    Great vidio. I found with my settings that when you have your return to home speed high around 15.000 it flies much smoother back to home. Like you said in the video its only use it for emergency. The landing is definitely not as smooth with the higher speed but I just don't let it finish the landing. Where I fly the wind can be quite strong.

      That's the real idea, unless you have a spectacular tx explosion!

    hello dear, great video! two questions from my side:
    1) by using DJI controller2, if you lost the video signal, Betaflight activate the GPS rescue, or the O3 Air Unit prevails and disarms the engines
    2) when the drone is back, is possible to take the control back by just moving the sticks or is necessary to configure some swithc? thanks

    When updating betaflight on my Nazgul Evoque v2 to perserve pid settings i just need to copy and paste CLI variables after update?
    I wonder why iflight warns so much against updating betaflight firmwire if its that simple??

  • @mil-fpv4931
    @mil-fpv4931 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice to see its working. Just set it up and was wondering where to set the ground speed etc. Going to try yours having the same drone. Im used to ardupilot and it sure is precise and was little hesitating to try how betaflight has managed to make it work. DId you just estimate the hover throttle or measured it?
    Liked and subbed.

  • @Photonees
    @Photonees ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Whould you mind sharing your 4.4 config? I do wonder if there is a difference with the F5D.But dont think so or make a video on how to update it to 4.4?

    • @nozzlewizard
      @nozzlewizard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not much of a difference - the stock tunes look the same. Mine is slightly tweaked, but it is so well tuned as standard, it didn't need much. The best way? Take a screen shot of the sliders and config from your current betaflight, and use them for reference in deploying v4.4. Always take a full nackup from your working setup first!
      If you get stuck, just shout, and I am sure we can sort something out together. :)

  • @afterburnerrc6333
    @afterburnerrc6333 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video! My GPS has a compass built in, is this a problem if BF does not use it or can it be turned off? Thanks!

    • @nozzlewizard
      @nozzlewizard  ปีที่แล้ว

      I now have a bn-880 fitted which has a compass, but is won't talk to the f7 FC. I do t think the compass will interfere as from reading the GitHub pages, GPS rescue uses flight data only along with the accelerometer (yaw) to determine position and heading.

  • @avsaase
    @avsaase ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Does your flight controller have a barometer? The heading and position control are obviously affected by the lack of a compass but with a barometer is should be able to fairly accurately control the altitude. In your second flight there was a weird jump during the descent.

    • @nozzlewizard
      @nozzlewizard  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a barometer yes. Not sure what happened, just had a bit of a blunder. :D

  • @sickshots
    @sickshots ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did you use your Pids and Filter Settings from original tune?

    • @nozzlewizard
      @nozzlewizard  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I've had a fiddle with filters and pids after gathering some blackbox data. Hardly a flutter now and very responsive. Very pleased.

  • @TechnicallyTom
    @TechnicallyTom ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you have barometer? I tested on RC5 and my second landing was really close to the take off point. I think it becomes more accurate one you have had a fix for awhile and that persists across power cycles as long as you are in same location. Mine seemed to handle altitude better when descending to land.

    • @nozzlewizard
      @nozzlewizard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I have

    • @nozzlewizard
      @nozzlewizard  ปีที่แล้ว

      The barometer helps for sure, but I more agree with the fact that more sats - more accurate height and position.

    • @TechnicallyTom
      @TechnicallyTom ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nozzlewizard I had one quad where the flight controller didn’t have barometer. GPS is horrible for altitude. The amount of drift you get on GPS is even worse for altitude. I ended up buying a barometer/compass board that connects through I2C (FlyWoo). This greatly improves the altitude consistency. GPS is better at getting an estimate above sea level but drifts. Barometer doesn’t drift but changes based on temperature and weather. The two readings can be used to cancel out some of the shortcomings each has. For a flight that will last for about 8 to 10 minutes at most, it’s not likely the weather will change abruptly.

    Hi can I just ask are you just turning the tx off or using a switch to use rescue mode?

    • @nozzlewizard
      @nozzlewizard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On this, using a switch. I have since turned off the radio with the same result. Prefer not to do that often though as I would like to maintain control of my drone at all times outside of an emergency.

    1:50 Good video but... not really cool to test new feature with Googles off and with "no idea where it is" :) Don't trust this feature that much especially with spinning propellers without guards that may hurt someone if the drone will fly in wrong direction.

      His property is bordering a completely empty field. And of course he knew where it was, in the completely empty field behind his house. Your point may be valid in some situations. But in this case it just makes you sound silly.

      Nothing to worry about. My hand was on the kill switch, and I could see and hear the drone. No other humans within a mile. No cars, roads, or people flown over. Spotter also behind the camera (camera shy). Inrpomise there was no risk taken here and I covered off safety to the best of my ability.

      @@nozzlewizard I checked the video one more time. You are right with this empty field. I was just triggered by you saying 'googles off, I have no idea where it is, I can't hear it'. Good that you had spotter. I take back my word that it wasn't cool :)

    turn off your auto temp control and you wont lose signal as fast

    • @nozzlewizard
      @nozzlewizard  ปีที่แล้ว

      For the O3? It doesn't loose signal any sooner or later, but it does keep the unarmed transmission power high, so only affects the drone when the arm switch is disarmed or armed. For loosing signal faster, setting the idle power down (auto temp control) doesn't make a difference unfortunately. A good thought though!
