....as a former NZ PR I can tell you that Romania with its continental temperate climate is more related to the NZ South Island...You canot grow kiwis, oranges or lemons in Romania :-) . The building technologies are very different compared to NZ...so your NZ renovating experience may not be as helpfull as in UK or Ireland or California.

    • @LatinSlav
      @LatinSlav ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@ISPRI2011 hey lucian ,i just want to point out as the climate is changing and is getting hotter, you can now grow kiwis in the southern plains of Romania, as many of my neighbors started doing, they are researching it in the Dabuleni reaserch facility , and they are testing many more ,like phistacios and banans. Also Europe just recently stared to grow bamboo, first in amsterdam, later in spain and italy and the italians also successfully planted bamboo in Romania and tested it at Agronomie university in Bucharest. Also Romania has the third biggest reserves in Europe of thermal water ,after Island and Italy , a mostly untapped resource here; But seeing how in 2022 the biggest Exporter of Bananas in Europe is the cold country of Island , romania may very well in the future grow bananas, kiwis, oranges and Lemons thanks to those rich reserves. The potential is here , we just need a little more implication of politicians and businessmen

Another nice video, glad to see your channel is growing fast.
Still some good deals on property to be had, although the villiage where I live (Bran region) the land is expensive (40€/m2).
We only have electricity and internet (very fast fibre into the house) to our house, sewerage is via a septic tank.
We heat on wood pellets which is a lot cheaper than gas, especially as its a big house.
I'm not on a main road but in the winter it regularly cleared, so no access problems.
If ever you are in the area I'd be happy to show you around.

As a Romanian myself - the reason these properties are cheap is because there are no jobs nearby. There are very few WFH opportunities and even so, their numbers are going down. it's nice but there's nothing around. at the opposite side of the spectrum , a house in a booming city where jobs are located ( cluj / bucuresti / iasi / etc ) will set you back several hundreds of thousands of pounds. That's why I came to UK , here for 103k GBP I bought a 3 bed house some 6 years ago, it's inside the city, everything is next to you ( shops , entertainment , food delivery , jobs ) I would have never been able to afford the equivalent in Romania, especially on Romanian wages. It's ridiculous. After 7 years living in Uk, I don't think I will ever return to Romania, regardless of what is offered. But this is as someone who didn't inherited anything, everything I have - I worked for, probably the folks that have their parents' house or living relatives in Romania there is some sort of incentive to go back- not the case for me.

Unfortunately there is literally an army of Hungarian Media/Trolls who have made their life mission to spread nonsense about Romania at least since newspapers began, and it got even worse with the internet. This is why there is so much negativity about Romanians in media. But over the last 10 years the tide is changing. So many people other than Hungarians are visiting and reporting on Romania, and younger Hungarians are also refusing to continue the nonsense, so I'm seeing far more positive information than negative lately.

@randomromania We usually get them from dedeman, the ones made by HS Timber Group. Now they have gone down in price this year, after the Ukraine war they almost doubled in price. We usually buy them in the summer to get a better price and we get like 4 tons for the whole winter. If we time the buy just right in the summer we can get them for as low as 15 lei for a 15kg package so 1 leu per kg, but probably 17 lei per package is an average. There are also cheaper alternative of locally sourced ones, but the quality can vary.

Hungarians have been bagging Romania for more than a 100 years because the feel Romania took over Transylvania from them. Wow what a bunch of HUNS with a history of blood and guts when Hannibal brought the ancestors of Hungary from Mongolia. Disgusting bunch crying over something which never belonged to them. Romanian people date back at least 4000 years with a language that even the Romans adopted and use to this day, Romania is a place where old culture gives its people strength and a sense of belonging. Now there is another false anti Romania propaganda. The Hungarians alway say the the Gipsies come from Romania. How ignorant of history can one be. Gipsies come from north India and the greatest population of gipsies today live in Albania, Hungary, England, and Bulgaria. Certainly there are Gipsies in Romania just like there are in NY, Russia, Israel, and all over the world however it’s really unfair to keep the bullcrap flowing about Romania. I have visited this country many time and even did business with the old regime before the change in 1988 and fount the integrity and honesty of the greater majority of the people was amazing, unlike trying to do business with Hungarians who lie and cheat at every opportunity. So my opinion of Romania is that for now it’s a fabulous country to visit or even to go and live😊

To buy a good property you need time and patience, this approach can save you a lot of money, not to mention we're probably about to have a market collapse. This house is a "conac", which means a little aristocratic manor. It is at least 100 years old and must have been really fine before communism. It has elements of the Brancovianu architecture style, which was in fashion among wealthy Romanians South of the Carpathians before WW1. But since all the aristocrats were expropriated or fled the country, those kind of houses were badly mistreated, sometimes used as sheep stable or whatever. And the former garden around it was also expropriated and given to local peasants who built some sheds there. So the view is not so great anymore as it used to be.

P.S.: everything is expensive that is in a reasonable distance to Bucarest to make a weekend holiday (they call it minivacanța). Bucarest is incredibly hot during the summer months and every Bucureștean with some money dreams to buy a house in the mountains, where the air is fresh and cool, to spend July and August there. So the județ Dâmbovița, Prahova and Brașov are their prefered choice. Sibiu is too far away, but as soon as the highway will be finished, they will also come here and buy all the nice rural houses.

Like our moderator says it is not illegal to buy land here, as a foreigner. Method 1. The method mentioned in many comments by the moderator in which you (the foreigner) set up a Romanian company and buy property through the Romanian company (it works even for people outside of the EU, example: I have made an arrangement for a Bucharest property for an Azerbaidjani citizen). Method 2. The second method you can own directly, under the Law 312 of 10 November 2005 provisions, less used, the drawback being that you can buy directly only if Romania "has a treaty with your citizenship country, based on reciprocity". Everyone just uses the first method. Congrats to the moderator for the work put in !!

So there’s going to be carnage as lots of folks won’t be able to afford the remortgage in order to stay in their homes. House prices have fallen in the last 6 months and there will be carnage in the year to come. I fully expect prices to fall by at least 25% 35% as a glut of properties flood the market. I expect prices will follow suit across Europe as economies groan following covid and with the continued Russian intervention in Ukraine. I good time to bugger off to Romania me thinks……?

10 eur/m2 is a bargain to buy land not only in Romania but also EU and the world.
In the west people get disconnected from gas and electricity and want to get off the grid with soaring energy prices. Bad reasoning to be willing to get on the grid.
I get a feeling that you are totally not realistic about Romania. It is a country in full development and therefore prices are increasing. Wait no longer or you can wait forever and won't be able to buy a thing.
In Cluj-Napoca the prices per m2 are above 100 euro. What are you talking about? Too expensive in Pitești near a lake for 25 eur/m2? Come on 😳. Are you serious?

@randomromania romania was better in 2001 then now , and my first comment was sarcastic 🙄, in fact romania is going down from 89 forward. We didn't need europe in 1990 nor in 2006 and especially not now , europe is doomed, we fought side by side with balcan states for the last 500 years against muslims , only now to be invaded legally by the same race . Our last president died in 89 everything what camed after are western politics impose with the help of traitor. We dont need europe or western citizens to settle in that country 😀 go , work if you like or visit , but always return to your roots . 😉
