I even signed-up for the membership and even after looking at the videos provided with the membership being not really being useful to me (lot of mathematics that I don't need) It's the videos like these that I fully support and will keep my membership! Be aware that the numbers for hot and cold spark plugs differs from manufacturer to manufacturer. NGK numbers the spark plugs from cold (1) to hot (11) as you described, but Bosch does the ospposite: hot (1) to cold (10).

      @@king_james_official I'm tempted to agrree, but that should be rash.
      Generally, just now I'd say that anything electronically pre-programmed to 'perform ' by the choice of which button to press, rather than the choice of which strings to use manually in which key, distinguishes an operator, or a mechanical engineer, from a musician.

      @@king_james_official Yes, in reverse, too.
      With my current mental state of great depression, I'll just add that the creativity necessary to produce a sound in a pre-programmed device should really be attributed to the usually generally unknown instrument manufacturer.
      However, in writing this, I do see now the player's decisions entirely decide the sound of the final presentation.
      But the player of an unprogrammed instrument has to carry the chord conceptions in his mind before shaping them into the vibrations necessary for the intended delivery.
      You'll have to excuse me.
      I'll thank you for wanting a conversation with me. But I've been terribly, terribly unhappy for many years, and it's reached something of a peak.
      This has stimulated the mind; some sparks, as it were, are flying; but please, not thanklessly by any means, I'll have to say I just don't feel mentally strong enough to have what I'd usually expect to find intriguing, ie, an exchange of thoughts.
      Please do speak yours, but I'm going to have to retire.
      Thanks.

    I apologize for being ignorant but I'm not understanding the flow of the diagram at 0:53. It looks like a fuel/air mixture is coming into the chamber, and directed around to the other side and compressed into the cylinder by the upward motion of the piston. What I don't understand is why does according to the drawing, does the fuel/air mixture look like it should leak out of the exhaust side?? Is there some kind of check valve where the exhaust and the cylinder meet to allow only exhaust? thanks.

    Question: Why scale the spark plug with engine operating temperatures? Since it will keep temps below the threshold regardless, why not design every engine to use a cold spark plug? Is there a functional reason? Lower insulated material cost during manufacturing? Perhaps a business incentive to have more, specialized product types to sell?

  • @patbaptiste9510

    What can cause a spark plug to *fail* even when no visible defect is observed? The reason for the question is, I just watched another video where the vehicle was misfiring and the cause was diagnosed to a particular spark plug. The technique involved location swapping of the coil, spark plug and cable, into three separate locations. This technique was determined by the tech after observing live data wherein, one of the cylinders indicated a wide variation of numbers. I'm just curious to learn what might have caused that spark plug to fail - even though it showed absolutely no sign of failure.
    Can the resistance value and or the porcelain insulator suffer a partial breakdown due to age / use?

    • @lupo631
      @lupo631 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spark plugs can fail because of an internal failure, i.e.spark plugs with internal resistance the resistance can burn out. You can measure it by using an Ohmmeter. Or internal broken porcelain, not to see from outside but when in use the gap leads to a failure and the spark plug stops to work correctly. Both can happen because of a not 100% correct production. I experienced this several times.

    So, you can get the full 20.000 volts with a kickstarter too because of the gearing?
    What is the minimum value of the battery to get to the 20K to 40K volts?

    • @boowonder888
      @boowonder888 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@savree-3d thanks for your response. I never heard of an ignition coil before. So when you kickstart a scooter, the gears run an alternator. That AC voltage created is then amplified by a transformer (EC) and thus 20K volts are created that flows through the sparkplug. Im I getting that right?

    • @boowonder888
      @boowonder888 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@savree-3d I kickstarted my scooter for 1 year without a working battery inside. So I have to believe the kiickstarting alone can provide the rotation to the starting circuit. If the spark plug iis part of the starting circuit I cant see what else could gve it the 20v volts but the kick starting.
