  • William Lee Golden - Spotlight 5
This week’s Spotlight 5 is featuring one of the top country singers in the US, William Lee Golden. William was born in 1939 and he’s widely regarded as an influential, well-rounded baritone singer for the Oak Ridge Boys. He entered the Oak Ridge Boys band in 1965, and at that time they were a Southern gospel music group.
Right off the bat, he was highly appreciated. Even today, he is very easy to recognize because he has waist-length hair and a beard. He was in this band until 1987 when the other members chose to switch directions for the band, With that in mind, he still remained at MCA Records and created American Vagabond, which was his first solo album. After 1990 however, he chose to move on and went to Mercury Records to release Louisiana Red Dirt Highway.
William Lee Golden was married 4 times and he has 4 sons, but also a stepdaughter and 7 grandkids. 2 of his songs, Chris and Rusty created by The Goldens and recorded for Capitol Records and Epic Records between 1988 and 1991. The Goldens even ended up playing with William Lee Golden and his road band.
