I find a lot of value in these Q&As. Just hearing someone more experienced talking about their stances on some topics, or just sharing their experiences is just insightful.
    Thank you

Beautiful morning in Barcelona, with a good cup of coffee, and Jon just dropped a stream :) Life cannot get better than this.

    Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the video, Jon! I enjoy it! BTW, one of the reason why I enjoy and love it (and all others), especially "not so technical" ones like this is because of the language (your clean and clear pronounciation). Helps me not only learn Rust, but also increases my English listening skills! : ))

    Welcome back!
its great watching your streams again, every minute of the vod was extremely valuable.
(btw, i dont skip a single question during these Q&As), keep it up and i hope you have a great day.

As another B-type person I relate to the pain of having to wake up _way_ earlier than my body wants to. When my company started enforcing RTO I had to start working up at 7am to make it to work on time. The first month was probably the least productive of my entire career.

Some of your Crust of Rust would really benefit from some updates since they've become old. Primarily Async/Await videos. I feel like more could've been talked about there, like how would you build an executor, say. Not because that's what people want to do, but because async/await still feels somewhat magic without it.

I work in the security/cryptography space as a Rust engineer. The company is only a couple years younger than the v1.0 of Rust, and leadership is very happy with their choice to build the company with Rust. It's a perfect fit for the space.

What products do you build? Have been a software / security engineer for years and swapped to cloud engineering last year, kinda bored, and would love to what people are using rust for

53:05 I feel very similarly about CoPilot... I actually worry about the state of software development where the developer doesn't need to actually know the details of how the code he's writing works and it becoming a crutch. I can foresee a future where similar to how many Cashiers can't actually make change for a purchase in their head and just read what the computer says thanks to calculator being so readily available, software developers will be unable to write code from scratch without a constant jab from some AI tool telling you what your next step is and how to do it. In both cases, once you remove the tool, productivity then halts because the person loses the ability to work without the... crutch.
That said... "know thy enemy" right? so I've installed it and played around with it and as for now, it's mostly annoying. It interrupts my normal LSP suggestions and messes up auto imports and line endings and closed brackets... but it is good at one and only one thing, true boilerplate. It can go one step beyond a normal LSP in that it knows what you just wrote in some other file and will suggest related or similar things to what you just wrote, speeding up your ability to put type it out. Beyond that, I can count on one hand the amount of times it has suggested code that actually applied to what I was doing, worked without tweaking and accomplished what I was trying to accomplish. The auto completion of boilerplate is nice but fighting it when I want normal LSP autocompletion is annoying and makes it not worth it.

you might consider turning off auto-exposure since you have a static camera view - it adds some flickering and weird coloring

    >pay u in crypto cause i don’t believe it has value
i mean as long as u trust usdc u can immediately swap into it and get it sent to ur bank account thru a variety of off-ramps?
i’m probably biased bcuz work in web3 but that’s just a weird statement lmao, like you can sell it right now to your bank so by definition it has value 😢

2:09:10 I'm not sure this is related but on the global shortcuts thing I remembered a few months ago when Brodie Robertson switched to hyprland he made a video where he specifically mentioned that they worked really well with OBS in hyprland but he was initially unaware of it th-cam.com/video/23c0HVgxfrw/w-d-xo.htmlm22s
