Please tell me they are going to release those for us left-handed folks?
I would want to play the both of them. I just want the cheaper one to stay close to the highest one. Is there a big difference. Thanks
To Sweetwater Please let me know the weight of the strings being used in this demonstration? Thank you
PS. . . . . . the weight & brand of the strings being used in this demonstration please
I have been waiting for a Japanese Pacifica for years now! I am super excited!
This has me wondering why I’m still playing fenders. Nice to see Yamaha really pushing their designs
G&L > fender all day
My Fender is now for sale. Pacifica has been ordered!
which fender are you using?
One of the best coil split sounds I have heard on a guitar!
Made in Japan with Gotoh locking tuners, stainless steel frets, easy access truss, neck heel cutaway, and two-point tremolo bridges. Even the standard model at $1349 has SS frets! Fender just got caught with their pants down.
I would be so happy to have a new Pacifica Standard and a Revstar Standard. Yamaha is killing it lately
Next is t style guitar.
Yamaha was killing it making the best cheap guitars. Now they are not really killing it at all, as there are better guitars, with better pickups and frets at the same price-range. For £1800 there are a lot of good guitars out there. I am sure the Yamahas are also good but they do lack a bit in style and design too compared to other guitars at £1800
It's a bit overpriced...I think they're $200-$300 overpriced tbh
actually bro Yamaha has been killing it for YEARS, decades even, you just didn't know ;)
@@MrGone2lake yea you are completely right! I never noticed them in the past, but i am well aware of them now. 😁 The Revstar Standard with p90s is the nicest guitar i have ever owned. 😍 I wish i realized this sooner.
Yamaha (Pacifica) when first released offered a high-end Japanese Warmoth neck Pacifica, and the high-end Japanese Mike Stern model. So there has always been a niche market for a high end Pacifica model. Congrats to Yamaha for bringing it back I say.
God!! Yamaha are offering a 2-piece body on the top model!!!! Even some Fender Strat custom shop guitars are made with 3-piece bodies today.
You had me at "stainless steel frets"!!! Wow, so exciting!
So good to see Brandon doing his thing with Yamaha! Amazing he was just doing GOTD @ norms just a year ago. Congrats on your position Brandon.
I've never understood why more musicians don't know the quality of Yamaha guitars
If you look at human nature it's pretty obvious. Branding has a big impact on how customers perceive things
I play my revstar professionnal on every gigs (150+ gigs a year), they are amazing. I am seriously considering buying one of those Pacifica
name on the headstock plays a big part.
@@titussasmoko2353 You are correct, yet a musician past beginner should be able to get past that. I own 2 Yamaha strats and the lowest priced one Pacifica 612 is better than my 2 Fender players, there's no comparison. Oh well.
@@tnvalleyyoga7122 yeah, I am a yamaha fan as well, have a revstar, plan to purchase this pacifica standard plus with maple board as well.
how does the 612 sound compared to your fender players?
These look fantastic. Yamaha nailed it with these
I don't know if I'd ever drop $2,000 for ANY guitar, this would be the one if I absolutely had to. Just look at that Desert Burst!
..with that new Maple fingerboard.........oooohhhh would have been a nobrainer for me.....2 piece body are you kidding me!!!!
It's just a beautiful piece of art 😍
I always felt the same way about guitars at that price but I gave in and just or ordered the black metallic Pro.
those are absolutely gorgeous. I've wanting to finally grab a new Yamaha since the most recent Revstars, but these look incredible.
I love my Pacifica 612! I love that they added maple fretboards and contoured heel joints! I need to find that black one soon…
Funny you say the new Black one with the Maple fingerboard.
I bought a Yamaha Pacifica when they were released 91/92. I saw a Black one with a Maple fingerboard, that was the one for me!!! I still have it (over 30 years old now), still the easiest to play guitar I own, I think the Maple fingerboard plays even easier than the rosewood fingerboard models.....so I've been waiting a bloody long time for Yamaha, to re-introduce a Maple fingerboard option on their Pacifacs!!!!
I've heard that the Japanese one will be 3000+ and the Indonesian at 2000+
@@mahmam3128 I heard that too, and looked into it. Yamaha has a weird habit of posting irrelevant "MSRP" figures on their product pages. Even though they have the Professional listed at $3,700 and Standard Plus at $2,200, the actual prices on dealers like Sweetwater look like they're going to be $2,200 for the Professional and $1,350 for the Standard Plus.
Man, this launch would have been 200% cooler if Michael Lee Firkins was involved and showing the guitars. Go get that guy back! He was the big Pacifica endorser back in the day.
I started on a cheap Pacifica and it was great, so I might end up picking up a higher end one
Mitch G. for the win! I will be getting one of these. I had a 1990 Yamaha RGX and I miss it. This is just a win. The Fretboard radius and Stainless steel frets!
Just got my one (612) yesterday in Tokyo.
🎉 Perfection. 🎉
I wished they recreated those 90s Pacificas. The one FIrehouse used the Pacifica 1221 was sooo good.
Killer guitar....
I am excited to see Yamaha offer some higher end Pacifica models again. In my 59 years if playing, three of my favorite guitars were the Pacifica 912, the 904 and the USA 2 model. If I had the money right now I'd be snatching on of these up without hesitation.
Very interesting . I wish Yamaha would bring back the Pacifica 1221 from the early nineties.
Ditto, ditto....Killer guitar they were
@@Mexxx65 Indeed... I had a Blueish/purple one. Wish i can get it back..
Love to see some of the design coming from the Revstar into these popular guitars.
I like my Revstar so much, and considering how my Silver Sky SE hasn’t really grown on me, I may end up going for one of these 😊
Everyone I know with a Silver Sky thinks they're good but they just don't like them very much. Weird how they just have that effect on people
The problem with the resonance and all that routing, neck trust road relocation - is that pickups doesn't care about any of that.
So only the feel for the player will change at most. Which isn't bad, all things considered.
SS frets are great fo longevity btw.
true
@kennethdarlington Totally wrong! the vibrations of the neck and the body initiated by the vibrations of the strings influences back the vibrations of the strings, and that creates subtle movements/vibrations to the strings which can have a non negligible impact on the overall sound.
People put a wrap around the strings on the neck's nut to have less vibrations bounce back from the head stock to have a more "neat" sound, and that only tells you that resonances of the wood and metal parts of a guitar are incredibly important in the final sound.
Those resonances are way more important than one may think...
@@HiraManga I mean... When recording gear was unobtainable for the vast majority - there were tonewoods and other "magical" stuff. When recording became affordable for basically everyone - not so much.
The problem with your vibrations "bounce back and forth" is that they are so insignificant for the final (recorded) result, that they are nearly undistinguishable by blind tests.
I have a Pacifica 012, nice guitar
Add a copper or aluminum pickguard to that guitar and it will be stunning...
A copper pickguard (as my Revstar RS820CR has), and the option of the Maple fingerboard, on the new 2-piece body Desertburst..........Ohhhhhh, Ohhhhhh, Could I resist that?
Time to reissue the Pacifica 1221 and 1421!
Definitely the 1421 (or even the 1412)! That is one my top 5 guitars I would love to own! A reissue would be awesome!
Good demo-you sound good, Mitch
im thinking of buying a Yamaha Pacifica 611VFM in camel brown for my first guitar ive been practising on my friends Fender Squier for a little bit
Looking forward to getting one of these in a lefty!
This is like.... FINALLY
Prob the best guitar i've seen out of all the new lineups. 2 things to change though, a progressive asymmetric neck carve (not fretboard) and hog out some calculated body chambers like they did with the revstar - also offer 1 other variant with a HB bridge - p90 neck like the former years.
After watching further - looks like they did some 'chambering'! A+
I'd love a Pacifica, I still want a PAC611HFM, I'd like a 612 if it was hardtail to because the pickup combos. But any would do. If there are improvements on those then awesome pickup combinations and hardtail great.
My 611hfm is awesome..i think that guitar winning in many ways
My 611hfm is awesome..
I've done nothing but change strings on it.....left completely unmodded, as I bought it.
What is the nut size 41mm ?
The black Pacifica with the maple neck has my attention Mitch The Neve pickups , i am very curious , i hope they used Alnico II .

@@bostonbesteats364 oh then the website must've been wrong on the prices of the new ones, 1400 isn't too bad
Are these models supposed to replace the older ones in the lineup or just compliment the lineup?
Mateo Mancusso plays Yamaha, I think the brands need make him his signature, he’s the man of the moment, better do it now before Ibanez or Fender recruit him
transformer project - the UR-RT , it's great Thx !
It would be cool to see Blues Saraceno make a return to Yamaha. My RGZ820R is one guitar I’ll never part with if I can help it.
Why no left handed models? 🤔
Very impressive. While I do understand that they must meet certain price points to be competitive, I still have to point out that some mainly aesthetic features of the prototypes that floated around for the last few years have obviously been removed. Painted headstocks, fancier pickguards and cavity covers (aluminum, etc.), and breathtaking paint jobs are no more. While I wish them all the best, I think that to "up" the Pacifica name from the "beginner guitar" status of the last decades, you need a flagship that also looks the part, even if it costs more and sells poorly. As great as these sound, they look like every other S-style, and even the 300/600 series models have more interesting colors and matching headstocks.
When is pricing going to be disclosed? are these replacing the Pacifica 600 series?
Around $1,349 and $2,199
Well done Yamaha
Look interesting. I'll have to look into them.
Whoa! 13.75 radius! Deal killer for me.
@@greatvanziniif you're used to 12" you'll find you get used to this really quickly. And the neck profile makes a huge difference. I used to think I hated flatter radii from some Ibanezes I played in the past, but their prestige Wizard Super HP iirc neck they do on all the prestige RGs now is 17" radius but feels amazing even for traditional playing. Like it's flat, but you don't notice it and comfort is supreme.
"new neck profile" is just the change of truss-rod adjustment place?
He also mentioned the compound radius change.
@@adamstrachn yes, they used to be compound radius on the first Pacificas (1991) that were high end guitars made in the USA.
Is the only difference between the two is one is made in Japan and the other isn’t?
I’m a huge Yammie fan, and have a sh!t-ton of their gear. Been playing their drums for over 30yrs. But, I didn’t see anything in this video that told me they’re worth the price tag. Especially, with the bodies being 2-3pc’s. They’re very nice. All of Yamaha’s gear is very nice. That’s their starting point. But, IMO, not enough of an improvement over their Pacifica line, to justify the price. Pickups are interesting though.
Routes under the pickguard to make the body resonate the same as the neck.
Truss rod access at the heel of the neck instead of the headstock, to increase low end.
Couldn't help but chuckle at that.
Yamaha definitely always seems to make good stuff. Often overlooked when it comes to guitars, for some reason.
When it comes to me, anyway.
I'd just replace the 2 spearate string trees for a Reverend Triple Tree and..."free the D". Otherwise, loving the Pink Standard with its Gotoh hardware and stainless steel frets.
If there is a 2 Tone sunburst with a maple neck/ fretboard, ill be calling
Ditto
So far, our dreams from Yamaha (Pacifca) are still on hold :( ... 2-piece body though...mmm
Which amp is Mitch using?
Rivera
痺れた!
Japanese guitars are as good as anyone. And it's nice to see something different and yet familiar.
Variax pacifica next? 👀
I'm not sure whether this is just me being scared of change or not, but I'm not sold on the new different shape of the pickguard, mostly out of concern for moddability. One of the reasons I got a Pacifica was because it wasn't a Fender but could still be easily modded, and part of the reason for that is because they'd been using the same two pickguard designs for almost 30 years, to the extent that the pickguard of a 2023 612VIIFM could probably go on my 1995 102S (as long as you didn't mind redoing the electronics to add a mid pickup, or just leaving an empty hole in the middle...). The other thing is that the nut has also been redesigned, which means that my strategy of just getting a Graphtech Pacifica pre-cut nut to improve the stability of my 112J when using the vibrato arm won't work on one of these models, at least not in the short term. Not to mention that I was also able to put the same Graphtech pre-cut nut on that 1995 102S I mentioned earlier: that's super valuable.
They do look like really nice guitars, Yamaha quality and everything, they sound great, and in all fairness, most people don't buy a $1000+ guitar to mod it. But I'm worried that those two changes in particular are the start of doing to Pacificas what proprietary brand-specific seatposts and stems have done to road bikes.
Yamaha (Pacificas) have all had weird pickguard shapes. Not much else wrong with them though............
2.199 $ for the core model. I wonder how that's going to be translated in € for the European market. Insane prices. Yes, surely a well built guitar, but doesn't justify such a high price tag. My humble opinion.
It's insane, but not out of the ordinary anymore. Fender has some MIJ guitars around $1,200, but Ibanez, EVH and other brands have their MIJ guitars well over $2k.
Yamaha also have several at the $1,349 price point which seems to be spec'd the same as the more expensive model. Not sure the difference in a quick look.
oh no my gas is acting up
Time for a PRO+FR (Floyd Rose).
YES PLEASE
Pacifica guitars used to have vintage tremolo bridge (Fender type like on the 712 model), Floyd Rose tremolo bridge (721, 921, 1212 and 1221 models) and Wilkinson tremolo bridge (812w for example) back in the 90's. Pacifica guitars were made in the USA. The neck heel joint had nothing to do with the post-90's ones and the actual ones, they were unbeatable as you could go to the 24th fret really really easily. The neck joint was like on the Washburn N4 (Nuno bettencourt model but with a different design and less massive) . Depending on the models you could have Seymour Duncan Pickups or Di Marzio Pickups. That were the original Pacifica Guitars that endorsed Michael Lee Firkins of whom I still have the guitar lessons video tape.
Hmmm... Sounds vaguely like USA2 ... :)
Pacifica are great guitars. It's just their weird Japanese styling that keeps them from getting being more popular. If they tweaked the headstock and body a little bit they would be way more popular.
interesting
TAKE MY MONEY
$1200 and $2100 ?
That's more expensive than expected. Would like to be on the same price range of the Revstar. But they look and sound amazing. What about the lower Pacifica range ? No evolution ?
This is supposed to be elevating the pacifica line into more professional territory, so it would only make sense to have them be in that range. The japanese revstar is also more expensive then the non japanese revstars
Pacifica guitars used to be high end guitars when they first came out in 1990/1991. Their prices were between 699$ to 2500$ nothing under. Yamaha endorsed guitar virtuoso Michel Lee Firkins and made the Pacifica line exclusively for him, and later on they also endorsed jazz / fusion guitar player Mike Stern.
Depending on the models They had vintage tremolo bridge (Fender type like on the 712 model), Floyd Rose tremolo bridge (721, 921, 1212 and 1221 models) and Wilkinson tremolo bridge (812w for example) back in the 90's. So they just wanted to re-create the Original Pacifica line that were high end guitars originally, but with the technology of 2024.
@@HiraManga never knew this, cool information. Thankyou
I have two Fender ultra Strats and a number of American and Mexican Fenders and frankly ready to move on from them. The quality of my Ultra is at best sub-optimal. I’m a dentist and I have a cheap Pacifica in my private office I play at noon. Sad to say I think the $200 Yamaha is better than the $2,100 Fender.
why? if i may ask, i was interested in buying a fender american ultra luxe, is it really bad ?
I've always been a big fan of the Pacifica line, but that pickguard on these new models is a bad design, IMO. Aside from the aesthetics of the pickguard, I wouldn't like feeling that cut line edge by the volume knob and 5-way switch everytime I played it. But other than that, they seem like another good addition to the Pacifica family.🙂
Pickguard is Great design!!!
Nope, not my cup of tea. It just looks kind of cheesy...but to each his own. Plus, when I play, I don't want to keep feeling the edge of a pickguard, just personal preference.
When HONDA entered the Formula 1 with their engines, lot of people where sceptic .... I said, well if they can make good motorbikes ,it wont be to hard to make a good F1 engine.... yamaha makes very good motorbikes...and very good piano's...digital and acoustic ones.... so a good guitar will not be too difficult to make for them
yamaha guitars were always easy to play, that was their selling point to me... those necks
tones were underwhelming played clean tho
1350 USD. Ouch.
The $$$ tho 🤔
I’m liking these but my new Ibanez az2402 is far superior in every way.
You never played one of these so your just being bias or jealous
No Hard Tail, Matching Head stock and No Sparkling finishes...
I have beef to pick with the marketing manager of Yamaha, I own a pacifica and the marketing team should have changed the name from Pacifica to anything like Atlantica or something like that with the new Pro & standard models. As pacifica's are considered low budget guitars. Nasty marketing
YAMAHA priced these guitars waay too high in correlation with the REVSTAR Standard which is a killer guitar for the money, I own 2 btw...sorry Yamaha, can't justify spending that much especially with the seemingly new pickups.
what on earth happened to the pickguard? work experience guy made a design decision?
These Yamaha Pacifcas in the end. Are designed to appeal to Japanese/Asian guitar players.
Awesome pickguard design
I think, firstly, it's to match the Revstar pickguard design so people immediately refers it to Yamaha, and secondly, those guitars will visually stick out and instantly be recognizable among all the guitars with a "stratoïd" shape.
I hate two string trees
3700$!!! 😂😂😂
Sales engineer is such a cringy term
Yeah, corporate America is weird. Associates and engineers, anything to call jobs by their actual names.
Why they don't make affordable Telecasters...such a lose.
Why not buy one of the several Telecasters (or Tele-like) models already on the market?
Mike Stern T style Pacifica, I still hark for to this day.
