This is a very good discussion of the Supernote. I have had my A5X for over 3.5 year and still love it. I reviewed the Nomad and thought it was a great device. My academic use case just needed more real estate. I gifted it to my son who is an engineer and he loves it, uses it daily. My favorite part of the video was the daily note to your son. I have four boys and constantly think of what they will remember when I am not around anymore.
I’ve got this and the Boox Go 10.3. I use the Nomad as a Daily Planner / Hobonichi thing. The Boox is currently for writing (not to your level but it’s a hobby/interest). The main issues i have with the Nomad are writing that isn’t there until you refresh (seems like the writing becomes inverted) and palm rejection failing so it thinks that i am doing the two finger gesture (not that one). It is the Platonic ideal of a eInk notebook for me, but the clay it’s made from makes it fall a little short a wee bit too often and can really disrupt flow. It’s so good so when that happens it is really quite frustrating. Thanks for the video and ideas. ❤
I gave-up on the _'Two finger erasure gesture'_ and turned it off... for a while I tried to use a pen with an erase button but found I spent more time trying to locate the button than using the toolbar. Having yielded to fate, I'm pretty much at peace with using the toolbar.
I tend to mostly just use the sidebar two-finger gesture (set as the area eraser), rather than the on-screen one (lasso), which seems very reliable as of the latest firmware update. I also notice that the lasso gesture is most reliable when your fingers are far from the pen, so I tend to place my fingers at the left edge of the screen, and start drawing the selection from the right side. I also notice that capacitive devices in general have an understandable difficulty if your hands are very dry, which can happen at this time of year with the heating on. Not sure if that’s a factor for you!
It's safe to say that you are a very organized person. 🙂 I look forward to the next videos on the Supernote, also because I'm deciding whether to buy the A5X2.
*Matt, your Supernote is like a **_'Show house'_** while mine is akin to a child's bedroom... there's stuff all over the place.* I have a system that works but try as I might, I struggle to do the house cleaning. Now I know how the Supernote works, I toy with the idea of starting afresh, but then that would break possibly hundreds if not thousands of links I added to my notes. I can excuse myself somewhat, by the fact that I only have 3GB free after two years... so looking forward to the A5X2 to replace my A5X which has no place to add an SD card.
@@karlmunford7000 Sounds like you’re getting the most out of it! I do have the luxury of it being new to me, so I was forced to consider what to move over and how. I hope you’ve got backups of all that valuable data too!
@@MattGemmellAuthor I do get allot of use out of it which is another reason I'd like the A5X2, for longevity purposes because as your A6X2... I'll then be able to replace the battery and/or motherboard which isn't possible with the A5X.
@@MattGemmellAuthor Hey Matt, great video! I'd love to use my iPad for everything. I'm almost there with Ulysses and Affinity, but I could not find an iPad replacement for Vellum. Would love to know what you use for final formatting of your novels. I also have and love my Nomad. It's literally my second brain.

Hi Matt, great video. I need to make better use of my SN. I may have misheard but do you not have a dedicated computer, just an iPad?
@@BillJamesWallace That’s right; I use an iPad Pro full-time. For writing, web stuff, Logic, Final Cut Pro, etc etc.
@ nice. I may have to give that a go

@ These days I export directly from Ulysses using custom export styles I created. You can find them as Gemmell Two on the Ulysses style exchange site.
@@MattGemmellAuthor Oh sweet! Thank you, I'll try it out.
