I have a 05 GS500F ( red & black , awesome little bike, Wait till the engine is cold & then adjust it to 1100, the little white plastic adjuster on top of the engine under the tank, ya can see it & just reach in with 2 fingers , screw it anticlockwise, , let engine cool, so ya don't burn your finger
Yes, I've seen comments on the older ones, I've only seen pics of them & they don't look great. I've 05 GS500F, Black & Red, super little bike, great fun. Easy to fix, fuel, insure, drive, comfy ride position, good tank for fuel range, great fun in the mountains on little tarmac roads & bends, it's close to ground, low centre of gravity & nice weight to keep u stuck to the road, sit sales over the bumps too 😂
Hey man I got the same exact bike just got it for only $1650 runs great looks good only concern is it just hit 20k miles u think that’s really high for these ?
Is it normal for these bikes to tick a bit? Mine ticks kinda a lot but only when it’s warmed up when the engine is cold it doesn’t tick but when it does and it’s warmed up It’s a pretty noticeable tick
@@IFixShet oh ok so as long as mine doesn’t bog starts right away and has good power i shouldn’t worry about the valves needing adjusting or something?
@@IFixShetluckily I fixed it, when I was rebuilding carbs I put 2 main bets on one side, and 2 1/2 throttle jets on one side, now she runs great. Now I’m having the issue of the hanging idle, was it a vacuum leak for you or did you have luck with adjusting the idle screw. It idles fine once you bring the RPMs down by bogging it like you did.
My uncle has a shed-kept 2007 gs500f with literally 900 miles on it, but rusty tank and dirty fuel system. He barely rode it(for whatever reason) thinking about trying to get it going again.
@@nGuruu well immediately replace the gas tank don't even bother trying to repair it and replace all of the fuel lines then pull the carbs give them a very thorough cleaning and then try to start it and see what happens my guess is the carbs are going to continue giving you problems even after you clean them just because that's how old carbs go when they sit with fuel in them they end up getting all gunked up on the interior of the carburetor where you can't access the parts you'll probably end up having to buy used carbs off of eBay to make it run again
Hey just saw your video about the DF50SST from a couple months ago. My friend has one and it recently fell over and he didn’t notice til he woke up for work, but now it won’t start. Any ideas ? 2022 DF50SST
Gotchaa! Well we assumed it could be the spark plugs because the battery still works, it still has fuel and you can smell it a little from when it tipped over. Others were saying the fuel injectors themselves could be flooded or the spark plugs to be cleaned or changed whenever a bike falls on it’s side. Might be a long shot but can you give me a brief run down of how to change the spark plugs on these bikes ? Manual is coming in the mail soon and can’t find nothing online explaining it
The engine that is in your scooter is a GY6 50CC. There are millions of videos of this engine and the spark plug just look up GY6 spark plug change. It's a Chinese engine it's put in a lot of different Chinese machines including basically every Chinese scooter ever made.
The GS500 is a great "First real bike". Theyre simple, teliable, easy to work on, cheap to run & insure & gets great milage on plain unleaded. Negatives are, you must change the oil often, that air cooled engine is hard on your oil & the fork springs-rear shock should be upgraded (an easy $250 job for both) & then it will handle like a pro & be more than enough for years to come.

Those bikes were restyled in 2001 and it made a massive difference. Early ones were too incomfy.

Hey man is it bad to straight pipe these? I’m considering cutting the muffler where it’s welded is that fine to do?

Picked up an 06 but after rebuilding carbs all that, i gotta be wide open throttle just to stay at 60mph at 5k rpm, is that similar for you or no?
Nope your bike has a problem
