- Anyone that owns the YO-KAI WATCH 2: Bony Spirits or YO-KAI WATCH 2: Fleshy Souls games can download a free “Oni Evolution” software from Nintendo eShop. It adds the Yo-kai Watch Psychic Blasters mode with additional bosses to battle against, the chance to befriend new Yo-kai, including gleaming Yo-kai, and more fun features. This update also allows players the ability to transfer save data from the YO-KAI WATCH 2: Bony Spirits and YO-KAI WATCH 2: Fleshy Souls games to YO-KAI WATCH 2: Psychic Specters, which are available now!

Yo-kai watch is actually super fun. Yeah, it has similarities to pokemon but it definitely has it's own charms. Gave the first game a try and never regretted it. Gonna pick this one up too.

I loved the first one but the second one was just too slow for me. The tutorial part was way too long, there were way too many icons cluttering the screen. And certain quests were just having you do the same thing over and over again. I couldn't bring myself to finish it :/ Though I still want a third installation. Sorry for the negative input.

Okay, just to clear things up: Yo-Kai Watch is very heavily inspired by Pokémon. The team, the evolutions, the attitudes, the skills, the elements, it is rather obvious. It's pretty safe to assume that if it hadn't been for Pokémon, we would not have Yo-Kai Watch or at least not the one we know and love.
*BUT!*
It is not a ripoff.
A ripoff is a game that *depends* on being associated with the original because it has no identity of its own. It doesn't offer anything new, has little to no effort or creativity put into it and wants to make a quick buck on a popular franchise's back. Which is not at all what Yo-Kai Watch is. It has its own world and lore, the yokai have their own personalities and stories and there's plenty of other stuff to do. The battle system is also very different and though(judging from the first one) I wish it was a little more interactive, it's very much it's own thing.
Honestly, this discussion is the whole MLP vs Filly thing that popped up when (the still unreleased) Filly Funtasia released its first trailers all over again. As someone who collected small horse figurines of any kind as a child, I can confirm that Filly was inspired by MLP(the franchise as a whole, not and I repeat *NOT* Friendship is Magic!), but it's actually entirely different. Or well, it was until FiM became popular in Germany as well and the executives decided to put in Filly versions of "special talents" and Cutie Marks, but that didn't happen until very recently and the Fillys displayed in the Filly Funtasia trailer, aside from Prince Zack and this green guy who isn't even a figurine, have all been around before FiM took off.
That goes to say, I completely understand the frustration of the Yo-Kai Watch fans here. The similarities are there and it's only natural for someone who doesn't know much about Yo-Kai Watch to point them out, but there's no need to immediately dismiss it as a ripoff. That being said, there's also no need to be a dick about people mentioning Pokémon under a video of a franchise that was clearly inspired by Pokémon. The creators knew what they were in for and decided to roll with it, so it's their job to take care of things such as inspiration and making the franchise unique enough that it will one day be seen as more than "that thing that looks like Pokémon" by the public.
hey, if you want the battle system for YKW to be more invloved just wait until YKW3, they revamp the battle system and it requires more strategy
they still fight on their own but you get a 3x3 grid to place your yokai on and switch them around to different places that will make them do different things like blocking, healing, or attacking

Hello there lazy Pokémon fans who aren't willing to do research and are calling Yo-kai Watch a ripoff! Now before you send all of your comments saying how this is a ripoff, let me just explain to you how it isn't.
*1. Different stories.*
Yo-kai Watch is about a boy named Nate who finds a mysterious Gacha machine. He cranks it and meets a Yo-kai named Whisper. Whisper then gives him the Yo-kai Watch, a device used to see Yo-kai who are invisible through the naked eye.

Pokémon's story is that a boy/girl explores their region, catch wild Pokémon, stop the region's evil team, and becomes Champion.

If Yo-kai Watch was a ripoff, the story of the franchise would be similar to that of Pokémon's.
*2. Different gameplay.*
Both games are monster collecting RPGs.
Pokémon is turn based. Getting new Pokémon isn't that random. Almost every Pokémon can evolve when hitting a certain level. Not a lot of Pokémon can evolve through other means.

Yo-kai Watch is wheel turn based. Getting new Yo-kai is pretty random. Not that many Yo-kai evolve when hitting a certain level. Most Yo-kai "evolve" through other means (fusion).
There are other things that proves that Yo-kai Watch is not a ripoff, but these two that I mentioned above are, in my opinion, the main reasons that Pokémon fans call this franchise a ripoff.
Nonexistent Yo-kai watch is based off the Japanese ghosts called Yo-kai and some Pokémon are based off of Yo-kai for example kyubi and ninetails

Matthew wurm I popped a golden wisp with the hearts but sadly lost right after doing so. Luckily, I got a wisp with hearts during my next attempt and ended up befriending him. If you haven't befriended him already, good luck!
I have jibanyan s and the best way to get him is to save then battle him,if u don't get him return to the menu then join back in then go fight him again,do this over and over again till u get him

How to get Jibanyan S in the update:go talk to him at the fish shop. Then he challenges you to a battle. You can only fight him once a day. Im lucky. I GOT HIM ON MY FIRST TRY!

yeah, i think. it's essentially just ykw2 with more bosses/story. toadal dude and arachnus' roles might be a little different (since their roles in the first two depend on the version you get) but other than that, i'd say you're fine just getting psychic specters.
