BEVERLY. i had a crappy childhood, lame grandparents etc. BUT my step gramma, who always was gramma, was the best! she reminds me of you! she had a big pantry that was a crafting room. omg she had everything. i will never forget sitting down with her and creating beautiful things. she also was a wiz with baking and whenever we felt like it we, my little siste and i would go over and ask her if we could make cookies, or a cake. she always said yes! she was great! even tho i was one of many of her grandkids, and i wasnt a grandaughter by blood she always treated me like i was! i was getting my birthday card with my $10 in it till i was well into my 20's-when she passed. anywho you remind me of her. YOUR grand daughter is so lucky, and trust me when she is an old lady like i am -59, this month, she will always have such grand memories of spending time with a special gramma! keep those memories going. she was honestly one of my very few good childhood memories. she gave me many! RIP gramma waters-always remembered! xoxoxo
Hi Hippy, Thank you for your very sweet story about your Grandmother. I wish that I had a story to tell like that about my Grandmother. I didn't have that at all. We live in the same state and she had a load of Grandchildren but she did spend a lot of time with my oldest sister for her own special reasons. I never spent any alone time with her, not even for 30 minutes. She lived to be in her 90's and we never, ever spent any alone time together, even in my adulthood. So you are very blessed. My relationship with my Grandchildren will never be what I experienced. My granddaughter is my little bestie and I give her all of my time lol. Whatever you lacked in your childhood seems like your Grandmother made up for it. Thank God for her. I happy that you enjoyed the DIY and I have many, many more to bring to you all. As a father, and grandfather, myself, I think any man would be very pleased to receive such a beautiful box, not only because it is beautiful, but because it would be handmade from his children or grandchildren. For some reason, many people are under the old, false impression that real men do not desire, nor have appreciation for beautiful things, like this beauty, so thank you, Beverly, for remembering the fathers, this way! I think you made the best choice, with the head of David, too! What man wouldn't like to look like that sculpture, with a chiseled body like that? It's a pipe dream, for me!
