    Great tie! I found that with those beads that the finish came off quite easily. Just a half hour of swinging and it looked like I had been dragging it over the rocks all day. And no, never tagged bottom once. Going to do another batch and coat the beads with Sally Hansen's to see if it helps with durability.

    hey just saw video going to tie few myself. I have only been tying for few months was wandering because never seen before what was the reason you ran your scissors down the shlappen for

      Thanks for cheing us out! To answer your question: running the scissors down the top side of the feather will fold the fibers back so they lay rearward as you wrap the feather. It won't matter as much on softer fibers, but if you're using saddle (stiffer feather) instead of schlappen, the collar will stick straight up, instead of facing rearward.

      @@theportlandflyshop thanks I just recently found you online but watched about 15 vids after this 1 I live on Vancouver Island so unlike most of the flies I see from great lake vids I see 2 or 3 I would tie every 25 vids I but your's is more like 22-23 so thanks still have more to go I'm sure you will be hearing from me again with dumb questions lol.

    With rabbit strip that long, would be curious to know how you rig your hooks to keep them from fouling in the rabbit strip.
