Not long after I got saved I was attending a Brethren Assemble. One of the elders picked me up for the meeting every Sunday evening and every Wednesday evening for Bible study. He was for ever hinting I should not be working Sundays. I was a nurse and at the time I was on call 24/7 to help elderly people if they became sick, I still think a very worthwhile job for a Christian. One evening he suddenly told me I should not be working on Sundays. Had I been a little more mature I would have told him Jesus asked the pharisees. "Is it lawful to heal the sick on the Sabbath?"
Your job is a necessity, you are not sinning by taking of the sick on a Sunday, your elder needs to understand that, explain it to him and he should understand.
"Which one of you will have a son or an ox fall into a well, and will not immediately pull him out on a Sabbath day?" I'm thankful for nurses who work from their hearts!
I’m getting chills. So many Christians can get caught up in Theology that they forget thee most important part of scripture, which is THE GOSPEL. So many Christians forget the a relationship with Jesus Christ is a journey and just because they are at a more mature level with Christ... doesn’t mean they need to judge others who are just starting out. Example: just like in fitness. When I started working on my fitness journey. My understanding of diet and exercise was very limited. But, as a grew in the knowledge of living healthy... i then was able to become more fit and lose/keep 20lbs off. But, I shouldn’t look at someone who is not as healthy as me and judge them because they are not at my “fitness” level. It’s a journey, folks!
That’s funny, I thought of the fitness example right before I read what you wrote. I started fitness at 11 years old and by high school I was way ahead of all the other guys who were just starting out. I didn’t judge them though and say “Look how skinny or out of shape you are” instead I would go over to their rack and help them maybe load the plates on the bar or spot them in case they failed the lift. Sometimes they’d ask me for advice and I’d politely tell them. Other times if I saw them doing something wrong I would politely drop a little piece of advice, rarely though, because I knew that advising them too often on what to do would get annoying (plus that’s the coach’s job to train them even though I knew what I was doing). You’re right, we should look at being the more mature Christian the same way.
You are correct when you say it is a journey, my friend. For it is a journey. But I have a few questions for you: How does any Christian learn to eat solid food (Hebrews 5:12-14) if they are constantly told by the "non-judgemental" pastors that milk is all they need? How can any Christian follow Christ and not follow the way of Christ (the perfect submission to God's Law)? How can anybody say "I love God" and with same breath say "the Law of God does not apply to me"? How does that work?

When you are born again, the holy spirit will lead you and there are many things you will not do and many things you will do. You will for sure come out from the world and be separate.... I was a homosexual, drug addict, thief and liar... The Lord Jesus Christ delivered me from all of those things. He said the people who practice these things will not inherit the kingdom of heaven, so after I was born again, the holy spirit took those sins away. He doesn't save us in our sins, he saves us from them. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ. I love Him and obey Him.

I just keep listening to his sermons over and over and over. I as a musician attend a lot of churches due to invites to minister. I have yet to hear this kind of solid biblical preaching . I have witness a lot of pomp and circumstance. I have such a greater thirst for the Word of God listening to this man of God:)

Religion makes me nervous. I am so thankful for exclusive salvation in Christ alone! I also am thankful for the word of God to guide me as it is rightly divided. And I am so very thankful for the freedom and liberty in Christ. I would dare say Jesus or Paul would not even be used in pulpits in most churches in our land. In fact what is Bible study? It is learning who I should be in Christ - and that doesn't happen over night. We properly direct faith toward the object of the work and person of Christ. Then we start getting it together mentally.
I've been struggling with this lately. I feel like I've been living like legalistic person. Thinking if you celebrate holidays because it's pagan, not wearing a cross because it's pagan, going to Church is bad, listeneing to worship music etc. I can't believe there is so much division through the Body of Christ. I just want to love the Body and not cause division because of the things I believed. I could really use prayers. I don't want to be legalistic or modern day pharisee.

I mean this is incredible. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve met and those I’ve seen on TH-cam pushing suit and ties for men every Sunday, and if you don’t wear it, then it shows how little you love Jesus. Scripture makes no mention of how attire reflects our love for God. Yes our love for God will influence how we carry ourselves and how we live and dress, but that may not look like a suit and tie to church, it could look like a button up and jeans (what i wear to church) or maybe a t shirt and jeans. So long as the person is right with the Lord and is dressing modestly, i have no issue with what they look like. I am a Christian metalhead if you will and i have attended well over 20 concerts in my 23 years of life, and I’ve met true believers who love Christ who have more tattoos than anyone i know, but i can see how much they love Him.
Christ frees from all sin HALLELUJAH!!! for nineteen years, I had been going to church, and I had believed I was a Christian. I had believed the powerless gospel of the world, and I WAS A PHARISEE. My damnation would have been great, had I continued on in sin and professed Christianity (I had even been baptized!!! However, I had not been repentant, and I had not believed, so it was just a dunk in the drink.). But THANKS BE TO GOD, who sanctifies the wicked criminal! But two months ago, the Lord sent one of His servants to give me the choice: Turn, or Burn. PRAISE THE LORD, who saved me from my own false teaching!!! Now, by His grace, and by the power of His Spirit, I pray that others will see my story and repent. SO many are deceived and deceiving as I was, and by His power, others who are deceived and are walking the wide path will turn and repent for the GLORY OF GOD!!!
@jonathan. I went to church, and was very legalistic about some things. I judged homosexuals, murderers, thieves, and drug users, when I myself practiced fornication, idolatry, and foul language, and was no better off. But when I got saved, I understood that Christ frees from sin, not because of what I can do, but because of what HE DID. Honestly, if you want to talk more about it, I would love to share.

The Pharisees did good works yet when Jesus Christ came to them they didn’t recognize him cause they didn’t believe that he was the son of God they were self righteous blind yet they judged others telling them to follow all the 10 commandments while not following it themselves and if anyone breaks one of the commandments they get send yo hell that’s why Jesus Christ died for our sins cause following the 10 commandments is impossible only he did it so we are all under Grace it’s free. A person like what he described would no be welcomed in the church I used to attend, and that's a shame. Ray Comfort said the used to believe in evolution even after he got saved, then he began to read the Bible where he learned about God creating everything, and he stopped believing in evolution, the Holy Spirit does the work, the word shows the way, who are we to judge? Some of the best dressed, church attending people are the worst sinners, they look good though.

He also implies that bracelets for guys is a sign that they are worldly. The fact that he would imply that it's sinful to live with your girlfriend is legalistic since it is not inherently sinful in the bible. That is, if legalism is making laws that aren't there, of course. He is not preaching the Bible he is preaching his view of right and wrong, which may have some merit, but is still legalistic.
@@007amy-n1b The laws were far different in the old testament. It says don't wear clothing with more than 2 types of material in them as well... Totally different times back then and far stricter were God's rules on Israel than they are to Christians, since He fulfilled the law for us. So I don't think the old testament is a good place to go for information on how we should dress. This matter is more of a concern about traditionalism versus law. God speaks to everybody differently, and while you or other people might think its 'worldly' to dress a certain way, its not innately sinful or worldly. Personally I think its kind of self righteous to think your belief is right and then insinuate that God will tell you eventually to be like you because you are right. We are supposed to live in harmony even if we have different standards for ourselves. I appreciate the grace in your words, but with all due respect, people like you are the reason why there are 1000s of different denominations: Making big deals over small things.
I once belonged to a congregation where a man came to Christ and wanted to be baptized but he was a dealer at a casino. He was told that he had to quit his job before he could be baptized. Is that biblical? Can you imagine the background checks that would have been required in Acts 2? We cannot saddle people with moral code but allow them to grown under the yoke that is easy and the burden that is light...Jesus Christ.
***** Ephesians 4:28 makes it clear that there are restrictions on what jobs Christians can take. We are to work with our own hands on "that which is good". Gambling does not fit the bill. When someone with a wicked job joined the early church, the congregations supported him and helped him find respectable work. To work in a casino is to stumble the weak and is worse than having a millstone around your neck and be thrown into the deepest sea.
There is an example among the early Christians about an actor who wanted to be baptized. The church's response was to instruct him to leave his occupation, and the churches would support him until he could find appropriate employment. How many churches would do this today?

We are all unworthy of the grace of God. I’ve been the Pharisee before, I’ve been like the kid not knowing much about the word, mistaken on certain doctrines but having a simple faith in Christ as Lord and Savior. I think what is important is recognizing that if someone is mistaken on an important biblical topic, to not get puffed up but to share with them the truth. For me I believed in some very questionable things when I first was granted saving faith. Modalism, tongues, evolution, semi-pelagianism, at times I would even think I wasn’t bad enough for hell, but over time through studying the Word I began to be sanctified in my beliefs. I think it’s important to view every believer in this way, to correct them in their beliefs lovingly and gently, but also to trust that the Holy Spirit will sanctify them if their faith is genuine, and that the Fathers will is perfect and trustworthy no matter what.
Paul Washer is arguably the most influential Christian truther out there, he is a straight shooter and does not give a damn what anyone thinks about what he preaches. Why can't we have more pastors like him that drive home the truth of Christ.

As for 1:35 - 2:35, you highlight a point about not stifling the enthusiasm of people getting into the Word of God. After all, isn't this what it is all about? This is the first step of transformation. I have a friend or two who for lack of a better term are "a little less put together", and one of them rebuked me for something. Just like an adult taking a rebuke from a child, it's hard sometimes to take a rebuke from someone you perceive as "lower status", but then status is a worldly concept anyway.

It goes much deeper than that. Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone that saith unto me Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father, who is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name cast out demons? And in thy name done many wonderful works? Then will I profess unto them, I never knew you, depart from me ye that worketh iniquity. Why were these seemingly good people who did many wonderful works not saved? Two reasons, In the first verse Jesus said they never did the will of His Father. What is the will of His Father? John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that all that seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have eternal life, and I will raise Him up on the last day. They trusted In their own works and their own righteousness to earn heaven by their own merit. Romans 11:6 We can only be saved by grace, not works. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, and we all sin, but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. You can not add law/works to grace, or it is no more grace. Those that trust in what they do instead of the all sufficiency of Jesus blood atonement for all our sin forever, are not saved. We all deserve to go to hell. Roman 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. So we either accept Jesus full payment for all our sin, or we believe we can save our selves by how we live and what we do. But those who do not believe Jesus paid for all our sins are not saved. Five words that mean grace. Christ died for our sins. And that is the only way we can be saved is by faith alone in Christ alone and we have nothing to boast in because we did nothing for it. Ephesians 2:8-9 Those that are trusting in their own works and self righteousness are not saved. We have to be as righteous as God to be saved. Romans 4:6-8 When we trust Jesus as our savior, he imputes His righteousness to us through the Holy Spirit and will no more impute sin to our account. All our sins are paid for forever, past, present, and future sins. They are all washed away by the blood of the Lamb. John 3:18 We can no longer be condemned. John 6:47 verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath eternal life. Those that trust in what thy do trying to earn haven by keeping the law and doing good works are not saved. Only those that believe Romans 11:6 It is all grace, not works. You can not add one thing to what Jesus has already done, or it is no longer grace and we are not saved. Our works can not be added to what Jesus has already done. That is blasphemy. We can not add works to be saved, or after we are saved. Or salvation is no longer a free gift, and those that do not accept it as a free gift are not saved. We have to do nothing but accept Jesus full payment for all our sins forever. Then He will give us eternal life. Since all our sin debt has been paid in full, when Jesus said it is finished, we have no sins to pay for and can not go to hell based on what HE did not on what we do. What if you live in sin all next week? Paid. Are their any sins Jesus did not pay for? No. He paid for all sin for everyone in the whole world, so any one could believe and be saved. When we believe it we have eternal life because of what He did, not on any thing we do or do not do.
I agree with you on that,but I think you should've included that a person should not just go and sin because he thinks he has a get put of jail free card with God's grace. John G. Paton was a missionary who evangelised a violent island where everyone, both men and woman, wear little to no clothing. In his book, The Story of John G. Paton or Thirty Years Among South Sea Cannibals, John G. Paton records this incident about a native man and woman who became Christians and then wanted to marry but feared they would be killed because there were a few men who wanted to marry the woman:
"In a few seconds, Yakin entered and if Nelwang’s bearing and appearance were rather inconsistent with the feeling of worship (he was wearing a shirt, kilt and tommahawk, John G. Paton felt it inappropriate to wear an emblem of violence to church)- and what on earth was I to do when the figure and costume of Yakin began to reveal itself marching in? The first visible difference betwixt a Heathen and a Christian is that the Christian wears some clothing, the Heathen wears none. Yakin had determined to show the extent of her Christianity by the amount of clothing she could carry upon her person. Being a Chief’s widow before she became Nelwang’s bride, she had some idea of state occasions and appeared dressed in every article of European apparel, mostly portions of male attire, that she could beg or borrow from about the premises! Her bridal gown was a man’s drab-coloured great-coat, put on above her native grass skirts and sweeping down to her heels, buttoned tight. Over this she had hung on a vest and above that, again, most amazing of all, she had superinduced a pair of men's trousers, planting the body of them on her neck and shoulders and leaving her head and face looking out from between the legs - a leg from either side streaming over her bosom, arid, dangling down absurdly in front! She seemed to be a moving monster-loaded with a mass of rags. The day was excessively hot, and the perspiration poured over her face in streams. She, too, sat as near to me as she could get on the woman’s side of the church. Nelwang looked at me and then at her smiling quietly, as if to say, “You never saw in all your white world, a bride so grandly dressed!” I little thought what I was bringing on myself when I urged them to come to church. The sight of that poor creature sweltering before me constrained me for once to make the service very short - perhaps the shortest I ever conducted in all my life! The day ended in peace. The two souls were extremely happy, and I praised God that what might have been a scene of bloodshed had closed thus, even though it were in a kind of wild grotesquerie!"

Paul washer could you please be my preacher again because several churches have uninvited me I thought about having church in my own house because people in my area are tried of a watered down gospel around here I think I probably should start a church at my house so people can hear the truth but I'm not sure if I'm ready yet.
Once and for all, If Saved, you are born again, and not by works but by faith you are saved, the evidence of that is a repentant heart and changed, as John the baptist layed claim, REPENT & be BAPTIZED, not just baptized....
Legalism isn't about the commandments of God but about uninspired and man-made rules, that can often get in the way of the commandments of God. God says "The Sabbath is the seventh day of the Lord, on it you shall do no (secular) work." The legalist says: "healing and deliverance from demons must never be done on Sabbath, a paralyzed man is forbidden to pick up his mat and walk on Sabbath." When Jesus asked? "Which is lawful, to save life or to take life?" he was really saying "You hypocrites going on at me for healing, yet you yourselves are plotting my demise as we speak! That's illegal any day of the week!" This is an important distinction, because sometimes God will get very detailed about sin and obedience - from the clothes we wear, the food we eat, to the music we listen to and TV/TH-cam we watch, how much time we spend in bed, how much we spend on hobbies, how much time we spend sharing the gospel, even what we think about all come under God's magnifying glass and scalpel. But really, the root problem with legalism is pride, and the appearance of righteousness. South Park, crude as it is - did a parody of this with a load of Toyota "Pious" drivers. You can see the attitude - this negative stench of smugness - in fictional characters - to the grandmother in "Flowers In The Attic" to the woman buried deep in her Bible in "The Square Root Of Two". All this is just as carnal as sex, drugs, fast cars and food binges. Although these types of sinners aren't as fashionable today as the drunkards and sexually immoral, whereas then - things like fornication, both heterosexual and homosexual were frowned upon - just like sexism against men is now more fashionable than sexism against women, and racism against white people more fashionable than racism against black. Although it does seem like virtue signaling is making a re-occurrence. It's all sin, and one camp accuses the true Christian of being from either camp. The "Holier than thou" camp accuse the true Christian of being permissive of immorality "Jesus eats with tax collectors and sinners" The opposite camp accuses the true Christian of being the "holier than thou" group "You are a homophobic. Don't judge!"
The irony is Paul would later examine the waiter's fruits and decide if he was truly saved or not, he is the legalistic Pharisee, he just can't see it.

I agree, he loves God and he himself is going through changes becoming more Christ like, so have I since I first heard his message long time ago, as I am older I discern when someone is a brand new babe, they need to be taught with love at their own pace the right way, and that work is by the spirit vs. the one that is dead in their sins and believe themselves to be holy and in right standing before God.

The history of the church is constantly under renovation, as some see "liberal theology" seeping in. It becomes a green light for legalists to start a new denomination or throw out those who love the Lord. So many misinterpret COL 2:16 to invalidate the sabbath commandment which gets more exposure in the 4 gospel accounts than all the other 9 put together. Christians generally set aside Sundays (1 of 7 days in the week) to stop work and dedicate time to the LORD. The Bible doesn't actually teach that we are to meet on the seventh day of the week (Saturday). Rather, it teaches that we are to meet every seventh day, without the qualification of a particular starting point. The Hebrew Old Testament normally uses the unqualified phrase "the seventh day" to refer to days which were not the seventh day of the month, and which could not possibly have fallen on the same day of the week from year to year (e.g. Exod. 12:15,16; 13:6; Lev. 23:6-8; 13:5,6,27,32,34,51; 14:9,39; Num. 6:9; 7:1-48; 19:12,19; 28:17-25; 31:19,24; Deut. 16:1-8; Josh. 6:4,15; Judg. 14:12-18; 2 Sam. 12:18; 1 Kgs. 20:29; Est. 1:10). These uses of the phrase (by far the majority of its uses in the Old Testament) appear simply to mean "seven days later." Moreover, there were some Sabbaths that were not on the seventh day (e.g. Lev. 23:27 & 32-39) Similarly, in Exodus 16 where God commanded the Israelites to observe the Sabbath in the wilderness, he indicated which day would be the Sabbath not by referring to days of the week, but by telling them to count the days on which they received manna (Exod. 16:4-5,22-23). The Bible does not say that they began to receive manna on the first day of the week, but marks the time from "the fifteenth day of the second month after their departure from Egypt" (Exod. 16:1). We do not possess an ancient Hebrew calendar, and we do not know on which day the Sabbath fell in the wilderness. In fact, it is entirely possible that the Hebrews did not determine which day the Sabbath was by looking at the calendar to find the seventh day of the week, but instead determined the seventh day of the week by first determining when the Sabbath was. Assessing all the occurences of "seventh day" in the Old Testament, and looking at the institution of the Sabbath, it seems that the Old Testament does not clearly teach that the Sabbath is to be observed on the seventh day of the week -- or at least that the calendar week is not to be used to determine which day is the seventh. In the New Testament, the Jews celebrated the Sabbath on what was generally recognized as the seventh day of the week (Matt. 28:1; Mark. 16:1-2; Luke 23:56-24:1), and Jesus recognized their choice of days (e.g. Matt. 12:1-13; Luke 13:14-16). However, neither Jesus nor any other New Testament writer indicated that the Sabbath day always had to fall on the seventh day of the week as determined by any regular calendar. Based on this thinking, the New Testament church, under the guidance of the Apostles, apparently felt the freedom to change the day of observance relative to the secular calendar. They still maintained the commanded six-day-plus-one pattern, but shifted their Sabbath observance to the first day of the week relative to the secular calendar. They chose this day most probably because it was the day on which Jesus had been raised from the dead (Matt. 28:1; Mark 16:2; Luke 25:1; John 20:1). The risen Lord also chose the first day of the week on which to manifest himself to his disciples when they were gathered together (John 20:19,26). In any event, it seems that the first day of the week probably came to be known as the "Lord's Day" (Rev. 1:10), and seems to have been the day on which the church gathered with the approval of the Apostles (Acts 20:7). There does not appear to be any evidence in the New Testament that the early church felt compelled to observe the seventh day of the week as the Sabbath, and there is some possible evidence that Paul taught that Christians were not obligated to observe that particular day (Col. 2:16). In conclusion, the practice of Sunday observance is based first on the understanding that the Bible does not command observance on the seventh day of the calendar week, and second on church tradition established under the approval of the Apostles.

Are we laying 'heavy burdens and grievous to be born' by holding to the clear command of the word of God? I believe since I'm saved by grace I ought not to live in disgrace, it means very little to me to give up worldly things that won't help me, won't help me win souls, won't help me overcome and forsake sin, won't help me live by faith. When I got saved I was given the spirit of the Lord, He allowed me to overcome my rebelliousness and be able to be taught, I didn't right away believe or understand why certain things were wrong, why dress and modesty was important in the life of a Christian, see I was ignorant, a milk christian, but I was not a rebel and by the Spirit of Christ and His tender mercies I grew in the Lord, I never did try to 'Christianize' the heathen elements of my life, rather, as commanded by scripture, I separated from them, I reproved them. All modern bible versions are corrupt. Because they don't have 'thee', 'thou' and 'thine'? NO! Because THEY ARE CORRUPT TEXTS WRITTEN AT THE DEVIL'S HAND BASED ON CONTRADICTORY CORRUPTED CATHOLIC TEXTS, WRITTEN BY UNIVERSALISTS, LESBIANS AND INFIDELS!!! Is this a light matter? Faith in Christ IS obeying Him! Being a faithful servant and doing what He says is NOT the dead works of man and it is NECESSARY! Read James chapter 2. Faith without works is DEAD and it CANNOT save you. If you truly believe in Jesus, you will be FAITHFUL and OBEY Him. If you don't follow Him, He will not force you to go to Heaven. In Romans 11:20 Paul speaks of people being broken off due to unbelief. If you look at the Greek and Hebrew meanings of the words in the Bible, they can be different from what we may originally think. The word used for "unbelief" means faithlessness and unfaithfulness, or disobedience. When I checked the definition in e-Sword, the word "disobedience" was specifically used. Faith without obedience is not saving faith, it is dead faith. Just as our own righteousness without Jesus is dead works. We MUST obey God or we do not have faith. God bless.

pjcoop well sexual sin is condemned by God. It should be condemning because romans 8:3 says that God condemned sin in the flesh. By the way the word condemned means damned, meaning to damn to hell; it has nothing to do with a feeling or a tone of voice but it has to do with a sentencing of something (sin) or someone (sinner) to eternal damnation in hell.
Youre not saved by works. But sexual immorality is wrong and should be avoided. Actively seek to stop yourself from doing these things knowing Christ will deliver you and you will be delivered.

The phony accusation of legalism is used many times by people who don't truly know Christ and therefore don't want to surrender to Him as Lord though they call Him Lord and claim Him as savior. However, legalism is a reality in the church today. Legalist are people who exalt activities, traditions, or routines over a relationship with God where the heart grows in affection and adoration for who God is and the will becomes inclined to do Gods will.
Amelia Montoya Amelia, belief or faith is enough, we are saved by grace through faith and not by works. No works at all, just faith. However, faith that is actual real saving faith always produces obedience and good works. Each person who God saves is in a sanctification process where a visible holiness begins to be formed, not instantaneously but little by little and goes on until the day we are with Christ. To be sure there will be a change in the life of a person who has been saved, like growing in holiness and growing in obedience but they are not saved because they do these things, they do these things because they are saved. So when you or myself encounter a person who is not as mature as us we offer them grace and mercy first and give them a chance, not judge them before we've had the opportunity to speak to them. The clincher is this: that there is NO ONE EVER that will ever walk with Christ perfectly. The difference is whether or not you care, not whether or not you do it perfectly. Not long after I got saved I was attending a Brethren Assemble. One of the elders picked me up for the meeting every Sunday evening and every Wednesday evening for Bible study. He was for ever hinting I should not be working Sundays. I was a nurse and at the time I was on call 24/7 to help elderly people if they became sick, I still think a very worthwhile job for a Christian. One evening he suddenly told me I should not be working on Sundays. Had I been a little more mature I would have told him Jesus asked the pharisees. "Is it lawful to heal the sick on the Sabbath?"
Your job is a necessity, you are not sinning by taking of the sick on a Sunday, your elder needs to understand that, explain it to him and he should understand.

So many Christians can get caught up in Theology that they forget thee most important part of scripture, which is THE GOSPEL.
So many Christians forget the a relationship with Jesus Christ is a journey and just because they are at a more mature level with Christ... doesn’t mean they need to judge others who are just starting out.
Example: just like in fitness. When I started working on my fitness journey. My understanding of diet and exercise was very limited. But, as a grew in the knowledge of living healthy... i then was able to become more fit and lose/keep 20lbs off. But, I shouldn’t look at someone who is not as healthy as me and judge them because they are not at my “fitness” level. It’s a journey, folks!

That’s funny, I thought of the fitness example right before I read what you wrote. I started fitness at 11 years old and by high school I was way ahead of all the other guys who were just starting out. I didn’t judge them though and say “Look how skinny or out of shape you are” instead I would go over to their rack and help them maybe load the plates on the bar or spot them in case they failed the lift. Sometimes they’d ask me for advice and I’d politely tell them. Other times if I saw them doing something wrong I would politely drop a little piece of advice, rarely though, because I knew that advising them too often on what to do would get annoying (plus that’s the coach’s job to train them even though I knew what I was doing). You’re right, we should look at being the more mature Christian the same way.
You are correct when you say it is a journey, my friend. For it is a journey. But I have a few questions for you: How does any Christian learn to eat solid food (Hebrews 5:12-14) if they are constantly told by the "non-judgemental" pastors that milk is all they need? How can any Christian follow Christ and not follow the way of Christ (the perfect submission to God's Law)? How can anybody say "I love God" and with same breath say "the Law of God does not apply to me"? How does that work?

When you are born again, the holy spirit will lead you and there are many things you will not do and many things you will do. You will for sure come out from the world and be separate.... I was a homosexual, drug addict, thief and liar... The Lord Jesus Christ delivered me from all of those things. He said the people who practice these things will not inherit the kingdom of heaven, so after I was born again, the holy spirit took those sins away. He doesn't save us in our sins, he saves us from them. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ. I love Him and obey Him.

Religion makes me nervous. I am so thankful for exclusive salvation in Christ alone! I also am thankful for the word of God to guide me as it is rightly divided. And I am so very thankful for the freedom and liberty in Christ.
I would dare say Jesus or Paul would not even be used in pulpits in most churches in our land.
In fact what is Bible study? It is learning who I should be in Christ - and that doesn't happen over night. We properly direct faith toward the object of the work and person of Christ. Then we start getting it together mentally.
I've been struggling with this lately.
I feel like I've been living like legalistic person. Thinking if you celebrate holidays because it's pagan, not wearing a cross because it's pagan, going to Church is bad, listeneing to worship music etc.
I can't believe there is so much division through the Body of Christ. I just want to love the Body and not cause division because of the things I believed.
I could really use prayers. I don't want to be legalistic or modern day pharisee.

I mean this is incredible. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve met and those I’ve seen on TH-cam pushing suit and ties for men every Sunday, and if you don’t wear it, then it shows how little you love Jesus.
Scripture makes no mention of how attire reflects our love for God. Yes our love for God will influence how we carry ourselves and how we live and dress, but that may not look like a suit and tie to church, it could look like a button up and jeans (what i wear to church) or maybe a t shirt and jeans. So long as the person is right with the Lord and is dressing modestly, i have no issue with what they look like.
I am a Christian metalhead if you will and i have attended well over 20 concerts in my 23 years of life, and I’ve met true believers who love Christ who have more tattoos than anyone i know, but i can see how much they love Him.

Christ frees from all sin HALLELUJAH!!! for nineteen years, I had been going to church, and I had believed I was a Christian. I had believed the powerless gospel of the world, and I WAS A PHARISEE. My damnation would have been great, had I continued on in sin and professed Christianity (I had even been baptized!!! However, I had not been repentant, and I had not believed, so it was just a dunk in the drink.). But THANKS BE TO GOD, who sanctifies the wicked criminal! But two months ago, the Lord sent one of His servants to give me the choice: Turn, or Burn. PRAISE THE LORD, who saved me from my own false teaching!!! Now, by His grace, and by the power of His Spirit, I pray that others will see my story and repent. SO many are deceived and deceiving as I was, and by His power, others who are deceived and are walking the wide path will turn and repent for the GLORY OF GOD!!!
@jonathan. I went to church, and was very legalistic about some things. I judged homosexuals, murderers, thieves, and drug users, when I myself practiced fornication, idolatry, and foul language, and was no better off. But when I got saved, I understood that Christ frees from sin, not because of what I can do, but because of what HE DID. Honestly, if you want to talk more about it, I would love to share.

A person like what he described would no be welcomed in the church I used to attend, and that's a shame. Ray Comfort said the used to believe in evolution even after he got saved, then he began to read the Bible where he learned about God creating everything, and he stopped believing in evolution, the Holy Spirit does the work, the word shows the way, who are we to judge? Some of the best dressed, church attending people are the worst sinners, they look good though.

@@007amy-n1b The laws were far different in the old testament. It says don't wear clothing with more than 2 types of material in them as well... Totally different times back then and far stricter were God's rules on Israel than they are to Christians, since He fulfilled the law for us. So I don't think the old testament is a good place to go for information on how we should dress.
This matter is more of a concern about traditionalism versus law. God speaks to everybody differently, and while you or other people might think its 'worldly' to dress a certain way, its not innately sinful or worldly.
Personally I think its kind of self righteous to think your belief is right and then insinuate that God will tell you eventually to be like you because you are right. We are supposed to live in harmony even if we have different standards for ourselves.
I appreciate the grace in your words, but with all due respect, people like you are the reason why there are 1000s of different denominations: Making big deals over small things.

I once belonged to a congregation where a man came to Christ and wanted to be baptized but he was a dealer at a casino. He was told that he had to quit his job before he could be baptized. Is that biblical? Can you imagine the background checks that would have been required in Acts 2? We cannot saddle people with moral code but allow them to grown under the yoke that is easy and the burden that is light...Jesus Christ.
***** Ephesians 4:28 makes it clear that there are restrictions on what jobs Christians can take. We are to work with our own hands on "that which is good". Gambling does not fit the bill. When someone with a wicked job joined the early church, the congregations supported him and helped him find respectable work. To work in a casino is to stumble the weak and is worse than having a millstone around your neck and be thrown into the deepest sea.
There is an example among the early Christians about an actor who wanted to be baptized. The church's response was to instruct him to leave his occupation, and the churches would support him until he could find appropriate employment. How many churches would do this today?

We are all unworthy of the grace of God. I’ve been the Pharisee before, I’ve been like the kid not knowing much about the word, mistaken on certain doctrines but having a simple faith in Christ as Lord and Savior. I think what is important is recognizing that if someone is mistaken on an important biblical topic, to not get puffed up but to share with them the truth. For me I believed in some very questionable things when I first was granted saving faith. Modalism, tongues, evolution, semi-pelagianism, at times I would even think I wasn’t bad enough for hell, but over time through studying the Word I began to be sanctified in my beliefs. I think it’s important to view every believer in this way, to correct them in their beliefs lovingly and gently, but also to trust that the Holy Spirit will sanctify them if their faith is genuine, and that the Fathers will is perfect and trustworthy no matter what.

As for 1:35 - 2:35, you highlight a point about not stifling the enthusiasm of people getting into the Word of God. After all, isn't this what it is all about? This is the first step of transformation. I have a friend or two who for lack of a better term are "a little less put together", and one of them rebuked me for something. Just like an adult taking a rebuke from a child, it's hard sometimes to take a rebuke from someone you perceive as "lower status", but then status is a worldly concept anyway.

It goes much deeper than that. Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone that saith unto me Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father, who is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name cast out demons? And in thy name done many wonderful works?
Then will I profess unto them, I never knew you, depart from me ye that worketh iniquity.
Why were these seemingly good people who did many wonderful works not saved?
Two reasons, In the first verse Jesus said they never did the will of His Father. What is the will of His Father? John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that all that seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have eternal life, and I will raise Him up on the last day.
They trusted In their own works and their own righteousness to earn heaven by their own merit. Romans 11:6 We can only be saved by grace, not works.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, and we all sin, but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. You can not add law/works to grace, or it is no more grace. Those that trust in what they do instead of the all sufficiency of Jesus blood atonement for all our sin forever, are not saved.
We all deserve to go to hell. Roman 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. So we either accept Jesus full payment for all our sin, or we believe we can save our selves by how we live and what we do. But those who do not believe Jesus paid for all our sins are not saved. Five words that mean grace. Christ died for our sins. And that is the only way we can be saved is by faith alone in Christ alone and we have nothing to boast in because we did nothing for it. Ephesians 2:8-9 Those that are trusting in their own works and self righteousness are not saved. We have to be as righteous as God to be saved.
Romans 4:6-8 When we trust Jesus as our savior, he imputes His righteousness to us through the Holy Spirit and will no more impute sin to our account. All our sins are paid for forever, past, present, and future sins. They are all washed away by the blood of the Lamb. John 3:18 We can no longer be condemned. John 6:47 verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath eternal life.
Those that trust in what thy do trying to earn haven by keeping the law and doing good works are not saved. Only those that believe Romans 11:6 It is all grace, not works. You can not add one thing to what Jesus has already done, or it is no longer grace and we are not saved. Our works can not be added to what Jesus has already done. That is blasphemy. We can not add works to be saved, or after we are saved. Or salvation is no longer a free gift, and those that do not accept it as a free gift are not saved. We have to do nothing but accept Jesus full payment for all our sins forever. Then He will give us eternal life. Since all our sin debt has been paid in full, when Jesus said it is finished, we have no sins to pay for and can not go to hell based on what HE did not on what we do.
What if you live in sin all next week? Paid. Are their any sins Jesus did not pay for? No. He paid for all sin for everyone in the whole world, so any one could believe and be saved. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, (everybody) that He gave His only begotten Son, (Jesus ) that WHOSOEVER, (anybody) BELIEVETH IN HIM, should not perish, but have everlasting life.We never quit sinning in this life but Jesus paid for them all. First Corinthian 15:1-4 is the gospel. That Christ died for our sins, Five words. Five is grace. Christ died for our sins. When we believe it we have eternal life because of what He did, not on any thing we do or do not do.

John G. Paton was a missionary who evangelised a violent island where everyone, both men and woman, wear little to no clothing. In his book, The Story of John G. Paton or Thirty Years Among South Sea Cannibals, John G. Paton records this incident about a native man and woman who became Christians and then wanted to marry but feared they would be killed because there were a few men who wanted to marry the woman:
"In a few seconds, Yakin entered and if Nelwang’s bearing and appearance were rather inconsistent with the feeling of worship (he was wearing a shirt, kilt and tommahawk, John G. Paton felt it inappropriate to wear an emblem of violence to church)- and what on earth was I to do when the figure and costume of Yakin began to reveal itself marching in?
The first visible difference betwixt a Heathen and a Christian is that the Christian wears some clothing, the Heathen wears none. Yakin had determined to show the extent of her Christianity by the amount of clothing she could carry upon her person. Being a Chief’s widow before she became Nelwang’s bride, she had some idea of state occasions and appeared dressed in every article of European apparel, mostly portions of male attire, that she could beg or borrow from about the premises!
Her bridal gown was a man’s drab-coloured great-coat, put on above her native grass skirts and sweeping down to her heels, buttoned tight. The day was excessively hot, and the perspiration poured over her face in streams. She, too, sat as near to me as she could get on the woman’s side of the church. Nelwang looked at me and then at her smiling quietly, as if to say, “You never saw in all your white world, a bride so grandly dressed!”
I little thought what I was bringing on myself when I urged them to come to church. The sight of that poor creature sweltering before me constrained me for once to make the service very short - perhaps the shortest I ever conducted in all my life! The day ended in peace. The two souls were extremely happy, and I praised God that what might have been a scene of bloodshed had closed thus, even though it were in a kind of wild grotesquerie!"

Paul washer could you please be my preacher again because several churches have uninvited me I thought about having church in my own house because people in my area are tried of a watered down gospel around here I think I probably should start a church at my house so people can hear the truth but I'm not sure if I'm ready yet.
Once and for all, If Saved, you are born again, and not by works but by faith you are saved, the evidence of that is a repentant heart and changed, as John the baptist layed claim, REPENT & be BAPTIZED, not just baptized....

Legalism isn't about the commandments of God but about uninspired and man-made rules, that can often get in the way of the commandments of God. God says "The Sabbath is the seventh day of the Lord, on it you shall do no (secular) work." The legalist says: "healing and deliverance from demons must never be done on Sabbath, a paralyzed man is forbidden to pick up his mat and walk on Sabbath."
When Jesus asked? "Which is lawful, to save life or to take life?" he was really saying "You hypocrites going on at me for healing, yet you yourselves are plotting my demise as we speak! That's illegal any day of the week!"
This is an important distinction, because sometimes God will get very detailed about sin and obedience - from the clothes we wear, the food we eat, to the music we listen to and TV/TH-cam we watch, how much time we spend in bed, how much we spend on hobbies, how much time we spend sharing the gospel, even what we think about all come under God's magnifying glass and scalpel.
But really, the root problem with legalism is pride, and the appearance of righteousness. South Park, crude as it is - did a parody of this with a load of Toyota "Pious" drivers. You can see the attitude - this negative stench of smugness - in fictional characters - to the grandmother in "Flowers In The Attic" to the woman buried deep in her Bible in "The Square Root Of Two". All this is just as carnal as sex, drugs, fast cars and food binges. Although these types of sinners aren't as fashionable today as the drunkards and sexually immoral, whereas then - things like fornication, both heterosexual and homosexual were frowned upon - just like sexism against men is now more fashionable than sexism against women, and racism against white people more fashionable than racism against black. The history of the church is constantly under renovation, as some see "liberal theology" seeping in. It becomes a green light for legalists to start a new denomination or throw out those who love the Lord. The real evil is from within, just like our own individual sin... not from outside, of ourselves but within.
Just remember what JESUS said when talking to the Pharisees about the disciples eating grain on the sabbath. The law was created for man. Man was not created for the law. Christians generally set aside Sundays (1 of 7 days in the week) to stop work and dedicate time to the LORD.
The Bible doesn't actually teach that we are to meet on the seventh day of the week (Saturday). Rather, it teaches that we are to meet every seventh day, without the qualification of a particular starting point. The Hebrew Old Testament normally uses the unqualified phrase "the seventh day" to refer to days which were not the seventh day of the month, and which could not possibly have fallen on the same day of the week from year to year (e.g. Exod. 12:15,16; 13:6; Lev. 23:6-8; 13:5,6,27,32,34,51; 14:9,39; Num. 6:9; 7:1-48; 19:12,19; 28:17-25; 31:19,24; Deut. 16:1-8; Josh. 6:4,15; Judg. 14:12-18; 2 Sam. 12:18; 1 Kgs. 20:29; Est. 1:10). These uses of the phrase (by far the majority of its uses in the Old Testament) appear simply to mean "seven days later." Moreover, there were some Sabbaths that were not on the seventh day (e.g. Lev. 23:27 & 32-39)
Similarly, in Exodus 16 where God commanded the Israelites to observe the Sabbath in the wilderness, he indicated which day would be the Sabbath not by referring to days of the week, but by telling them to count the days on which they received manna (Exod. 16:4-5,22-23). The Bible does not say that they began to receive manna on the first day of the week, but marks the time from "the fifteenth day of the second month after their departure from Egypt" (Exod. 16:1). We do not possess an ancient Hebrew calendar, and we do not know on which day the Sabbath fell in the wilderness. In fact, it is entirely possible that the Hebrews did not determine which day the Sabbath was by looking at the calendar to find the seventh day of the week, but instead determined the seventh day of the week by first determining when the Sabbath was.
Assessing all the occurences of "seventh day" in the Old Testament, and looking at the institution of the Sabbath, it seems that the Old Testament does not clearly teach that the Sabbath is to be observed on the seventh day of the week -- or at least that the calendar week is not to be used to determine which day is the seventh.
In the New Testament, the Jews celebrated the Sabbath on what was generally recognized as the seventh day of the week (Matt. 28:1; Mark. 16:1-2; Luke 23:56-24:1), and Jesus recognized their choice of days (e.g. Matt. 12:1-13; Luke 13:14-16). However, neither Jesus nor any other New Testament writer indicated that the Sabbath day always had to fall on the seventh day of the week as determined by any regular calendar.
Based on this thinking, the New Testament church, under the guidance of the Apostles, apparently felt the freedom to change the day of observance relative to the secular calendar. They still maintained the commanded six-day-plus-one pattern, but shifted their Sabbath observance to the first day of the week relative to the secular calendar. They chose this day most probably because it was the day on which Jesus had been raised from the dead (Matt. 28:1; Mark 16:2; Luke 25:1; John 20:1). The risen Lord also chose the first day of the week on which to manifest himself to his disciples when they were gathered together (John 20:19,26). In any event, it seems that the first day of the week probably came to be known as the "Lord's Day" (Rev. 1:10), and seems to have been the day on which the church gathered with the approval of the Apostles (Acts 20:7). There does not appear to be any evidence in the New Testament that the early church felt compelled to observe the seventh day of the week as the Sabbath, and there is some possible evidence that Paul taught that Christians were not obligated to observe that particular day (Col. 2:16).
In conclusion, the practice of Sunday observance is based first on the understanding that the Bible does not command observance on the seventh day of the calendar week, and second on church tradition established under the approval of the Apostles.

Faith in Christ IS obeying Him! Being a faithful servant and doing what He says is NOT the dead works of man and it is NECESSARY! Read James chapter 2. Faith without works is DEAD and it CANNOT save you. If you truly believe in Jesus, you will be FAITHFUL and OBEY Him. If you don't follow Him, He will not force you to go to Heaven. In Romans 11:20 Paul speaks of people being broken off due to unbelief. If you look at the Greek and Hebrew meanings of the words in the Bible, they can be different from what we may originally think. The word used for "unbelief" means faithlessness and unfaithfulness, or disobedience. When I checked the definition in e-Sword, the word "disobedience" was specifically used. Faith without obedience is not saving faith, it is dead faith. Just as our own righteousness without Jesus is dead works. We MUST obey God or we do not have faith. God bless.

By the way the word condemned means damned, meaning to damn to hell; it has nothing to do with a feeling or a tone of voice but it has to do with a sentencing of something (sin) or someone (sinner) to eternal damnation in hell.

Amelia, belief or faith is enough, we are saved by grace through faith and not by works. No works at all, just faith. However, faith that is actual real saving faith always produces obedience and good works. Each person who God saves is in a sanctification process where a visible holiness begins to be formed, not instantaneously but little by little and goes on until the day we are with Christ. To be sure there will be a change in the life of a person who has been saved, like growing in holiness and growing in obedience but they are not saved because they do these things, they do these things because they are saved. So when you or myself encounter a person who is not as mature as us we offer them grace and mercy first and give them a chance, not judge them before we've had the opportunity to speak to them. The clincher is this: that there is NO ONE EVER that will ever walk with Christ perfectly. The difference is whether or not you care, not whether or not you do it perfectly. You must consider the Apostle Paul as well as Paul Washer a legalistic Pharisee teacher.

A Person is not in flesh anymore, if you have the holy spirit, you still sin paul also struggled with his flesh.
We talk about to be saved, to be saved you only need to put you fully trust in christ to come in heaven, you dont need to stop you sins(would be keeping the law as condition) or be willing, its a free gift, received only thorught faith and it is only the blood of christ which god accepts and not you selfrightouness works
