just as smooth as my curados. Good to see you.

Yes, I remember talking with you guys. I was out for a short time; took a few cast in and around the stumps...but no fish. Hope to see you guys again. Fish Well, Stay Safe

Thanks for the update! I love that lake. I hope they are successful in getting more vegetation growing out there.

Wow you got balls i used to see dozens of ten foot gators

Alligator attacks in normal settings are incredibly rare. Floridians are more likely to die from a bee sting or lightning strike than an alligator attack.

I kayak the lakes all the time and never had issues with gators. I'm more concerned about water moccasins...in any event, I take precautions to keep my distance and protect myself 😎. Appreciate your comments, and thanks for watching.

All of the "sticks" you're seeing above the low water level are the remaining branches of laydowns from all the trees that once stood there. The hurricanes over the years have blown them all over. Many are stumps of course, but the majority are laydowns with the old tree branches sticking up everywhere. Since all of the trees have been blown over to create laydowns everywhere, I've always told people: Ya never want to jump in the water there........not even feet first, because you would be impaled. Even when the water level is normal, when ya hook a true giant ( 10 to 15 lbs ) here, ya need to do everything in your power to keep that giant bass at or near the surface..........because giant bass are smart.........once hooked, they'll dive for that gnarly wood every time.

I have fished that area to the west several times. Interesting to see it now that the water is down.

I understand they will begin replanting shortly.

Hey Dave - the next time you go to the Stick Marsh do you mind shooting a video of the area North of where you put in? It starts just right around the corner from you. Much appreciated - Brian

I am very familiar with the north area...it's a great kayak spot. I may head out there next week or the following.

Maybe we'll get lucky and google earth will get some satellite images with the water down. Then you can mark the stumps on your fish finder.

Google data updates constantly by it may take months, or often times, years before the satellite images reflect exactly what the location looks like in reality.

Could organize a small crew with a chain saw and get out there and lop them down while the chance is there. 😂😂

There are lots of them. I only travel a short distance but I saw many more far away.

They will spray the vegetation as soon as it starts growing. FWC sucks at vegetation management.

They can lower the water level in Stickmarsh without affecting other lakes in that chain. Reason being that they can use the C54 canal to dump water.
However due to the long dry spell weve been experiencing in the area, all the lakes have very low water levels.

    • @BeyondHeadwaters

It is my understanding they are pushing water into Three Forks in order to lower Stick Marsh.
