The first time I ran a code was during my second year. I was walking down the adolescent ward in my short white coat, thinking about lunch, when a woman in scrubs ran out of room and said, "The doctors aren't answering. YOU are going to run this code." The patient survived and, amazingly, I did not die of a heart attack either.
How in the heck did you make this one song even better than BOTH originals? Great song, fantastic singing - this could probably work as a medical treatment!
I'm not in med school, but it makes me really happy to see people who are passionate about what they do. So much so that they go through all that to do what they want to do. Yeah, I know they'll make a lot of money, but I'd rather think it's their calling.
Most primary Care doctors do not make that much money when you figure all the hours they have to work and the cost of medical School. About five years ago I saw a report that showed that, for primary care doctors, if you count the cost of their education including interest on student loans and then subtract that from their lifetime, you'll get their actual lifetime income. You then take their lifetime income and divide it by the actual number of hours they have to work, you find that a primary care doctors hourly income is only slightly higher than the hourly income of an elementary school teacher. The decline in actual salary pay to primary was caused by a combination of insurance industry lobbying for a law in 1946 and the Reagan contacting doctors for the benefit of the insurance industry. The 1946 law was called the mccarran-ferguson act. That act prevents the federal government from regulating the insurance industry for price fixing. That leaves only state governments to regulate the insurance industry for price-fixing. They did this because they knew that the states did not have the financial power of the national government. So the insurance industry could raise prices without interference from consumer watchdogs. The Reagan administration use the justice department to attack doctors.. I first became aware of it when Margaret Heckler, Reagan's HHS secretary refused to fund AIDS research. She would then go to Congress and tell them to cut the funding because it was not being used. Of course she never mentioned that it was not being used because she refused to release the funds. Then I became aware of how the insurance industry manipulates insurance rates depending on how the stock market is doing. The insurance industry does not produce any goods or services. The insurance industry just functions as a middleman. It takes money people, holds that money, and then (maybe) give some of the money back to pay for healthcare. So most of the time the insurance industry has a huge pile of cash and they do not have to spend much of it on factories, or salaries for workers, or supplies. What would anyone do if they had a whole lot of money sitting around? You probably guessed it--the insurance industry rides the stock market. How do they make money when they stock market is not doing well? They raise the prices of insurance premiums. Since it is not illegal for them to engage in price-fixing, there is nothing to stop them. California was the first, and as far as I know, the only state to try and regulate the insurance industry. In the 1970s, after the oil crisis led to a stock market prices, California passed tort reform. Lowering payouts does not decrease insurance premiums. A little over a decade later, the next stock market crisis. Despite tort reform, California had the same insurance crisis is all the states without tort reform. So California did the sensible thing. They did what every other countries with universal health care does, they regulate the price of insurance. To increase insurance premium prices in California, an insurance company has to prove that their costs went up. When you look at the actual hourly pay of primary care physicians, which is most physicians, you can understand why people stopped applying to medical school during the 1980's. When I retired in 2007, I was expected to produce three to four times the amount of work for an hour's pay. The amount I was paid for that hour of work was less than half what I was getting paid twenty years before. Not surprising, the number of errors committed by any type of healthcare worker increased as they were required to work longer hours for less pay with an increased workload. It should also be factored into physicians pay the fact that a physician has a shorter life expectancy than other people with the same demographic characteristics.
I'm still coming back from time to time to watch this song again. I've knew this song since I was student in early years, now I'm Intern. Thanks guys for the joy you brought through this video. :)
You know what's funny? I ended up with this video and it's just so timely 'cause our exam would be on ECG and disturbances of rhythm! Thank God for such talented MDs! :)
Me Sitting here as a Pre-Med trying to figure out how to apply and make sure I get a good MCAT score. . . AT least my motivation is going up slightly. . . Amazingggg song thoughhhhhh.
You guys don't have idea how much I LOVE your videos! I'm a high school student who wants to go to med school, but the exams to enter this courses are extremely competitive here in Brazil. So I have to study a lot and it really stress me . However, I have this videos to relax! It's really great to see you singing a little about that career... It makes me laugh and remember why I have chosen such difficult course. So I just want to THANK YOU!! ❤❤❤
"At least I'm not in law school, I'd be sick." Was that supposed to be a burn? :D I'm not in both so I wouldn't know; what's there between med school and law school?
Theres a law school parody for payphone uploaded not long before this one but one of the lines was “if i had to go to med school, id be sick” so idk if they must have took inspiration or something. Both considered themselves the most difficult.
Both are super hard to get into & go through with but being biased to the med field , I must say the pressure of someone's life is wayyyy higher! Also law school isn't really long whereas basic med school 5.5-6yrs ( in India) + 2-3yrs MD + fellowship 🙂 this is usually where the "fight" leads to😂 Im literally gonna start my 6th sem(still 4 more to go) soon of med school & I see soo many other stream ppl already get their UG degree 🥲
SO. SO. SO. GOOD. I am so proud of you guys reppin for us med students :') . you guys could literally be on Glee. -from the people who made the Med School Disney parody in your related videos at the bottom right LOL

Same.
8 years have past
yet this problem is still existing
I don't believe that those were future doctors - future singers sounds more like it. :) All the voices were so beautiful! :D
H
It was the uni's acapella group after all
I love these that don't push their college on you. The music can be applied to any college and still work. That makes me love them all that much more.
Wow, voice of whoever sang "Give Your Heart A Break" sounds amazing. One of the best sounding medical school parodies

Are shots being fired towards the law school parody? 😂

I'm not in both so I wouldn't know; what's there between med school and law school?
Both consider themselves the most difficult to study in 😂
