i was an Air Hostess in the 60's we dressed well and our priority were our passengers and flight crew of course. We wore white gloves and greeted everyone personally and our uniforms were immaculate .

I remember going to the airport a couple times as a little kid. These machines were a little scary but incredibly fascinating to me. I remember airports sounding a lot 'whinier' when i was a kid, and now I know why. Pratt and Whitney.

Wow! Way more better than people today. Now you have people bringing crying babies onboard, kids behind you that kick the seat, and service that is nothing like in the video! My goodness it changed a LOT.

You’re generalizing the entire past by a video that purposely makes things look perfect? Please stop. Romanticizing the past just devalues your own existence.

Oh my, the halcyon days of yore. One thing that stood out right away is how travelers' attire has slob'd out somewhat over the last 40+ years.
I remember as a small kid in the late 60s, early 70s that folk used to be well-dressed for air travel (or any travel for that matter).
I love today's technology, but would prefer yesterday's culture and mannerisms.

Despite some of the cynical comments here, this was an intentional and very cool-retro look at flying back then.
Sure, times have really changed. In many other industries other than just the airlines.
Nice to see so many of the early airline liveries on the jets in the early /mid 60's.
Almost all liveries had changed later in the decade.
    Thanks for posting.

When I was 10, I enjoyed waiting for my blind father a few hours at the airport watching the jet planes. Though my time was just 20 years ago, this video reflects almost the same feeling. The flights were much more memorable back then.

Goodness, how I remember those days! Yes, I'm that old, but those days of much simpler times (in comparison to today) seemed so much more pleasant....people WERE nicer...people WERE better mannered and well dressed. Social civilities were the norm. I know....I was a chief steward and flew for 37 years during this era. The '50's and '60's were certainly the golden age for travel and I do miss it.

You got that right. In Florida, the standard outfit for guys at a departure gate is a T shirt, baggy shorts and of course the ever-present flip flops on the feet. Usually accompanied by a backpack, ear buds and let's not forget the trendy water bottle. For the traveling women, pretty much the same but add a purse and 10 items of Volkswagen-sized luggage they swear will all fit in the overhead bins; yeah, at the expense of everyone else's space. New Agers="I'ts all about meeeeeee!"

I was completing my final special ops traing and prepping for the Nam. Did not see one unformed GI in the back ground. You guys will probably laugh, but the one thing that stood out to me in this (excellent) video was the fact that the family had a push button phone. At home! That truly was cutting edge stuff in those days. And notice how gingerly the wife presses the buttons, like she had never done it before - she probably hadn't! The airplane/airport stuff doesn't impress me as much, planes were very advanced for their time because of their military development.

Amazing how little ATC has changed in 46 years! When piloting a plane you still have to talk over VHF radio to get your clearance, talk to the tower, approach and center controllers, and follow the exact same procedures shown in this movie. It's as if the Internet and wireless data communications were never invented.

The Delta logo for the most part hasn’t changed in over 50 years. The old TWA terminal looks cool as does the main terminal
At Dulles Airport. As a kid in the late 80’s I still remember Eastern, USAir and PanAm. Washington National airport back in the 80’s and around “90 was very much still a 1960’s looking airport

You’re romanticizing the past, which people have been doing for thousands of years. Each generation complains about the present and longs for the “good ol’ days”. Even philosophers that lived millennia ago criticized the present, while glorifying the past. It isn’t true - it never has been and never will. It’s similar to how older generations always criticize the youth of the day. You can find the same arguments people use today against millennials in newspaper articles and various literature 100 years ago. I read a published article in a New York paper from the 1920’s and the author wrote that the youth of the day is lazy, cared more about sinful pursuits and wondered how civilization could continue with such a horrible generation. Sound familiar?
By virtually all important measures, the world is a much better place today. Decreased infant mortality, advanced healthcare, much longer lifespans, far superior human rights and widespread democracy, the eradication of many diseases, decreases in poverty and hunger etc.. Did you know that crime rates haven’t been this low since the 60’s? These facts can be found on various law enforcement sites, but it’s clear you’ve chosen to buy into the negativity and fear mongering of the media. The list of positive things virtually goes on and on. In fact, the 21st century is the most peaceful century in recorded human history.
You’re only devaluing your own existence by claiming the past was better.
