Dude, you're absolutely killing it with these Mother 3 remixes - seriously! I feel like I should know the song you referenced here (the UK version, I mean 😂), but I know of like 5 songs total that aren't from video game soundtracks, and Hot Cross Buns is probably one of them. But despite my nonexistent knowledge of non-VGM music, I really enjoyed this reimagining of a radical theme from a hugely underrated game.
I love the way you use those bent notes on the lead to give it lots of extra character and attitude. The notes slides and accents are great added details, and your music has really been incorporating a lot more of those subtle characteristics lately. Great work with the distortion guitars, providing that supporting drive, and I love how they play in unison sometimes (e.g., 1:08) but mostly independently of the melody. And those mean guitar slides, like at 2:17 - so dang cool! Which segues into the next thing I want to comment on...
...the arrangement! Holy smokes, man, this is such a well-done arrangement, and you've got layers of goodness in each of the parts - bassline, rhythm guitar, countermelody, lead melody, and of course those rock n' roll drums. The drums here are actually one of my favorite aspects, and it captures the feeling of Mother 3-style drumming perfectly, while being a perfect fit for the song. Also, this is over 4 minutes of unique music, and that _had_ to have taken awhile just to write out, if nothing else. The song flow is superb, and the use of different instrumentation throughout (like that sax part near the end) keeps the piece sounding varied and interesting.
This has got to be one of your best arrangements yet, Elite. Amazingly well done! :D
