    I've dusted molds with mica powder, but I've not seen using spray paint in the 100's of resin videos I've watched. Very cool tip!

    Would the mold chem and the resin chemicals have any fumes when using and need to use out door or is it safe for in door use?

    • @VanOaksProps

      None that I’m aware of, but I’d check the safety bulletin on the Smooth-on website to be certain.

    This is NOT how you pour silicone into a mold. You should pour it into the lowest corner of the model, avoiding direct contact with the piece you are molding, allowing the silicone to flow over the piece and find its own level. This is a great way to introduce air pockets into your mold and insure a crappy cast.

    • @VanOaksProps
      @VanOaksProps  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tolerance outside of the part was less than desirable, so the silicone splashed onto the "chin" of the part before I moved to the opposite side and poured around the perimeter, which was the lowest point of the mold. I eventually poured directly into the eye sockets, which isn't ideal, but because I knew I was running out of silicone on my first pass (under estimated - rookie mistake, I know) I wanted to make sure that the eyes were dealt with in my first coat. Mold Star is also extremely forgiving as far as viscosity and the evacuation of bubbles before it sets up.
      The only real issue I had with this mold was a bit of cure inhibition between the silicone and an area near the teeth where I didn't get a good coat of clear over the filler primer (which does NOT play well with silicone).
