True, but the Mahdi is a link between the minor signs and the major signs. Imagine a bridge between two countries whereas one is called Minor and the other is Major. Mahdi is the bridge between them leading people from the Minor signs to the Major signs. So he's the last minor sign and the first major sign of the hour.

رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
"Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous."
Surah Al-Furqan, Ayah 74

"Whoever constantly seeks forgiveness (from Allāh) (saying "astaghfirullāh | أستغفر اللّٰه"), Allāh will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide sustenance for him from from sources he does not expect." [Abū Dawūd]
Make it a constant habit to say Astaghfirullāh | أستغفر اللّٰه (I seek forgiveness from Allāh) with a sincere heart and you'll see the blessings and positive effects of that habit in your daily life. We have witnessed people being relieved from the darkest and most difficult of situations through this habit, others who were blessed with unimaginable wealth and blessings through this habit, and others whose hearts found contentment and true happiness through this habit.

Why is it so hard to think that the Imam of our time has been born already, but our Sunni brothers and sisters believe that the dajjal is more than 2000 years old, is still alive to this day, is chained up in a cave on an island in the middle of the sea, and gives advice to Muslims.
You also believe that the dajjal can bring life to the dead, how does this align with core Islamic beliefs?
You can find evidence of my claims in your Sahih books.
The Imam of our time (may Allah hasten his reappearance) has been born and is currently in occultation.
His name is Imam Muhammed Al-Mehdi (as) and his father is Imam Hassan Al-Askari (as) his mother is Lady Narjis (as).
He is from a lineage of Imams and is a direct descendant of Lady Fatima (as) and Imam Ali (as).

There is a core problem in your belief about the dajjal brother. The fact that it is written in your books that the dajjal is over 2000 years old and gives life to the dead is so crazy, but when we want to say that the Mehdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance) has already been born and is in occultation, this is blasphemous to you...
@mo poppe I apologize if I seemed aggressive; it is all too common that people tend to attack our beliefs rather than discuss them. To answer your original in simplest: It's in our hadith books that the Mehdi is in occultation and alive. The 2000 year old ASWJ still-alive dajjal narrative was just an example that we both have someone in our sources (who is non-prophetic) and still alive and on Earth. Our hadiths have hujjah on us like yours does on you (albeit if its Sahih)
@mo poppe Essentially, we have our own four main books like you guys have your six main books. However we don't have any books that are comprised of only "Sahih only hadiths".
The author of Al-Kafi for example wrote down every Hadith he came across (I.e just like Sunan Abi Dawud or Sunan an Nasa'i). And when we apply 'ilm al rijaal then much of Al-Kafi is actually not reliable. For both Shia and Sunni unreliable hadiths aren't necessarily taken from, it's just the reliable ones that are. That doesn't mean we don't have many strong hadiths, we do. But for every 1 strong hadith we have 2 or 3 weak ones. I'm sure it's the same on the other end as well, but unfortunately we haven't had a "this book is entirely sahih" book. The only book we say is entirely sahih is the Qu'ran so far (which I think we both agree on).
