  • Matt spent the weekend in the Aston Martin DBX 707 Edition and drove an electric Shelby Cobra. Zack had a ‘90s day and drove a crazy Frankenstein Eclipse GSX and a 400HP 240SX. And we answer questions about whether or not the newest car makes the best track car; is buying a German super sedan a good use of $40k; keep or upgrade: Mazda 2 commuter edition; $500 watches; and more!

    TST Crewcast feat. Tommy Vercetti and Josh
    I have to say tho, these podcasts add to my favorite part of your vids, the intro (driver changes if it's a two take) and verdict while adding so much about the experience after it's simmered for a while in your head. So they definitely add to the takes, not replace them for me.
    As always, love a crewcast!

    Gotta love the 1 series. Decent all rounder, and the E82 has the potential for greatness with some light modification. HPAS, RWD, 6spd/DCT, functional yet clean interior (navless or facelift nav). As Zack mentioned, the size is a huge bonus, too.

      Great road cars, but I'd be hesitant to track one. As an HPDE instructor, I've seen nothing but problems with them when used for track days. Not so much the car itself, but the engine & mechanicals cause owners constant grief. Limp modes, fuel supply issues, turbo failures, multiple engine failures, etc. I've seen it all firsthand, and I'm a BMW owner.

    I love the podcast and I'm a enthusiast of that generation bmws but the N54 135 at 100k miles is tough age. Water pumps,, oil pan gasket, ofhg gasket,injectors, high pressure fuel pumps, even turbos at that mileage are notorious for failing. Hopefully you guys can get in and out without a major hiccup from those things. N55s are starting to have a lot of bearing failures.
    That said it's a pretty well documented platform. M3 arms, M3 rear sway, kw V3 coils, inlets, intercooler, MHD stage 1+ tune done. 4k in mods 15k in engine "maintenance "

    I loved the recent R34 video as well.
    Since you guys are going back and driving modern classics, I would love to see you guys revisit a 458 speciale. As a 991.2 GT3 owner ( right hand drive - I live in Scotland), I could for a bit more money switch to 458 speciale, but a left hand drive.

  • @kimcloud8995
    @kimcloud8995 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    IMO....AWD vs RWD rally technique...the science of going fast vs the art of going fast on loose surfaces. Both fun but AWD technique probably easier to grasp first as rotation is mostly braking modulated, more formulaic in how to slide around a corner. The BRZ is a much more willing dance partner once you are comfortable initiating rotation under braking and can mix in throttle to maintain the rotation through corners.
    Having done both classes I'd generally recommend AWD first if you think you will go back for the other one. I feel like RWD has a steeper more frustrating learning curve but a greater sense of satisfaction once you "get it". The STIs were faster though if speed is your thing.

    What I don't understand , is how a modern Cobra replica - with decent suspension parts and brakes and good adjustment - couldn't easily outrun any SUV on those canyon roads , regardless of the power the SUV engine makes .
    A mid-range Caterham certainly could .
    Granted, beyond 100mph or so aero might become a factor , but at that point it's not exactly a 'canyon road' you're on ;) .

      They’d certainly be an upgrade over vintage brakes, but in a 600hp car it’s very possible that the pad compound and fluids aren’t as capable as StopTech, Brembo, AP Racing, Akebono, Baer, Hawk, or EBC. Stopping a cool muscle car is different than a true performance car.
