The reason the 5+ FNP feels like it stopps more than 1/3 of the damage is because you need to inflict 50% more damage to kill him. On average, it takes him from 16 damage to 24 damage.
Another aspect of the hydra is that it's big making it hard to draw a good line of fire with since it's competing with Russes and Dorns for those firing lanes. I've only run it a few times and it doesn't do much unfortunately. I wanted to see it as a better armoured sentinel but none of those are great. I still like it in theory though, autocannons rule!
@@MordianGlory tbf mordian you need one exterminator to support them and that's it. They hit on 4s with rerolls because he flies and then wounding on 2s with twin linked. Any hit you get is almost guaranteed to wound and is flat damage 3. It's not very flexible but it is very useful against both daemon primarchs and against other targets in a pinch.
If the DG are running the new detachment, the deathshroud are getting a 5" scout move as well if they don't put them in Deepstrike or a landraider, so those termies are going to be on center objectives turn 1. So, trying to peel them off of early primary scoring is going to be rough.
The Cadian command squad with the built in big BS Banner seems like a good option/hard counter facing the Death Guard Meta. Most Death Guard debuffs fail versus the Cadian command squad command aura.
Living rent free in your head am i ay Mordian? I jest I reckon shroud go back up in points next slate there's really no reason they went down in points last one. But leave my Morty alone and keep those goddamn scions away from me haha!
Take hydras. I battle tested them agains him a while ago and they clipped his wings very quickly. They are damage 3 folks. You can take 3 for 255. Just slightly more then a dorn
You should've seen him in early 8th! His defense was comparable, but he could self-buff with psychic powers to take his offense to insane, insane levels.
I faced him in my last game (and 12 Deathshrouds) and he wasn't that scary. Caught him in combat with a sentinel and Russ and finally got him down. The Deathshrouds were in deepstrike so they got screened out and then be basilisked so I think I like one of them and they spurted 5 Kasrkins, then I just kept my distance 😁

This is one of the hard to grasp truths of FNP. 6+ = 20% boost in wounds needed to kill, 5+ 50%, 4+ 100%, 3+ 200% and the elusive 2+ 500%.
Tripple hydra, 255pts all the anti fly/rr against fly, lethal hits and hk missles you need.
It's an idea! But I find it's too order intensive and needs lots of AP boosting support to be effective

To quote a witty dark eldar lord, “have you tried Wraith Guard? That usually solves the problem?”

Any fnp is a potential nightmare
"He believes his gods are on his side. Let him believe what he will. We have the tanks on ours."
Potential solution for the overwatch is Kurovs Aquila on the tempestor prime

Mortarian. A job for the Punisher Gatling Gun perhaps and it’s mortal wounds? Good dice rolls needed but still, could it work?
For killing mortarian have you considered 40 catachans with a commissar and regimental preacher
have you considered a banesword or shadowsword?

I've never knew that there is something like mortarion meta :D as. As aDG player I'm not using him that often due to his shitty combat stats

@comraderaoul oh I know that. Was fighting against him that's why I decided to go for DG in 10

All you need is -2 and no cover, and you're hitting his invuln. He's so incredibly undercosted at 300 points.
