Thanks Mazzy for giving Country Joe & the Fish the props they deserve. Those first two albums, in my estimation, were the pinnacle of Bay-area psychedelia. And even today, whenever I'm in need of a good flashback, they still deliver...with flying colors.

Martin Rushent.was a recording engineer at Advision in London. In 1976 he moved to United Artists where I was Head of A &R and when I signed The Stranglers I decided that Martin would be perfect to work with the band.First album charted at No.4 and he worked with them for several albums so when I signed Buzzcocks I didn't have to.look too far for a producer and that worked out pretty well also.Later Martin.had huge success with The Human League.Martin was great to work with and had a wonderful sense of humour.Martin
    is much missed .RIP

Right in the middle of Live at Leeds, my best friend Keith jumped off an air-filled vinyl loveseat that I received as a house warming gift. The "couch" upended and flipped over - taking Keith's pregnant g/f Julie for quite a ride. Everyone laughed - the summer of 1970 in Venice, Cal. was a hoot. Thanks, Mazzy !

Songs of Love and Hate. For me, Leonard Cohen's masterpiece. I even had an 8-Track tape of it. Played it until it wouldn't play anymore. And yes, he became fairly obscure for years until the end of his life, and then BOOM! He was playing to sell-out crowds and was a superstar. And from what you hear, a truly nice person.

I was looking at cheap albums today at the antique mall. That Leonard Cohen was there in very good shape. That is where I saw the Pablo record. The Rachel Sweet was also there. The first Country Joe and the Fish is the best. The 2nd is their next best. The 3rd is their 3rd best. They continued with that pattern.

You’re thinking of “Somewhere Out There” from “An American Tail.”
Linda Ronstadt performed that duet with James Ingram.
The album you chose is her collaboration with Aaron Neville. “Somewhere Out There” does not appear on that record.
    Love your channel, Mazzy!

The Linda Ronstadt song you're talking about is "Somewhere Out There" with the late JAMES INGRAM from the movie AN AMERICAN TAIL. It was not one of the Aaron Neville duets.
That Ronstadt album is actually pretty good. There are several good Jimmy Webb songs on it, including "Still Within the Sound of My Voice" and "Adios."

Fixin to Die Rag is Country Joe’s worst song. It’s a good song and the only one I knew for years. I think 90% of people only know that song. I got a record a couple years ago and it blew me away. I didn’t expect it to be that good
