I've run a few races with my Marlin 8 and have even races against others on their Marlin 8's and i can say it is a fully capable, competitive cross country bike. The drivetrain takes a few weeks of riding and adjusting before it settles in though so i wouldn't recommend jumping into anything too early. I love the bike and can't wait for the good weather to return!

Would this be a good all purpose bike that could be used on local beginner/intermediate singletrack, gravel and even paved bike paths? Is the Sram SX drivetrain reliable?

Here in UK it's advertised as the xxs size having a 26" wheel.
Along with 155mm cranks. If this is true this is a revelation!
As i am a small person i have had to put up with 165mm cranks (normally 170mm ), and large diameter wheels.
I am now going to seriously look very close as a viable option ,to getting into biking again after being disillusioned for 15 years .

Yep, just released a new lineup, also added a new roscoe - the 9, has a fox 34 rhythm and gx, pretty sweet bike. They stop making it a “fat bike” and now has thinned out tires which is great. Would get one if the wait isn’t so long. I’ll stick to my canyon strive cfr. Pretty solid bike just switched out the sram for shimano and rockshox to fox right when I got it.

Would you not agree that this is the "best" Marlin yet? Never before did it have this level of components, air shock, tubeless ect. This spec/model level is new for 2022. Objectively you would have to agree this is the "best" Marlin they have done. Sure there are lots of other bikes and no claim has been made that this is better or the best compared to other options available, that's for the rider to decide.
